           Australia drops Ahmadinejad case

The Australian government has abandoned plans to take international legal action against Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

                             

Mr Ahmadinejad has made several anti-Israel remarks in past speeches.

Australian foreign minister, Stephen Smith, told parliament he did not wish to “give further profile to these obscene remarks”.  He also cited the complexity of the issues and the high legal threshold required to bring forward a case. “Complexity” translated means “lets put it in the too-hard basket”/ed

Accused of anti-Semitism, Ahmadinejad meets Jews

*  Neturei Karta is a fringe group of loons who believe Israel should not exist. They exist only to be used for propaganda by Islamaniacs,  Antisemites, the Associated Press and Reuters who make sure to photograph and write about them every single time they surface at an anti-Israel event. NEW YORK (Reuters) - A day after being accused of making anti-Semitic comments at the United Nations, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met a fringe group of ultra-religious Jews who seek the dismantling of the state of Israel.

“Zionism has greatly weakened and, God willing, it will be destroyed soon and then all Jews, Muslims and Christians can live peacefully with one another,” Ahmadinejad told nearly a dozen rabbis from Neturei Karta International on Wednesday.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday (Sept. 23) used the  platform of the U.N. General Assembly to lash out once again at the U.S. and Israel, telling world leaders, “[The] American empire in the world is reaching the end of its road…”

Speaking about Israel, Ahmadinejad said, “Today, the Zionist regime is on a definite slope to collapse, and there is no way for it to get out of the cesspool created by itself and its supporters.”

The 63rd session of the U.N. General Assembly began on Sept. 16, and the general debate is scheduled for Sept. 23 - Oct. 1.

Ahmadinejad’s comments Tuesday echo past remarks he has made, including calls to annihilate Israel and threats to the U.S. and other countries that supportIsrael. In June, Ahmadinejad said, “The countdown for the decline of America’s demonic power has begun.” [1] A month earlier, Ahmadinejad said, “If countries in the region continue to [support] Israel they will be burned by the wrath of the nations.” [2]
