Nevertheless, you see how Iran is making America’s head spin, even though [the UN] issued a report accusing Iran of making a nuclear bomb. Enough talking about Islamic countries. Take a look at North Korea.

In Egypt, we have a ministry called the Ministry of Military Production, which was established in 1979, 32 years ago. They established the Arab Organization for Industrialization. They went to all the respected people, and said to them: “We won’t tell you anything about what the Ministry of Military Production does. It will continue to be a military secret, for the sake of our country’s strength.”

For 32 years, the people did not know if any military production was being done. As a result, we have not produced anything but heaters and gas cylinders. Suddenly, this year, they said: “By the way, we have produced a tank.” This is a tank that nobody has heard of. I asked all my friends and relatives, as well as people serving in the army. I spoke with officers and soldiers, and asked them if they had seen the tank that we have manufactured. Nobody has seen it. It’s an invisible tank, like in “Candid Camera.”

On the other hand, North Korea, which used “to play in the mud,” now possesses nuclear warheads, which strike terror in America because it sees a country that stands on its own feet.

We used to say that we would throw [Israel] into the sea, and that we would fight and enter Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The result was that they crushed our country so hard that the Sinai was completely occupied twice in 11 years. What a catastrophe – twice within 11 years.

The first time – when the enemy retreated from the Sinai in 1956 – it retreated only partially and continued to occupy a certain region. But this 11-year-long Israeli occupation of Egypt was kept a secret. The Egyptian people knew nothing about this. Between 1956 and 1967, the Egyptian people did not know that part of Sinai was still occupied, or that Israeli ships continued to pass with their flags flying high. Then, in 1967, when Sinai was again occupied in its entirety, the regime said: “By the way, part of it was occupied for the past 11 years, and you did not know about it.”

Look at the Gulf of Aqaba on the map. It looks like a small canal. By Allah, it looks like a canal. If not for the Gulf of Aqaba, the Jews would suffocate and die, because this is the only artery through which they can export goods to backward Africa. Without it, they won’t be able to export to Africa, and what could they possibly export to Europe and America? The Gulf of Aqaba is nothing more than a canal. If the Egyptians were to sit along the coastline – I am talking about civilians, not the army… If civilians were allowed to be present in that area, the Israeli economy would die on the spot, because any ship passing through would be in danger.

News of an Islamist massacre of two Christian Coptic families has emerged from Upper Egypt with the return of Internet connections to the country, after a one-week Internet blackout imposed by the troubled regime. The massacre, not the first in Egypt in recent weeks,  took place on Sunday afternoon (January 30) at the village of Sharona near Maghagha, in Minya province, and is being reported by AINA, the Assyrian International News Agency.

In addition, they looted everything that was in the two Coptic houses, including money, furniture and electrical equipment. They also looted livestock and grain.”

One group of masked assailants infiltrated the home of Copt Joseph Waheeb Massoud and killed him, his wife Samah, their 15-year old daughter Christine and 8-year-old son Fady Youssef. Another group simultaneously accessed the house of Copt Saleeb Ayad Mayez and shot him dead, along with his wife Zakia, their 4-year-old son Joseph and 3-year-old daughter Justina, Saleeb’s 23-year-old sister Amgad, his mother Zakia and a woman named Saniora Fahim.

“The massacre has nothing to do with the mayhem in Egypt,” the bishop said, “but the murderers took advantage of the lack of police protection and thought they could commit their crime and no one would notice.”

“Why have those Islamists chosen those two Coptic families and not Muslim ones to slaughter and rob? I believe it is because they know that with Copts they can literally get away with murder,” accused Coptic activist Dr. Hanna Hanna.

Coptic activist Dr. Hanna Hanna views the Mubarak era with its policy of impunity to be the cause of why Copts are targeted. “Why have those Islamists chosen those two Coptic families and not Muslim ones to slaughter and rob? SHARM EL-SHEIKH (Reuters) – Shark attacks on tourists in the Red Sea have triggered a flurry of speculation as to what could have caused them, with suggestions ranging from overfishing to an Israeli plot to harm Egyptian tourism.The body of a 70-year-old German woman washed up on the shore at Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh on the Red Sea after an attack Sunday. Officials said the shark had taken a chunk out of her right thigh and bitten through her right elbow.

Egypt had just lifted a ban on swimming in parts of the area imposed after three Russians and a Ukrainian were injured in shark attacks last week.

The government has invited international experts to help locate the killer shark but officials were at loss as to what could have caused its behaviour.

“There is not one reason that will be ignored. We are seeking any reason that causes a change in shark behaviour,” Ahmed el-Edkawi, assistant secretary for the South Sinai region, told Reuters.

Some said sharks had been drawn to shallow waters after cattle being shipped in for last month’s Islamic feast of the sacrifice, or Eid al-Adha, had died and were thrown overboard.

Others suggested it could have been part of a secret plot by Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency.

“What is being said about the Mossad throwing the deadly shark (in the sea) to hit tourism in Egypt is not out of the question, but it needs time to confirm,” South Sinai Governor Mohamed Abdel Fadil Shousha was quoted as saying by state news site egynews.net….

Cairo (AsiaNews/Agencies) – Hundreds of Egyptian security forces, backed by a large number of cars and armoured vehicles, attacked the monastery of St Macarius of Alexandria in Wadi Rayan, Fayoum Province, 150 kilometres south of Cairo. The action began at 8 pm on 7 September, but news about it only filtered recently. About 300 agents took part in the assault, using tear gas, batons and stones against monks, three of whom were seriously wounded.

According to the AINA news agency, security forces prevented the delivery of limestone bricks for the construction of cells for the monks inside the ancient Monastery. They also tried to seize the bricks already delivered but the monks sat on them, refusing to move.

The issue concerns the ownership of the area and its use, with monks and the government holding different positions.

The authorities claim that Wadi Rayan is a conservation area that cannot be touched. The monks say they must build cells inside the monastery, which goes back long before it was ever designated as a conservation area.

Excessive force, to say the least, for a putative land use/code compliance issue.

Security forced surrounded the Monastery until 12 AM the following day, but withdrew “after seeing the insistence of monks to assert their rights,” said Fr Boulos el-Makkary, one of the 85 monks living in the monastery. “They left with the commander promising to be back soon.”

“The monks believe that the government wants to prevent any construction on the premises to prevent any increase in the number of monks living there, even though cells for the monks are badly needed,” Father Boulos added.

At present, cells are shared by five to eight monks even though each should have his own.

The Monastery of St Macarius, also known as the “Buried Monastery” since most of its cells are caves in the mountain, has been uninhabited for a long time because of the lack of electricity and water. However, in 1996 monks began living there permanently and obtained permission from the Minister of Environment.

Police in India have arrested Islamic cleric Abdul Nasser Madani in connection with blasts that hit the city of Bangalore in mid-2008.

Abdul Nasser Madani was arrested at his home in the state of Kerala.

He accuses the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Karnataka, whose capital is Bangalore, of “framing” him.

Q: “When you began your [role] as the sheikh of Al-Azhar, you said that Al-Azhar’s first duty is to achieve national unity. How [is this to be done]? By embracing Patriarch Shenouda again, as we do in every crisis?”

A: “The ties between Islam and Christianity are numerous and tight, and there are family and marriage ties between Christians and Muslims – so preserving national unity is part of Al-Azhar’s religious duty. When a Muslim maintains good relations with his Christian neighbor, he fulfils a [religious] duty for which he will be rewarded on the Day of Judgment. Al-Azhar’s duty is to review the books of Muslim history and tradition, and the directives of the [Muslim] faith, and draw from them the wealth of Muslim traditions that encourage good relations with the Copts – because our faith commands us to do this in order to preserve national unity. The Coptic Church must do the same with respect to the cultural tradition of [friendship] with the Muslims. I think that there will be cooperation in this area.”

‘governments,’ which have given up their sovereignty in order to appease the
U.S. ambassadors.

“Yesterday, the Egyptian press reported that the U.S. ambassador to Cairo,
Margaret Scobey, had made a surprise visit to the headquarters of [Egypt's]
National Human Rights Council, where she demanded clarifications from the
head of the council, Moqbel Shaker, about the death of an Egyptian young man
named Khaled Sa’id on June 6, [2010] at a police station in Alexandria. The
old bag’s wild behavior did not stop there. She also visited Egypt’s
minister of legal and parliamentary affairs, Dr. Moufid Shehab, for exactly
the same reason. This was an infringement on Egypt’s sovereignty and
interference in its internal affairs. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry should
have asked the U.S. State Department to put the old bag in her place!…

“[The young man,] Khaled Sa’id, was an Egyptian citizen, as are the two
policemen suspected of killing him, and the case is being handled by the
Egyptian justice system… Therefore, Scobey has no right to interfere in
Egypt’s affairs. This is arrogance  and even worse, stupidity  on
America’s part, and it must be stopped.
“But the most painful [example] of American stupidity was provided by U.S.
State Department spokesman Philip Crowley. When the U.S. administration got
the impression that the inter-Arab reconciliation was being renewed, Crowley
said: ‘Damascus must listen carefully [and internalize] the need to get away
from Tehran.’ Crowley’s statement cannot be regarded as anything other than
political blackmail of the most despicable kind. Its purpose was to sabotage
inter-Arab relations, and to leave Lebanon vulnerable without an Arab
umbrella to protect it from civil war and from Israel’s [aggression]. If the
U.S. wanted to dismantle the Syria-Iran alliance, it could have asked Syria
directly, but Crowley made this silly statement in order to sabotage the
inter-Arab reconciliation.

“Returning to the issue of the U.S.’s wild behavior in Egypt, and Ambassador
Scobey’s surprise visits… I think that the silence on the part of the
Egyptian administration encourages Scobey to continue this wild behavior.
Why did the Egyptian Foreign Ministry summon the ambassadors of the European
Union in Cairo in protest of a statement [they] issued about the death of
Khaled Sa’id? Why didn’t the Egyptian Foreign Ministry ask the State
Department to curb the behavior of Ambassador Scobey, as it did with the
European ambassadors?”
