The French Senate approves a controversial bill that makes it a criminal offence to deny that Turks committed genocide against Armenians during World War I.

An extremist Islamist group known as “Knights of Pride(Forsane Alizza)” has been disbanded by order of the Interior Ministry for inciting racial hatred, security sources confirmed Monday.  The Muslim group, which has bases in Paris and in the central French city of Limoges, and other cities, denies the accusations.     (source Islam in Europe)

Fethullah Gulen, who seeks to establish a universal caliphate, is weeping again.

The radical Turkish imam, who seeks to revive the Ottoman Empire and to establish a universal caliphate, has spent millions to convince U.S. legislators and public school administrators that the Armenian holocaust of 1915 never occurred since it was a myth perpetrated by Western historians.

But Gulen’s attempt to whitewash history has been rejected by a US appeals court, which upheld a ruling that blocks schools in the state of Massachusetts from teaching literature that denies the mass killing of Armenian Christians by Ottoman Turks in 1915 as genocide.

The ruling came in response to a 2005 lawsuit filed by the Assembly of Turkish American Associations, a US lobbying under the control of Gulen and his movement of militant Islamists. A lower court dismissed the suit in June, and the appeals court upheld that decision on Wednesday.

State curriculum in Massachusetts requires schools to teach a unit about the Armenian genocide, the Holocaust, and other “recognized human rights violations and genocides.

The appeals court ruled that “law would not allow the genocide denial actions that the plaintiffs sought.”

Historians have concluded that more than one million Armenians were killed in 1915, and contemporaneous reports from newspapers and foreign embassies often called the killings “systematic.”

The International Association of Genocide Scholars affirmed in 2005 that the killings were genocide.

Gulen’s lobbying group maintains that less than 100,000 Armenian Christians were put to death by the Ottoman Turks and that the killings were part of a broader civil unrest.

Though denial of the Armenian holocaust is now outlawed in Massachusetts, other states have not followed suit and Gulen’s whitewashed version is taught in schools throughout the country, including the hundreds of Gulen charter schools that have cropped up on American soil in recent years.

Gulen fled from his native Turkey in 1998 to escape arrest for attempting to overthrow the secular Turkish government.

With his vast fortune – - estimated in excess of $25 billion, he took up residence in Pennsylvania, where he established a mountain fortress on 45 acres of land in Saylorsburg.

From Pennsylvania, he established thousands of Gulen schools (Islamic madrassas) throughout Turkey and Central Asia. The schools serve to indoctrinate students in the tenets of militant Islam and the plans for a universal caliphate.

It’s been alleged that Gulen also used his funds – - reportedly derived from the CIA and the drug trade – - to establish the Justice and Democratic Party (Adalet ve Kalkinma, AKP) in Turkey.

The AKP now remains in control of Turkey’s government.

Abdullah Gul, Turkey’s first Islamist President, is a Gulen disciple along with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Yusuf Ziya Ozcan, the head of Turkey’s Council of Higher Education.

Under the AKP, Turkey has transformed from a secular state into an Islamic country with 85,000 active mosques – - one for every 350- citizens – - the highest number per capita in the world, 90,000 imams, more imams than teachers and physicians – - and thousands of state-run Islamic schools.

Despite the rhetoric of European Union accession, Turkey has transferred its alliance from Europe and the United States to Russia and Iran. It has moved toward friendship with Hamas, Hezbollah, and Syria and created a pervasive anti-Christian, anti-Jewish, and anti-America animus throughout the populace.

The Gulen schools in the United States are funded by US taxpayers and benefactors, such as Bill Gates of Microsoft fame. In Texas alone, the schools receive over $44 million in public funds.

Gulen, who has established ties to leading American politicians from Hillary Clinton to George W. Bush, has been called “the most dangerous Islamist on earth.”

Turks find “evidence” of genocide committed by… Armenians

That’s why its called ‘turking’ it:

(Ankara) In the strange logic that passes for transparency in the Islamic world, Turkey today revealed how scientists have exhumed pieces of human bones allegedly showing massacre of Muslim Turks by Armenians in the eastern province of Erzurum. They then go on to bang their drum about how 9,553 people were massacred by Armenian gangs and how around 50,000 people in the surrounding provinces were butchered by Armenian gangs.

Anybody else find it strange how while the Turks will literally kill you if you mention the Armenian genocide, they have no problem inventing genocides in which to play the Islamic game of ”I am a victim”? Which kind of explains why they have no problem promoting the deaths of 9 jihadists who wanted to die, as a genocide, yet remain very silent on how 94 Muslims were murdered while at the mosque a couple of days before the Allah boat hit a few rocks.

In a statement issued during a weekend retreat in North Carolina, US President Barack Obama on Saturday (April 24) re-affirmed his “own view of what occurred in 1915,” but, as expected, did not use the word “genocide” on this day marked worldwide by Armenians as the startup of a genocidal campaign 95 years ago by Ottoman Turks that killed 1.5 million.

It is “a devastating chapter in the history of the Armenian people, and we must keep its memory alive in honor of those who were murdered and so that we do not repeat the grave mistakes of the past,” Obama said in his statement.

Activists outside the White House, led by Armenian National Committee of America’s executive director Aram Hamparian held a protest encouraging Obama to “keep your promise”.

In his second Day of Remembrance statement since becoming president, Obama – who as a candidate had vowed to recognize the Genocide – used words now familiar to Armenian sympathizers who have lived through more than a decade of US presidents who betrayed campaign promises on the issue.

“On this solemn day of remembrance, we pause to recall that 95 years ago one of the worst atrocities of the 20th century began,” he said in a statement released while the president played golf.

“I have consistently stated my own view of what occurred in 1915, and my view of that history has not changed,” the statement said. “It is in all of our interest to see the achievement of a full, frank and just acknowledgment of the facts.”

The president’s statement says he is “encouraged by the dialogue among Turks and Armenians, and within Turkey itself, regarding this painful history.” Obama did not mention, however, that – since a sharply-worded address by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan Thursday, accusing Turkey of having stonewalled efforts at normalization — dialogue has effectively been silenced between the two enemy states.

The Turks still deny  the genocide of the Armenian people. Successive Turkish governments were responsible for the state murder of over 2 million Armenians and 300 000 Greeks.

STOCKHOLM - Sweden’s parliament narrowly approved a resolution Thursday recognizing the 1915 mass killing of Armenians in Turkey as genocide, prompting the Turkish government to recall its ambassador in protest.

The measure passed with a one-vote margin in a surprise decision that came a week after a U.S. congressional committee approved a similar resolution.

Sweden’s governing center-right coalition opposed the measure but it passed in a 131-130 vote because a handful of center-right lawmakers broke party lines. Eighty-eight lawmakers were absent in the 349-seat assembly.

“After 95 years it is time for people who have suffered so long to obtain redress,” said Gulan Avci, a Liberal Party lawmaker who broke her party’s line and backed the measure, which had been proposed by the left-leaning opposition. Avci is a Kurdish immigrant from Turkey.

Historians estimate that up to 1.5 million Armenians were killed by Ottoman Turks around the time of World War I. Turkey denies that the deaths constituted genocide, saying the toll has been inflated and those killed were victims of civil war and unrest.

Turkey recalled its ambassador to Sweden immediately after the vote and the Anatolia news agency reported that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan canceled a visit to Sweden on March 17.

“We condemn the decision. Our government, and our people strongly reject the resolution crippled by big mistakes and devoid of basis,” the Turkish government said in a statement.

The resolution also labeled as genocide the killings of Assyrians and Pontian Greeks, ethnic groups that also suffered under the Ottoman Turks.

Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt said he regretted the Parliament’s decision, saying it “will unfortunately not have a positive effect on the ongoing normalization process between Turkey and Armenia.”

The U.S. congressional committee approved a similar measure there in a 23-22 vote that would send it to the full House of Representatives, if the leadership decided to bring it up. Minutes after the vote, Turkey withdrew its ambassador to the U.S.

Turkish Ambassador to Sweden Zergun Koruturk told Anatolia that the Parliament’s decision was harmful for relations between the two countries.

“I hope they are aware of the damage done here,” she said.

Countries recognizing the genocide include Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, Russia, Canada, Lebanon, Belgium, Greece, Italy, the Vatican, France, Switzerland, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Poland, Lithuania and Cyprus.

By a knife-edge vote, after more than three hours of debate, the House Committee on Foreign Affairs approved a resolution calling on President Obama to “characterise the systematic and deliberate annihilation of 1.5 million Armenians as genocide”.

The vote went ahead despite last-minute pleas from the White House and State Department and triggered a furious reaction from Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish Prime Minister.

“We condemn this resolution, which accuses the Turkish nation of a crime it has not committed,” Ankara said.

Obama doesn’t want to offend Turkey with the truth in order to try and hold on to Turkey as some sort of ally. Only Turkey has been sliding into the orbit with Iran and becoming more and more Islamist.

Turkey recently purged secular military officers because they are afraid of a secular coup that would stop the Islamist slide.

(ABC) The Obama administration asked the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee to cancel a vote scheduled for today on a bill recognizing the Armenian genocide. The chairman of the committee, Rep. Howard Berman, D-Calif., is going forward with the bill “mark up” and vote regardless.

The bill, H. Res. 252, recognizes as genocide the “systematic and deliberate annihilation of 1,500,000 Armenians” as ordered by the Turkish government from 1915 to 1923. It’s the kind of statement then-Sen. Obama supported; as a candidate for president, he said, “America deserves a leader who speaks truthfully about the Armenian Genocide and responds forcefully to all genocides. I intend to be that President.”

During the campaign, Candidate Obama promised anything to anybody just to get votes, and in many of those cases those promises have already been broken. Today broken promise was made to the Armenian Community. During the campaign he made a firm vow that he would be the first president to label the 1915 massacres of Armenians by Ottoman Turks “genocide,” a move that would infuriate our allies in Turkey, but something of great importance to the Armenian Community.

He was so firm on the promise that he had adviser Samantha Power make a video promising that as president, Obama would keep to his word (see above) 

Today Obama issued a written statement on Armenian Remembrance Day, calling the killings of more than 1.5 million people as “one of the great atrocities of the 20th century.”Notice that the key word was missing?

Instead, he used the Armenian term for the killings, “Meds Yeghern” which has been variously translated as “The Great Calamity” or “Great Disaster.” The term predates the use of the word “genocide” but is sometimes used by Armenians to refer to the killings.

Obama said reckoning with the past was the best way for the Turkish and Armenian people to work through their “painful history” in a “way that is honest, open and constructive.”

During his election campaign, Obama said in a speech that he had stood with the Armenian American community in calling for Turkey’s acknowledgement of the “Armenian Genocide.”

Despite bowing to diplomatic convention, Obama said in his statement issued on Friday that he had not changed his mind.

“I have consistently stated my own view of what occurred in 1915, and my view of that history has not changed. My interest remains the achievement of a full, frank and just acknowledgement of the facts.”…
…The Armenian Assembly of American complained that Obama had “failed to deliver on the change he promised.”

“Empty promises are no change at all,” said Assembly Executive Director Bryan Ardouny. 

Turkey, which Obama visited on his first overseas trip this month, categorically rejects the use of the word genocide, which is officially recognized by France and Canada as well as the European Parliament.Source 

To be honest I cannot tell you what the right thing for the President to have done. Killing 1 Million plus innocents is genocide, but Turkey is an important ally and we don’t want to upset them.  But he should have thought of that before he made the promise.  What I know for certain, this is one more example of President Obama breaking a campaign promise, I wonder which one he will break next.
