‘Sudden Jihad Syndrome’

Incidents, accidents or deliberate acts of jihad?

What do you think? Let us know.

Sudden Jihad Syndrome

* A just-graduated student named Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, 22, and an Iranian immigrant, drove a sport utility vehicle into a crowded pedestrian zone. He struck nine people but, fortunately, none were severely injured.

Until his would-be murderous rampage, Taheri-azar, a philosophy and psychology major, had an apparently normal existence and promising future.

Sentence Fury Of Hit & Run Victim’s Family

The furious family of a young woman left for dead by a callous hit-and-run driver said they were “speechless” after the cold-blooded culprit was told he’d spend just six weeks in jail.

Pretty victim Amy Verlander, 22, was in a coma for three weeks after being brutally mowed down as she waited for a taxi and is still in a wheelchair seven months after the sickening smash.

Brave Amy, who works for the Independent Police Complaints Commission, has been in and out of hospital since the devastating collision on Burdett Road in Limehouse, east London, on September 2nd last year.

She was left with a catalogue of horrific injuries including a broken neck, spinal injuries, a punctured lung, fractured pelvis, crushed diaphragm, shattered ribs and a broken arm.

It was only thanks to the actions of a passing motorist – who flagged down a police car – that Amy, of Poplar, east London, survived.

The driver who mowed down Amy, 28-year-old Mohammed Rahman, claimed he fell asleep at the wheel and did not realise he’d hit anyone – despite a smashed driver’s window and blood pouring from his ear.

Rahman, of Limehouse, east London, who works part-time as a waiter, even took his car in for repairs on the Monday – two days after the smash – but did not report it to police for 11 days.

Judith Woodforde, prosecuting, told Thames Magistrates Court today that Rahman fell asleep at the wheel after driving home from work in Epping.

She said a witness, Anjem Choudary, said he had been driving his Toyota Yaris “hard”. Mr Choudary told police he thought the car had struck a “large bin because the noise of the impact was so loud”.

He admitted charges of careless driving, failing to stop and failing to report the accident at an earlier court hearing.

British citizen Rahman, who is of Bengali origin and doesn’t speak any English, was sentenced to a total of three months in jail.

But Amy’s mum and dad, who were sat in the public gallery, heard that he would only have to serve six weeks behind bars.

They told how their lives had been “shattered” by the accident and slammed the “joke” sentence.

Driver in court after fatal crash

A taxi driver has appeared in court charged with the manslaughter of a 17-year-old from the Black Country who died as he tried to hail a cab.
Father-of-six Ghulan Hussain, 44, of West Bromwich, appeared at the town’s magistrates’ court on Friday.

The incident started in Hollyhedge Road, West Bromwich early on Sunday. Scott Poll’s body was later found in Hall Green Road, a mile away.

Mr Hussain was remanded in custody until a hearing on 26 May.

Joke court denies justice

THE SUN launched a major campaign two years ago to Nail The Danger Drivers – by ending the scandal of soft sentences for killer motorists.

We were delighted when the Government bowed to pressure and brought in tough new laws.

Readers hoped deadly motorists would finally get the jail terms they deserved.

So did Sun Sport columnist Charlie Catchpole — until his son-in-law was mown down in a hit-and-run.

Now Paul Dix, 38, lies in a coma, unlikely to recover. And Charlie’s daughter, Charlotte, has been left to pick up the pieces and try to comfort their little son, Freddie.

Although the driver, Amirunnes Hassan, did not have a valid licence and failed to stop, she was fined just £50.

Here, Charlie tells of the devastation caused to his family.

Incident? Accident or jihad?

The bottom line, is that this story will be discussed in ways that avoid its direct ties to Islam, and will quickly fade away; just like Ismail Ax at Virginia Tech, like Lee Malvo and John Muhammad – the Beltway Snipers, like Sulejmen Talovic, who shot up a mall and killed shoppers in Salt Lake City, Utah, like Naveed Afzal Haq, who stormed the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle office with his shotgun, pistol, and Qur’an, like Omeed Aziz Popal, who ran over San Francisco pedestrians and the people who came to their rescue with his 2-ton car, like US Army Sergeant Asan Akbar, who threw grenades in the tents of his sleeping “comrades” in the beginning days of the Iraq war, like Ahmed Ressam, who was caught with explosives in his trunk at the Canadian/US border on his way to blow up the Golden Gate bridge, like the Islamic perpetrators of the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, like Ramsey Yusuf’s connection to the Oklahoma City massacre, and the many hundreds of others Islamic jihad stories just like them.

These perpetrators came from far and wide – Jamaica, Pakistan, Algeria, Canada, Jordan, Kosovo, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Iran, Bosnia, the United States, … and spanned all the colors of the human rainbow – white, black, yellow, orange, purple, … The only thing they had in common was an allegiance to Allah and the inspiration to kill that they derived from the life and teachings of Muhammad that they found in their Qur’ans.

Vatican in 2027

Britain got so many things wrong during the Rushdie affair, just as America got so many things wrong during the Iranian embassy siege ten years earlier. But it’s now 2007 — almost two decades after Iran claimed sovereignty over British subjects, almost three decades after they claimed sovereignty over U.S. territory. So what have we learned? I was with various British parliamentarians the other day, and we were talking about the scenes from Islamabad, where the usual death-to-the-Great-Satan chappies had burned an effigy of the Queen to protest the knighthood she’d conferred on Rushdie. I told my London friends that I had to hand it to Tony Blair’s advisors: What easier way for the toothless old British lion, after the humiliations inflicted upon the Royal Navy sailors by their Iranian kidnappers, to show you’re still a player than by knighting Salman Rushdie for his “services to literature”? Given that his principal service to literature has been to introduce the word “fatwa” to the English language, one assumed that some characteristically cynical British civil servant had waved the knighthood through as a relatively cheap way of flipping the finger to the mullahs.

But no. It seems Her Majesty’s Government in London was taken entirely by surprise by the scenes of burning Union Jacks on the evening news.

Can that really be true? In a typically incompetent response, Margaret Beckett, the Foreign Secretary, issued one of those obviously-we’re-sorry-if-there’s-been-a-misunderstanding statements in which she managed to imply that Rushdie had been honored as a representative of the Muslim community. He’s not. He’s an ex-Muslim. He’s a representative of the Muslim community’s willingness to kill you for trying to leave the Muslim community. But, locked into obsolescent multiculti identity-groupthink, Mrs. Beckett instinctively saw Rushdie as a member of a quaintly exotic minority rather than as a free-born individual.

This is where we came in two decades ago. We should have learned something by now. In the Muslim world, artistic criticism can be fatal. In 1992, the poet Sadiq Abd al-Karim Milalla also found that his work was “not particularly well-received:” he was beheaded by the Saudis for suggesting Mohammed cooked up the Koran by himself. In 1998, the Algerian singer Lounès Matoub described himself as “ni Arabe ni musulman” (neither Arab nor Muslim) and shortly thereafter found himself neither alive nor well. These are not famous men. They don’t stand around on Oscar night congratulating themselves on their “courage” for speaking out against Bush-Rove fascism. But, if we can’t do much about freedom of expression in Iran and Saudi Arabia, we could at least do our bit to stop Saudi-Iranian standards embedding themselves in the western world. So many of our problems with Iran today arise from not doing anything about our problems with Iran yesterday. Men like Ayatollah Khomeini despised pan-Arab nationalists like Nasser who attempted to impose a local variant of Marxism on the Muslim world. Khomeini figured: Why import the false ideologies of a failing civilization? Doesn’t it make more sense to export Islamism to the dying west?

Islam already conquered Paris:

Soldiers of Allah marching down Champs-Élysées

And, for a guy dismissed by most of us as crazy, he made a lot of sense. The Rushdie fatwa established the ground rules: The side that means it gets away with it. Mobs marched through Britain calling for the murder of a British subject — and, as a matter of policy on the grounds of multicultural sensitivity, the British police shrugged and looked the other way. One reader in England recalled one demonstration at which he asked a constable why the “Muslim community leaders” weren’t being arrested for incitement to murder. The officer told him to “f— off, or I’ll arrest you.” Genuine “moderate Muslims” were cowed into silence, and pseudo-moderate Muslims triangulated with artful evasiveness. Sir Iqbal Sacranie, who went on to become leader of the most prominent British Muslim lobby group, was asked his opinion of the fatwa against Rushdie and mused: “Death is perhaps too easy.”

In 1989 Salman Rushdie went into hiding under the protection of the British police. A decade later, despite renewals of the fatwa and generous additions to the bounty, he decided he did not wish to live his life like that and emerged from seclusion to live a more or less normal life. He learned the biggest lesson of all — how easy it is to be forced into the shadows. That’s what’s happening in the free world incrementally every day, with every itsy-bitsy nothing concession to groups who take offence at everything and demand the right to kill you for every offence. Across two decades, what happened to Rushdie has metastasized, in part because of the weak response in those first months. “Death is perhaps too easy?” Maybe. But slow societal suicide is easier still.

Glasgow Airport Terror Attack

Nutroots report ‘Jeep on Fire Crashes into Airport’-

‘Asian Man on Fire Run from the Scene’

Eyewitness said two Asian men were in a Jeep Cherokee which was driven at speed with flames coming out from underneath at 3.15pm this afternoon.

After the crash, one of men, whose clothes were on fire, jumped out of the car and ran into the terminal building where he was tackled by a heroic holidaymaker.

Police then jumped on top of him as flames continued to rise from his body while terrified onlookers fled in all directions.

One eye witness who knocked the terrorist suspect over with his forearm said: “The man was wrestling with police on the ground.

”I had seen him and the other man get out of the car. The flames were burning through his clothes. Police were telling everybody to get back.

“Some people who were close by shouted ”let him burn“. I saw the holidaymaker who had tackled him with blood streaming from his face and I myself had knocked into him with my forearm.”

The pair were held down before police led them away.

Muslim Public Affairs Committee: Britain is to Blame for London Car Bombs

* Stop Resisting Islam or Else…!

The UK’s Muslim Public Affairs Committee is getting out in front of today’s attempted mass murder attacks in London, and pushing their usual jihadi propaganda—it’s Britain’s foreign policy that’s to blame, and if they don’t change it to be more in line with the Islamic agenda, they can expect more: MPACUK – Foreign Office’s top official: Iraq war fuelling Muslim extremism.

The Foreign Office’s top official warned Downing Street that the Iraq war was fuelling Muslim extremism in Britain a year before the 7 July bombings, The Observer can reveal.

Despite repeated denials by Number 10 that the war made Britain a target for terrorists, a letter from Michael Jay, the Foreign Office permanent under-secretary, to the cabinet secretary, Sir Andrew Turnbull – obtained by this newspaper – makes the connection clear.

The letter, dated 18 May 2004, says British foreign policy was a ‘recurring theme’ in the Muslim community, ‘especially in the context of the Middle East peace process and Iraq’.

And in case one post at their site doesn’t get the message across, there’s a second, featuring a graphic picture of a bloody baby: MPACUK – UK’s wars ‘leave EU at risk of terrorism’.

* The Moonbats will gobble it up like a new religion…

* And the Muhammedan’s already prepared the exit strategy:

The Cairns Fishwrap Reports: Bag bomb Between the Rainforest & the Reef

Damon Guppy

Cairns Post/Moonbat Eldorado

A BACKPACK full of commercial explosives, detonators and .303 calibre ammunition was found stashed near the ambulance station at Manunda.

The discovery on Thursday has sparked a major investigation but police said the find was not related to the APEC meetings in Cairns this week.

* Of course not. Why upset the unsuspecting locals? But how do we know that the bomb was not related to the APEC meeting?

The meetings have attracted the city’s biggest ever security response.

* It should!

The police bomb squad and explosive experts were called to inspect the black backpack after it was found by a worker in bushland off Anderson St about 3pm.

The backpack contained commercial explosives, detonators and a magazine containing rounds of bullets for a .303-calibre rifle.

“It obviously is concerning to find items like that in public,” Cairns police district Superintendent Katarina Carroll said.

“The concerning item is the ammunition.

“We are endeavouring to determine what they were to be used for.”

She said police believed the bag had been dumped or stashed at the site, between Cairns Ambulance Station and Martyn St cemetery, some time ago.

“The items would appear to be quite aged,” Supt Carroll said.

“It is yet to be determined how long they had been there for.

“We are making inquiries to find out who owns it.”

The worker called police immediately after stumbling across the backpack.

The area was cordoned off for several hours while experts assessed the threat and Scenes of Crime officers combed the surrounds for clues.

“The items were seized and the scene was rendered safe,” Supt Carroll said.

* There is nothing to worry about. Except after the fact…

The explosives and detonators were given to an inspector from the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy.

Forensic officers are analysing the bag and bullets.

Supt Carroll said the worker handled the matter responsibly.

“People who stumble across these types of things should not touch it,” she said.

“People should call police immediately and try to keep people away from the scene until police arrive.”

While security continued to be tight at the APEC meeting in the CBD, police did not see the explosive find as a threat to that event.

“The police service sees no relationship between this item of property and the APEC meetings,” Far Northern Region Chief Supt Mike Keating said.

Anyone with information on the backpack should call Cairns police on 4030 7000 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

If all fails, call Gavin King flash-as-a-rat-with-a-gold_thumb2.jpg

Terror Plot Involves Islamic Extremists; Police Have ‘Crystal Clear’ Picture of Suspect

Brian Ross and Richard Esposito Report:

British police have a “crystal clear” picture of the man who drove the bomb-rigged silver Mercedes outside a London nightclub, and officials tell the Blotter on ABCNews.com he bears “a close resemblance” to a man arrested by police in connection with another bomb plot but released for lack of evidence.

Officials say the suspect had been taken into custody in connection with the case of al Qaeda operative Dhiren Barot (pictured), who was convicted of orchestrating a vehicle bomb plot involving targets in London, New York, Newark, N.J. and Washington, D.C.

* His mother will say ‘he would never do a thing like that’- his father will say ‘he was a quiet boy and a good Muslim’ and the neighbors will be shocked, shocked! And his brothers and sisters will worry about the backlash, you know: BACKLASH??!!!

Officials say a surveillance camera caught the suspect “staggering from the Mercedes” shortly after parking it outside the Tiger Tiger nightclub.

Special Report Video Multiple Bombs in Foiled Plot

U.S. and British law enforcement officials tell ABC News it is increasingly clear Friday’s bomb plot in London involves multliple vehicles, and is described by a senior official as a “terror plot involving lslamic extremists.”

The silver Mercedes sedan discovered early Friday morning outside the Tiger Tiger nightclub
in Piccadilly Circus appears to have been stolen in early June and was spotted in the last two days, first in Scotland and then in Birmingham, England, according to law enforcement officials.

Photos Police Investigate Car Bombs in London

The car contained five or six propane and butane gas cylinders as well as 33 gallons of gasoline, all rigged to detonate with calls to two cell phones. Officials say the cell phones failed to initiate the explosions, even after each phone had been called twice.

Jooozzz kill Farfur, the Pali-Jihad Rat

Hamas TV on Friday broadcast what it said was the last episode of a weekly children’s show featuring “Farfour,” a Mickey Mouse look-alike who had made worldwide headlines for preaching Islamic domination and armed struggle to youngsters.

In the final skit, Farfour was beaten to death by an actor posing as an Israeli official trying to buy Farfour’s land. At one point, Farfour called the Israeli a “terrorist.”

“Farfour was martyred while defending his land,” said Sara, the teen presenter. He was killed “by the killers of children,” she added.

The weekly show, featuring a giant black-and-white rodent with a high-pitched voice, had attracted worldwide attention because the character urged Palestinian children to fight Israel. It was broadcast on Hamas-affiliated Al-Aksa TV.

Station officials said Friday that Farfour was taken off the air to make room for new programs.

Station manager Mohammed Bilal said he didn’t know yet what would be shown instead.

Israeli officials have denounced the program, “Tomorrow’s Pioneers,” as incendiary and outrageous. The program was also opposed by the state-run Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation, which is controlled by Fatah.

Crescent News Network (CNN) puts Jerusalem back on the (Weather) Map

Winds of Jihad reported here:

CNN:Israel doesn’t exist. Wiped off the Map!

Following an inquiry from The Jerusalem Post, CNN has corrected a feature on its Web site that failed to identify Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and which had instead listed it as “Jerusalem, null.”

The change was made on Wednesday, after the Post contacted a CNN spokesman in Atlanta, where the company is based, and asked why Israel was referred to in this way by the Web site.

The feature in question appears on the CNN home page, which offers visitors the option of checking the weather at various locations around the world by typing in the name of the desired city.

The page returns a result containing the city name followed by the country in which it is located, such that someone who typed in “Moscow” would receive the weather report for “Moscow, Russia.”

But visitors to the site who typed in “Jerusalem” received the weather forecast for “Jerusalem, null,” with no mention made of the city’s location in the State of Israel.

After being contacted by the Post on Wednesday, CNN spokeswoman Jennifer Martin said that the company had made “a clarification” to the Web site after having received “a few inquiries” on the issue.

The matter was first uncovered and publicized by pro-Israel activist Web sites The Israellycool.com and littlegreenfootballs.com.

While CNN and Fox News Channel were in breaking news mode early this morning, broadcasting continuous live coverage of the London bomb scare, MSNBC was acting like nothing had happened.

MSNBC’s First Look, live at 5am and repeated at 5:30am, barely made mention of the developing story. The top story was yesterday’s immigration defeat in Congress.

Anchor Joel Connable was finally forced to mention the terror plot once, when tossing to CNBC Europe for a market update. “The discovery of what police in London are calling an explosive device is having a big effect on the markets there,” he said.

But viewers wanting to know more about the “discovery” had to turn to CNN or FNC…

UPDATE at 6/30/07 1:45 am:

CBS News reports that a message was posted on a jihadi bulletin board hours before the car bomb was discovered: Was London Bomb Plot Heralded On Web?, Internet Forum Comment From Night Before: ‘London Shall Be Bombed’.

And there’s a Salman Rushdie connection.

Hours before London explosives technicians dismantled a large car bomb in the heart of the British capital’s tourist-rich theater district, a message appeared on one of the most widely used jihadist Internet forums, saying: “Today I say: Rejoice, by Allah, London shall be bombed.”

CBS News found the posting, which went on for nearly 300 words, on the “al Hesbah” chat room. It was left by a person who goes by the name abu Osama al-Hazeen, who appears regularly on the forum.

Al Hesbah is frequently used by international Sunni militant groups, including al Qaeda and the Taliban, to post propaganda videos and messages in their fight against the West. …

Al-Hazeen’s message begins: “In the name of God, the most compassionate, the most merciful. Is Britain Longing for al Qaeda’s bombings?”

Al-Hazeen decries the recent knighthood of controversial author Salman Rushdie as a blow felt by all British Muslims. “This ‘honoring’ came at a crucial time, a time when the whole nation is reeling from the crusaders attacks on all Muslim lands,” he said, in an apparent reference to the British role in Iraq.

“We say to Britain: The Emir of al Qaeda, Sheikh Osama, has once threatened you, and he carried out his threats. Today I say: Rejoice, by Allah, London shall be bombed,” the message reads.

Sheik Yer’mami sez: Looks like Allah was not ‘willing’…

Current aid will not stop Gaza humanitarian crisis: UN

* Fitzgerald: It is absurd that the American government, that any Infidel government, that any Infidel taxpayers are being forced by their governments anywhere to support Muslims in the style to which they have grown accustomed — to wit, living on the disguised Jizyah of foreign aid from Infidels. They consider themselves entitled to this even though they remain implacably committed to the Islamic view of Infidels and, certainly in the case of the “Palestinian” Arabs of Fatah, determined to make life hell for the Israelis.

Humanitarian aid flowing into the Gaza Strip since Hamas violently seized power two weeks ago is not enough to prevent a dire humanitarian crisis, the UN warned on Friday.

Over 1,500 tonnes of food, including nearly 400 tonnes of wheat and 569 tonnes of animal feed, as well as an additional 300,000 litres of milk, passed from Israel into the Gaza Strip on Friday, the army said in a statement.

But this fell far short of the amount of food, medical equipment and cement needed daily in Gaza to prevent a severe humanitarian crisis in the impoverished territory, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said.

“One hundred and seventy-five truckloads of basic humanitarian aid have to get into the Gaza Strip every day in order to stave off a humanitarian crisis,” spokesman Christopher Gunness told AFP.

“The amount of supplies getting in today is not enough to stop a humanitarian crisis in Gaza,” where 80 percent of the 1.5 million Palestinians depend on external aid flowing mainly through Israel, he said.

Israel sealed Gaza’s borders when Hamas, whose charter calls for the destruction of the Jewish state, seized control of the territory on June 15 after routing Palestinian Authority security services.

Although Israel has allowed emergency deliveries in through various crossing points, the general closure has raised alarm about the impact on Gaza.

“We need the Karni crossing fully functioning now in order to allow food and cement necessary for urgent infrastructure works and housing projects to get in,” Gunness said referring to the main imports-exports terminal.

Netherlands: “Cut benefits to burqa wearers”

Spine Discovered in Holland

* If “the behaviour of the job seeker prevented him or her from finding a job,” that is the responsibility of the individual in question, not of the state.

“‘Cut benefits to burqa wearers,'” from Expatica via DW
THE HAGUE – A majority in Parliament wants the government to allow municipalities to cut benefits if the recipients are unable to find a job because they wear a burqa.
A motion to this effect from Liberal VVD MP Atzo Nicolaï and Labour PvdA MP Hans Spekman was passed on Tuesday.

Coalition party PvdA and opposition party VVD are concerned about a verdict from the court in Amsterdam earlier this month. The court found in preliminary proceedings that the municipality Diemen had unlawfully docked the benefits of a Muslim woman who wears a burqa because she had been unable to find a job after four job applications.

Aboutaleb has said in earlier debates with Parliament that the case in Diemen should be put in perspective. He says it is just “one case,” while there have also been court verdicts that have found in favour of municipalities in cases where the behaviour of the job seeker prevented him or her from finding a job. One of these cases also concerned the wearing of a burqa.

* One case is one too many.

Burqas: hazardous to your health

Human beings need sunshine. “Are Muslim dress codes bad for women’s health?,” by Preeti Aroon for Foreign Policy via DW

Conservative Muslim dress codes may be causing vitamin D deficiency in women by limiting their exposure to sunlight, humans’ main source for the vitamin, according to new research.
Scientists had previously found high rates of vitamin D deficiency in Arab and East Indian women living in the United Arab Emirates.
A follow-up study investigated the effect of vitamin D supplements on 178 UAE women, many of whom covered themselves entirely, faces and hands included, when outside their homes. Only two of the women did not have vitamin D deficiency prior to receiving supplements. The results were published by a team of scientists in the June issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Mufti of Egypt bans female circumcision

Sort of.     He doesn’t really mean it. And his proclamation will not help 97 % of Egyptian women to get their clitoris back either…

Egypt’s state-appointed Grand Mufti said today female genital cutting is forbidden by Islam.
His pronouncement came after an 11-year-old girl died while undergoing the procedure at a private medical clinic in southern Egypt.

Genital cutting of girls, often referred to as female genital mutilation or circumcision, is banned in Egypt although the practice remains widespread as a rite of passage for girls and is often viewed as a way to protect their chastity.

“The harmful tradition of circumcision that is practised in Egypt in our era is forbidden,” Mufti Ali Gomaa was quoted as saying by the Egyptian state news agency MENA.

There are a couple of weasel words in there. Does he mean that if it is practiced in a different way from how it is practiced in Egypt in our era, it would be all right?

Ali Gomaa, the statue-hatin’, wife-beatin’, Hizballah-supportin’ Mufti of Egypt, now says that female genital mutilation is wrong, apparently reversing the Shafi’i school’s traditional judgment that it is obligatory (cf. ‘Umdat al-Salik e4.3). It will be interesting to see what actions, if any, he takes in order to back up this ruling.
