Typical evasion of responsibility.

That’s because that’s what the Muslims who do it call it. (But hey, snappers got nothing to do with Islam…. at least, not until they snap/ed)

The US military faces fraught questions about the recruitment, safety and role of Muslims in the armed services after a shooting massacre blamed on a devout Muslim officer.

About 3500 service members in the 1.4 million-strong US armed forces call themselves Muslim, and the man suspected of slaying 13 people at a Texas army base on Thursday, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, is one of them. Brisbane Times

KILLEEN, Texas – Leaders of the vibrant Muslim community here expressed outrage on Friday at the shooting rampage being laid to one of their members, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who had become a regular attendee of prayers at the local mosque.

But some of the men who had befriended Major Hasan at the mosque said the military should examine the policies that might have caused him to snap.

That’s because that’s what the Muslims who do it call it.

“Ultimately it was Brother Nidal’s doing, but the command should be held accountable,” Mr. Benjamin said. “G.I.’s are like any equipment in the Army. When it breaks, those who were in charge of keeping it fit should be held responsible for it.”…

Questions we should be asking, not out of a desire to excuse, but to explain actions that seem beyond words. But I worry that the mood in the US is dimming and turning in a more sinister direction. The questions we will be hearing are: why are Muslims in the military? And, do Muslims even belong in the United States? The allegiances of America’s Muslims, all of them and not just those in the military, will be called into question. Once again, we will be judged for an act we didn’t commit or condone and have loudly denounced.

Am I being irrational? I don’t think so.
