The stereotypical student is a messy sort of beast, with a fondness for alcohol and daytime TV and an allergy to washing up. But for all their foibles, most people would expect the teenaged scamps to have mastered the use of a toilet. Not so at Swansea University, where campus chiefs have put up signs in a helpful attempt to provide students with toilet training.

University bosses said they put up instructions about how to use the toilets properly after some were found in a mess, sparking a series of complaints. Explaining their decision, they blamed ‘cultural differences’ in the way the toilets are used by foreign students, some of whom are used to the ‘squat toilets’ common in parts of Asia and Europe. (More from the Daily Mail)

H/T Mullah/Radio NZ

Muslims in New Zealand are to petition the Government to have Christmas and Easter public holidays transferred to days on which they celebrate their own religious festivals.

The Federation of Islamic Associations plans to discuss religious holidays as part of the Government’s constitutional review.

Association president Anwar Ghani says at present, Muslims have to take up to four days’ annual leave to celebrate religious holidays such as Eid-al-Fitr which marks the end of the month of Ramadan.

“It would be really a lot nicer if we had the provision to substitute one or two days of the other holidays so that we can, without sacrificing the annual leave, enjoy the festivities and feel that we have been included in the provisions of leave.”

Dr Ghani says the Muslim community does not want to complicate the system, but it would like to discuss whether allowances could be made.

But a humanist group believes non-Christians should not be allowed to transfer Christmas and Easter holidays to their own festivals – as most people do not treat the days as religious holidays.

In the 2006 census, 34.7% of New Zealanders stated they have no religion.

John Murphy, president of the Association of Rationalists and Humanists, says for many people celebrating Christmas it is now about tradition and family time.

“It’s more of a New Zealand cultural and society thing nowadays. The religious reasons are becoming a bit of an anachronism, given that a large portion of New Zealanders don’t go to church and don’t observe religious holidays.

“So the ‘me too’ argument doesn’t wash, I think.”

During the review period, the public will be consulted on a range of questions – from the size of Parliament to the role of the Treaty of Waitangi and whether New Zealand should have a written constitution.

The review panel will make its recommendations by September 2013.

Saudi journalist Hamza Kashgari was detained in Malaysia on Wednesday night and is likely to be extradited soon to Saudi Arabia, where he will be tried for blaspheming religion. Kashgari, 23, had fled the kingdom Monday after he received thousands of death threats. His crime? He posted on Twitter a series of mock conversations between himself and the Islamic prophet Muhammad. More from WAPO

How many things can you think of in Saudi society that would actually be worth this much outrage? Child marriage? Sexual abuse of foreign domestic workers? The treatment of women as permanent minors? Antisemitic preaching and textbooks? Persecution of non-Muslims?

One could go on. But the righteous indignation is reserved for a 23-year-old with a Twitter account. An update on this story. “Saudi committee calls for “harsh punitive measures” against man who insulted Muhammad,” from Asia News, February 10:

This is the international equivalent of calling 911 because your pizza delivery is late.

It is bad enough if the Saudis are persecuting alleged “blasphemers” on their own dime, but to hijack an international system designed to assist law enforcement in tracking down the perpetrators of actual crimes for their own ridiculously disordered priorities is a presumptuous, arrogant abuse of resources that must not be allowed to pass without comment. Nor should the fact that Interpol let its resources be expropriated for that purpose.

Hamza Kashgari may wind up dead for it. An update on this story. “Interpol accused after journalist arrested over Muhammad tweet,” by Owen Bowcott for the Guardian, February 11, via JW….

Interpol has been accused of abusing its powers after Saudi Arabia used the organisation’s red notice system to get a journalist arrested in Malaysia for insulting the Prophet Muhammad.

Whose prophet?

Police in Kuala Lumpur said Hamza Kashgari, 23, was detained at the airport “following a request made to us by Interpol” the international police cooperation agency, on behalf of the Saudi authorities.Kashgari, a newspaper columnist, fled Saudi Arabia after posting a tweet on the prophet’s birthday that sparked more than 30,000 responses and several death threats. The posting, which was later deleted, read: “I have loved things about you and I have hated things about you and there is a lot I don’t understand about you … I will not pray for you.”

More than 13,000 people joined a Facebook page titled “The Saudi People Demand the Execution of Hamza Kashgari”.

Clerics in Saudi Arabia called for him to be charged with apostasy, a religious offence punishable by death. Reports suggest that the Malaysian authorities intend to return him to his native country.

Kashgari’s detention has triggered criticism by human rights groups of Malaysia’s decision to arrest the journalist and of Interpol’s cooperation in the process.

Jago Russell, the chief executive of the British charity Fair Trials International, which has campaigned against the blanket enforcement of Interpol red notices, said: “Interpol should be playing no part in Saudi Arabia’s pursuit of Hamza Kashgari, however unwise his comments on Twitter.

“If an Interpol red notice is the reason for his arrest and detention it would be a serious abuse of this powerful international body that is supposed to respect basic human rights (including to peaceful free speech) and to be barred from any involvement in religious or political cases.”

He called on Interpol to stand by its obligations to fundamental human rights and “to comply with its obligation not to play any part in this case, which is clearly of a religious nature”.

Interpol, which has 190 member countries, has a series of coloured notice systems that police forces around the world use to pass on requests for help. Contacted at its headquarters in Lyon, France, the organisation did not immediately reply to requests for comment on the Kashgari case.

In response to past criticisms of the red notice system, it has said: “There are safeguards in place. The subject of a red notice can challenge it through an independent body, the commission for the control of Interpol’s files (CCF).”

Last year Interpol was accused by Fair Trials International of allowing the system to be abused for political purposes when it issued a red notice for the arrest of the Oxford-based leader of an Asian separatist movement, Benny Wenda, who has been granted asylum and has lived in the UK since 2003.

See, Muslims are just like us: they even use toilet paper!

The Religion of Peace, which is known to have “more than 70 rules to urinate and defecate“, prescribes the usage of an “uneven number of pepples, not dung or bones, for they are the food of the jinn…” (find the hadith on the bottom of this page/ed) for cleaning the anus.

As we can see here, Abu Qatada, Al Qaeda’s right hand man in Londonsistan, doesn’t seem to follow his prophet’s instructions to the letter and given the generous allowance afforded him (courtesy of the British taxpayer) is corrupted by the filthy ways of the kuffar by using toilet paper instead of pebbles: shame on you, Ikhwan brother!

Update:

Sanctimonious BS from leftist rabble against the deportation of Islamic terrorists back to their desert hell holes

We know how these ME dictatorships treat their opponents. Our standards of human rights simply do not apply, the Islamic nations have not signed up to our human rights. Neither did the Islamic headbangers who terrorize us and suck our generous welfare system dry, behind what they consider enemy lines. The Paki twit in this vid who blabbers about human rights of terrorists doesn’t seem to understand that she would not enjoy any of these rights under sharia, and Abu Qatada would certainly not change the Islamic doctrine to accommodate her. Annoying, simply annoying. Her name is Shami Chakrabarti, just for the record. (thanks to Vlad for the vid)

For instance, we should refer to the deadly blast at that nightclub in Bali in October 2002 as an “attack,” not as a “terrorist attack.” The same applies to the Madrid train attacks in March 2004, the London bombings in July 2005 and the attacks against the United States in 2001, which the CBC prefers to call “the Sept. 11 attacks” or some similar expression. (The BBC, Reuters and many others follow similar policies.)

Terrorism generally implies attacks against unarmed civilians for political, religious or some other ideological reason. But it’s a highly controversial term that can leave journalists taking sides in a conflict.

Controversial? To whom? The terrorists?

By restricting ourselves to neutral language, we aren’t faced with the problem of calling one incident a “terrorist act” (e.g., the destruction of the World Trade Center) while classifying another as, say, a mere “bombing” (e.g., the destruction of a crowded shopping mall in the Middle East).
That’s all well and good, except that terrorism is a handily defined English word. If the crowded shopping mall in the Middle East was destroyed by a person or an organized group (i.e. not a government actor) with the intention of intimidating or coercing a society or government for ideological or political reasons, than it meets the definition of terrorism.

They do speak English in some parts of Canada, right?

Use specific descriptions. Instead of reaching for a label (“terrorist” or “terrorism”) when news breaks, try describing what happened.
For example, “A suicide bomber blew up a bus full of unarmed civilians early Monday, killing at least two dozen people.” The details of these tragedies give our audience the information they need to form their own conclusions about what type of attack it was.

Footnote: It’s come to the CBC’s attention that it is highly controversial in some parts of the world to label this kind of thing a “tragedy.” Henceforth, CBC will use the less controversial word “operation.”
Actually, “operation” could be construed as controversial by someone… Hmm. What’s something that everyone likes? Aha! Ice cream! “A suicide bomber blew up a bunch of kids today, in what can only be described as an unexpected ice cream.”

Rather than calling assailants “terrorists,” we can refer to them as bombers, hijackers, gunmen (if we’re sure no women were in the group), militants, extremists, attackers or some other appropriate noun.
Militants, extremists… kind of controversial, don’t you think? How about activists, protestors, gentlemen (if we’re sure no women were in the group), the aggrieved, the glorious heavenbound, or some other appropriate noun?
The guiding principle should be that we don’t judge specific acts as “terrorism” or people as “terrorists.” Such labels must be attributed.
As CBC News editor-in-chief Tony Burman has pointed out: “Our preference is to describe the act or individual, and let the viewer or listener or political representatives make their own judgment.”

I’ll apply the same standard to the CBC: I would describe this as an act of PC language perversion, handed down by an individual who seems to have recused himself and his news organization from making even the most basic judgments about right and wrong. I’ll let you make your own judgment

Syria — home to Damascus, one of the most important cities of the ancient world and of special religious significance to Christians — has long had a tolerant attitude toward religious minorities. Syria’s Christians — estimated to be about 10 percent of the population, or 2.5 million — cherish this tradition of non-religious government. The Ba’athist Party of Syria had a counterpart in the Ba’athist Party of Iraq, whose last leader was Saddam Hussein. The party was actually founded by Michael Aflaq, a Syrian Christian, and although there are many objectionable features to its politics (it is, for example, overtly socialist), people of all faiths were able to live in relative safety even in a Syria in which the overwhelming majority of the inhabitants are Muslims.

Ignatius Joseph III, Patriarch of the Syrian Catholic Church, explained the plight of the Syrian Christians:

“The Christians in Syria face a dilemma. They are morally obligated to support the protestors, but if Assad falls, sectarian strife could ravage the country and Islamic terrorists will target Christians as they have in Iraq and Egypt. If they support Assad and he falls they could be targets for revenge. That is why the Christian community in Syria is largely silent, not knowing what to do.”

Gwendolyn Cates, a filmmaker who has produced documentaries on religious minorities in the Middle East, agrees that Assad’s is “a very repressive regime,” but also notes that Syria has been open to religious refugees who flooded the country after the rise of the Islamic regime in Iraq. She has interviewed Christians who have left Syria, and relates that the situation of those still in the country is grim.

David Wood, a Christian activist who focuses on radical Islam, notes:

“Assad is brutal, but he’s equally brutal towards everyone, Muslim and non-Muslim. If Islamists take over the country, and they most certainly will if the secular regime falls, they will be every bit as brutal as Assad, but they will not treat people equally. Christians will be in quite a bit of trouble.”

A church leader in Syria who fears to make his identity known, spoke of the peril to Christians:

“Look at what happened in Egypt and Iraq. Christians want to peacefully go out and ask for certain changes, but Islamist groups are sneaking in with their goal, which is not to make Syria better but to take over the country with their agenda. Christians will be the first to pay if this happens.”

Others have predicted the dangerous position for the few Christians who might remain if there is a general exodus of Christians. The more who flee, the smaller the Christian vote in any democratic process as well as the smaller the Christian presence in community life, where many of the Christians in Syria have deep and ancient roots in their homeland.

Disturbingly, the U.S. government has been vocally supporting “democratic movements” in Syria, as it has in Egypt and Libya.

Kevin Rudd, Australia’s ousted ex-PM, seems to have similar plans for Australia:

Considering this organisation stands for systematic islamisation, unrelenting spread of a false, sugarcoated image of islam and with serious effort and funding seeks to criminalize freedom of speech in the West; Australians need to stand up and show their disgust:

February 15th and 16th at the National Press Club of Australia and at Griffith University, Brisbane. Following similar events in Europe and Washington, Mr Rudd’s visitor is here to educate and help us overcome “Islamophobia” in Australia.

This is an urgent notice to all concerned to immediately arrange for the burial of the body called Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), together with that of its six subsidiary organs, five specialised institutions and organs, and four standing committees. The urgency comes from the fact the stench from this dead body has now become unbearable. (even Paki writer Muzaffar Iqbal has had enough)

The United States doesn’t fund many terrorist groups, but the bulk of the funding that it allots to terrorists goes to terrorists operating in Israel and killing Israelis. (More)

Gallia Watch thanks to DP111

This nine-minute video, hosted by Christine Tasin, appears at Riposte Laïque. It is a warning about the proposed plan to criminalize on a world-wide basis any criticism of Islam or sharia. The video is in sections, with text or commentary from Christine in French. There is also an English-language segment. Throughout part of the video you will hear in the background the air “Va, Pensiero” from the operaNabucco by Verdi. This beloved song is sung in the opera by the Hebrew slaves in Babylon as they long for their homeland.

I have put in italics those passages that appear as text in the video, and I have divided my translation into thirteen sections for convenience. Several sections are adaptations or condensations of the original.

1 - Christine Tasin: The European countries have agreed to host, in July, the next meeting of the Istanbul Process, the project to criminalize any criticism of Islam. The place and date are not yet known. But the news is troubling.

2 - (Written text) ”The Istanbul Process is directed by the OCI (Organization of Islamic Cooperation), headquartered in Saudi Arabia, an intergovernmental organization created on September 25, 1969 under the name of Organization of the Islamic Conference. It groups together fifty-seven member States and possesses a permanent delegation to the U.N. It changed its name on June 28, 2011 and is the only international organization on a supra-national level that is religious in nature.”

3 – Christine Tasin’s voice is heard over the Riposte Laïque banner featuring an article by Bernard Dick entitled The OCI Exerts Pressure to Turn Defamation of a Religion into a Crime.

Christine Tasin: The goal of the Istanbul Process is to write into international law a ban of all criticism of Islam and sharia.

The OCI has already had a vote in this direction, referring to the notorious 16/18 resolution of the United Nations Council on Human Rights that calls on all countries to fight against the stigmatization of religions. In order for this resolution to be implemented the Western nations have to follow it. Until now this has not been the case. Yet two important steps have been taken. First Washington hosted in December 2011 a meeting of the Istanbul Process. Agreeing to host this meeting means agreeing to the idea that Islamophobia should be suppressed. It means legitimizing the OCI and its fight against freedom of speech. It means agreeing that blasphemy should again be made a crime

4 - (Written text) ”To know more about the OCI, the Istanbul Process and what the U.S.A. and Brussels are devising. A world worse than 1984. The disappearance, pure and simple, of freedom of speech, and religion imposed on everybody. Will they succeed in turning us into silent trembling slaves?”

5 - (Written text by Bernard Dick) ”To say that jihadists use Islamic texts and teachings while encouraging violence in order to impose the supremacy of Islam and sharia is liable to become a crime. The complicity of the United States and Western governments on this question is a betrayal of our values and a submission to political Islam, a submission to moneyed Islamic organizations.”

6 - (Written text translated from the Arabic by Bernard Dick) ”In the course of the months to come, the American capital, Washington, will host a coordinating committee to discuss with the OCI the modalities of application of the 16/18 decision on the defamation of religions, the ban on stereotyped images of religions and their followers, as well as the spread of religious tolerance, which was adopted last March by the Human Rights Council (of the United Nations) with the approval of the Western nations. This resolution had been adopted after long discussions between the OIC and the countries where the phenomenon of Islamophobia is known.”

7 - (Written text translated from the Arabic by Bernard Dick) ”The same sources say that the next meetings have as their goal to provide a legal basis for the decision of the Council on Human Rights of the United Nations and to allow those States affected by this problem to legislate, and even more: to enact international laws that would prevent inciting to hatred resulting from defamation of religions.”

8 - Christine Tasin: We have no illusions about Obama who has defended Islam.

(Written text) ”Obama has made Islam a religion of the United States”

(Written text from Obama’s Cairo speech, 2009) ”In the same way, it is important that Western countries avoid preventing Muslims from practicing their religion as they wish, for example, by dictating what Muslim women must wear. In a word, we cannot disguise hostility toward religion under the cover of liberalism.”

(Written text) ”Obama: ‘The United States Will Never Be At War with Islam’

The American president gave a speech in Cairo in the form of a reconciliation with the Muslim world. He gave his support to the creation of a Palestinian State and asked that Israeli colonization cease.”

9 – This part is in English. Republican Congressman Dan Lungren questions Paul N. Stockton, Assistant Secretary of Homeland Defense. Notice that besides arguing about Islam they each have a different pronunciation for al-Qaeda.

10 – Christine Tasin points out the importance of the United States that serves as a model for other countries.

(Written text, Obama’s speech) ”Well-versed in history, I know too the debt that civilization owes to Islam. And all through history, Islam has proved, in words and in deeds, the possibilities of religious tolerance and of racial equality.” (Applause) “I know too that Islam has always been a part of American History.”

11 - Christine Tasin: We know the litany of oppressive measures, torture and intimidation endured by those in Islamic countries who contravene the Islamic laws: death sentences, stoning, amputation, flagellation are the lot of hundreds of people every day. The United States has no problem with this, the United States is doing all it can to make Islamic law world law. We know the lot of women in Islamic countries and the hell they live in from childhood. What are our elite doing that they are willing to host such a conference? We cannot, we must not allow this to happen. We must protest, we must rise up, we must say to all our representatives, all our deputies that we do not want this. There must be a movement that rises up against this abomination.

12 – The French flag is the backdrop for a pop-style patriotic song:

“People of France, the time has come for you to break the silence and have your voice heard, People of France do not resign yourselves, Resist the enemy of your laws.”

13 - Christine Tasin: We have no illusions. The European Commission, like Obama, works secretly to prevent us from criticizing Islam. Proof? The Commission has created a network to sensitize people about the radical reaction following the massacre in Norway. I quote Le Monde, 09/09/2011, regarding the killer Anders Breivik:

“We are afraid (…) that his act becomes, in the future, a source of inspiration for other extremists, because the ideas of groups hostile to Islam have spread considerably since 2001. ‘They dispose of a vast potential for recruitment, superior to that of the neo-nazis obsessed with the Jewish question. They benefit from a feeling of skepticism with regard to Muslims that is widespread in our societies,’ he explained.”

Christine Tasin: We cannot say that we didn’t know. It is urgent to get out of the European Union. And it is urgent that the ruling elite change their national and international policies. Vive la République! Vive la France!

There’s more, much more:

“Islamic Terrorism is Just Ordinary Crime”

A new Homeland Security report compares terrorism to “ordinary crime” in metropolitan U.S. cities and omits the radical Islamic factor, instead finding “significant variability in the ideologies motivating terrorist attacks across decades.”

This appears to be part of the Obama Administration’s Muslim outreach effort, which includes hiring a special Homeland Security adviser (Mohamed Elibiary) who supports a radical Islamist theologian and renowned jihadist ideologue. The Obama Justice Department also created a special Muslim Engagement Advisory Group to foster greater communication, collaboration and a new level of respect between law enforcement and Muslim and Arab-American communities. (Judicial Watch)

Back to Australia:

On Wednesday 5th of October, on Channel 7, in the “TodayTonight” program, it was revealed how some councils from Melbourne, like Darebin Council in Melbourne’s North (and soon other councils will follow suit) is doing the hiring, using a grant from the Federal Attorney General Robert McClelland’s Counter Violent Extremism Fund.

So far the Gillard government spent more than 9.7 million dollars to promote the Islam religion in Australia, alsodeveloping and implementing activities that assist the Islamic Society of Victoria to dispel myths and misconceptions about Islam and Muslims”

The government also is funding overseas religious workers paying them a salary of $66,000 dollars per year to spread Islam in this country. My greatest concern is that the government wants the Islamisation of Australia.

The following Muslim communities were helped with huge amounts of taxpayers’ money:

- Auburn Community Development Network

- Australian Somali Community Association Inc. (ASCA).

- Bali Peace Park Association

- Burwood Council

- Centre for Multicultural Youth

- City of Darebin

- Federation of Ethnic Communities

- Council of Australia (FECCA)

- Football United – Fairfield

- Footscray Football Club

- Forum on Australia’s Islamic Relations

- Horn of Africa Development Agency (HARDA)

- InterAction Multifaith Youth Network

- Islamic Council of Queensland

- Islamic Council of Victoria

- La Trobe University

- Lebanese Muslim Association

- North Melbourne Football Club

- Pace e Bene Australia

- University of Melbourne

- Victorian Arabic Social Services

- The Youth Centre

- Youth Development Australia

$45,000 pool curtain installed by the Monash Council to shield Muslim women from public view while they swim.

NO program like this, for any other religious group has ever been run before, and NO other religion has ever received a penny from the government, so the question that remain unanswered is: “why now”, and “why only to Muslims”?????

THIS IS DISCRIMINATION ALL OVER THE COUNTRY !!!

This means the rest of us, who are not Muslims, are going to be “second class citizens” of Australia.
