Misogyny Celebrated:

“The trophy is really impressive, something that reflects on the tradition of the region,” Armas [as seen in photo] said. “I don’t think I have ever seen such a fine trophy. I congratulate the people behind creating this work,” she added. (Source)

Eric Holder’s World Cup Soccer Blackout

After the debacle that was the high-profile Oprah-and-Michelle-Obama politicking in Copenhagen to get the Summer Olympics in Chicago in 2016, it might not be surprising that the networks weren’t heavily tracking the U.S. bid to attract the World Cup soccer tournament for 2022. (You could argue that U.S. sports fans are much more indifferent to the World Cup than to the Olympics.) The American delegation that traveled to Switzerland included soccer stars, and former president Bill Clinton, and an Obama cabinet member. The Secretary of Commerce, perhaps? No, Attorney General Eric Holder.

When the tournament was awarded oddly to Qatar on December 2 (promising air-conditioned stadiums since summer temps are in the 120s, not to mention how global warming might ruin the planet by 2022), there was no mention on ABC,CBS, or NBC — or The Washington Post, or the Los Angeles Times, or USA Today, for that matter. But that night, Monica Crowley and Sean Hannity did take it apart on Fox News: (NewsBusters)

* France is, and has been, bankrupt in more ways than one and for a long time.

Will the “Grande Nation” establish a mercenary army to protect Arab sheik’s fiefdoms?

Qur’an (5:51) - “O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends or protectors; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.

From GalliaWatch

According to Le Figaro, June 15 , a commitment by Sarkozy between Paris and Abu Dhabi commit France to defend the seven Emirates “by all the military means at her disposal”. This would include nuclear weapons as well.

                                     Sarkozy in Abu Dhabi.

An item in Novopress, using Le Figaro as its source, announces the stunning news that is creating a stir at all the websites, concerning France’s secret commitment to fight for the United Arab Emirates:

According to Le Figaro, June 15, the secret clauses of an agreement concluded at the end of May between Paris and Abu Dhabi commit France to defend the seven Emirates “by all the military means at her disposal”. This would include nuclear weapons as well.

Note: The source article in Le Figaro points out that the word “nuclear” does not appear in the text:

“It would be contrary to the philosophy of dissuasion, which consists of saying the least possible on the doctrine of use”, explained a diplomat who consulted the agreement.

Novopress goes on:

This clause that places the Emirates under the protection of the French nuclear umbrella appears to be more binding than article 5 of the NATO treaty that commits the member nations to help one another when one of them is attacked.

It is an agreement of incalculable consequences for the security of France, at moment when Iran intends to develop nuclear weaponry, thus constituting as serious a threat for the oil-rich monarchies as for Israel.

On May 26, President Sarkozy inaugurated a permanent French military base in Abu Dhabi. This complex of 400 men that includes a naval base, an air base and a training camp, situated on the banks of the Ormuz strait facing Iran “illustrates the responsibilities that France, a global power, intends to take on alongside its privileged partners in a one of the world’s nerve centers”, declared the French president on this occasion. It was an official visit on behalf of civilian nuclear energy as well, since the management of the Areva consortium accompanied the president.

During his presidential campaign in 2007, candidate Sarkozy had promised the French people to reexamine the defense agreements linking France to her allies, to have them approved by Parliament and to make them public. Clearly, a promise that was meant only for those who placed him in office.

Note: Some Figaro readers wonder how such a “secret” agreement came to be made public and whether or not Le Figaro has a right to print such confidential information. Most of the comments I read there were unfavorable.

While browsing the web, yesterday, I viewed the Arab Times online site and came across several news articles about the rape and abuse of maids in Kuwait. I was surprised at the cluster of cases so I searched the web for more information and was nearly knocked off my chair when I realized the enormous extent of the huge numbers of foreign maids suffering abuse at the hands of their Middle East “sponsors”. To use the term “maid” is a misnomer – these women (and boys) are nothing more than modern day SLAVES. Slaves to be abused, raped, tortured, maimed, and killed.

Many of these maids come into the Middle East (particularly Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Lebanon) from Indonesia, the Phillipines, Sri Lanka and Ethiopia – smaller numbers come from India and Bangladesh. Saudi Arabia has the largest number of these imported domestics estimated at 200,000 in 2004. These maids are seen as inferiors to their Middle Eastern masters and many countries do not even recognize them as being covered by labor laws – including minimum wage:

“The plight of domestic workers in Lebanon rose to the spotlight during the summer of 2006, when Israel launched a thirty-four-day military offensive on Lebanon. In Arabic, the term “Abed” is used to denote a “black” person or “slave” and the word is sometimes heard in reference to Africans or Sri Lankans. Non-Arab Afro-Asian migrants in Lebanon are physically looked upon as inferior due to their positions as servants. These workers remain excluded under Article 6 of Lebanese labour laws and are often victims of abuse by both employers and agencies.” LINK

The vast majority of these women are seeking an opportunity to earn money and send remittances back to their families -

“…….Phillipines, where the economy relies heavily on remittances from nearly eight million Filipinos working overseas. Of that eight million, about 73,000 work in Kuwait. Some 60,000 are women employed mainly as maids and earning less than $200 a month on average, labor groups say.

Some of these woman do quickly realize the danger and manage to escape in a few days. But, many of the remaining ”servants” are left in a living nightmare.

Here are some of the sickening stories of abuse, etc that I came across with a quick net search:
