Our peace-partners in action…..

Islamic supremacist pseudo-moderate Reza Aslan is a clown, and the only proper response to clowns is laughter, but if any of the multitudes of useful idiots and dupes in Washington heed his advice, it could be lethal: he is also a Board member of a group that is widely regarded as an apologetic vehicle for the Islamic Republic of Iran, and is now calling upon the U.S. to negotiate with the jihad terrorists of Hamas.

In “Obama’s Middle East policy Is a Failure,” which is part of a dialogue entitled “The Middle East Peace Process: Opposing Views” at the Huffington Post, October 29, Aslan says this:

All is not necessarily lost. The president still has an opportunity, particularly after the midterm elections, to reinvigorate the Middle East peace process. It means breaking from the Bush-era policy of pitting Hamas and Fatah against each other and instead using intermediaries to bring Hamas into the negotiations.

It is important to recall why Hamas is on the terror list in the first place: consider the “Glory Record” that used to be on its website. You can still see it here, via the Wayback Machine. Just in case that is not accessible, here are some excerpts in which Hamas considered attacks on Israeli civilians something that gave it “glory”:

Hamas operations -The Glory Record[...] 3. Boureen Operation: The militant Hamdan Hussein Al:najar, a member of Hamas, killed the Israeli settler Ya’coub Berey using a big rock as his weapon. The militant was shot down as a martyr after he had ambushed an Israeli patrol using the dead settler’s weapon.

[...] 6. Bus No. 405 Operation: Militant Ahmed Hussein Shukry, a member of Hamas, was able to lead an Israeli soldier to a secluded place in Tel Aviv where the militant hit the soldier with a chisel and killed him on 8 September 1989. The following day, the militant got on bus No. 405 and stabbed the driver to take over the bus; however, the passengers were able to stop the militant.

[...] 12. Keryat Youval Operation: The militant Mohammed Mustafa Abu Jalala stabbed four Israelis and injured another at a bus station in Keryat Youval in Jerusalem before he was arrested by the Israeli forces.

13. Askalan Road Operation: While driving a taxi, the militant Jameel Ismail Al:baz, a member of Hamas, ran over a group of Israelis waiting on this road on 19 July 1991. He was able to kill corporal Nadaf Der’ey and injure another soldier. Then the militant was able to escape but he was later arrested by the Israeli forces.

[...] 15. Shailou Operation: A military group belonging to Al Qassam Brigades attacked an Israeli bus carrying some settlers on their way to Tel Aviv to participate in demonstrations organized by the extremist party Likud against the peace process. The bus was completely destroyed; two Israelis were killed and five more were injured.

[...] 17. Eid Al-maskhara Operation: The militant Ra’ed Al:reefy attacked an Israeli crowd in Jaffa on 17 March 1992. He was able to kill 2 and injure 21 Israelis who gathered to celebrate Eid Al:maskhara, also known as Al:boureem.

18. Beit Lahya Operation: On the third anniversary of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin’s arrest, a group belonging to Al Qassam Brigades attacked an Israeli settler at Beit Lahya and shot him down then withdrew safely.

[...] 21. Carlo Factory Operation: Four militants belonging to Al Qassam Brigades broke into a citrus packing factory (Carlo) near Nahal Oaz at 2:30 p.m. on 25 June 1992. Three militants stabbed two Israelis while the other was guarding. The Hamas members wrote some slogans and considered this operation as a gift for Yitzhak Rabin on the occasion of winning the Israeli elections.

[...] 26. Al Haram Al-Ibrahimy Operation: Two militants belonging to Al Qassam Brigades attacked an Israeli group near Al Haram (the Shrine) in Hebron. One of the militants attacked the group while the other was on guard. The Israeli forces admitted that only one Israeli was killed and another was injured although the Israeli authorities were shocked by this audacious and well-planned operation. Thereafter they arrested many members of Hamas.

[...] 49. Martyr Hatem Al:muzein Operation: Despite the intensive existence of the Israeli forces, the Curfew and the military siege, a member of Al Qassam Brigades stabbed a 38-year-old Israeli settler, Sha’ya Doytch, from Kfar Yam, a settlement of Ghosh Qateif at 7:00 a.m., while he was working at his greenhouse west of Jan Oar. He was taken to Sarouka Hospital in Beir Sheiba’a, but he died one hour later.

[...] 56. The Revenge Operation: As soon as the Israeli forces announced the execution of the six heroes, Al Qassam Brigade militants put explosives in a 15-storey shopping centre in Tel Aviv on 16 May 1993. The building was completely destroyed and several Israelis were killed and others injured. The Israeli forces admitted that one Israeli had been killed and 40 were injured as a result of a gas bottle explosion in order to cover up the operation.

[...] 61. The Two Martyrs, Hatem Al-muhtaseb and Ya’coub Mutaw’e Operation: It was a violent clap for Rabin when a commando group belonging to Al Qassam Brigades hijacked a bus on HI-25 west of Jerusalem at 7:30 a.m. on 1 July 1993 during the rush hour. The group was able to penetrate the security siege and reached the target bus from 100 metres from the Israeli police headquarters. However, the passengers were able to leave the bus because something wrong happened and so the group engaged in battle with the Israeli forces. Meanwhile, the militants Maher Abu Srour and Mohammed Al-hindy hijacked another car driven by an Israeli lady after the militant Othman Saleh had been injured. They bombed the car and all three were killed in addition to another Israeli soldier and lady that were on the bus. The militant Othman Saleh was taken captive although he was unconscious and kept saying “Allahu Akbar” while the Israeli forces were investigating him. A manifest was found on him with the following demands:

A. The bus must be driven to the Lebanese borders.
B. Al:sheikh Ahmed Yassin must be safely released immediately.
C. Fifty captives belonging to Hamas, 50 belonging to the other Palestinian formations such as Fateh, Al:jehad Al:Islamy and the Democratic Front, etc., must be released.
D. Al-sheikh Abdelkareem Obeid must also be released.

[...] 67. Downtown Hebron Operation: During these serious conditions in which the disgraceful peace treaty was signed, the militants belonging to the Martyr Abdallah Azzam group ambushed an Israeli bus at the Hebron-Keryat Arba’a junction on Sunday, 12 September 1993. The militants shot the soldiers down and took their papers and weapons, including an M-16 rifle and a Klashenkoff after which they withdrew safely.

[...] 69. Askalan Operation: Al Qassam militants were quite active in the 1948-occupied territories when the militant Ala’a Al-kahlout stabbed an Israeli bus driver while travelling from Askalan to Asdoud on Sunday, 12 September 1993. The militant detonated all the explosives he had on the bus causing injuries to several Israelis. One of the passengers was able to shoot the militant down who was later martyred. The Israeli forces admitted that the bus driver was killed and three Israeli passengers were injured.

[...] 77. Beit Kahel Operation: In revenge for the bloodshed caused by the Israeli aggression and attacks on the Palestinian towns, villages and camps, Al Qassam Brigade militants ambushed Rabbi Haim Drucman’s car, a prominent chief of the racial Zionist movement, Gosh Amunim and an ex-member of Parliament. They fired at his car near the Beit Kahel junction at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, 7 November 1993. The driver was killed but the Rabbi, who is responsible for the settlement process, was seriously injured.

78. Hebron Operation: As part of the war waged by Al Qassam Brigades against the Israeli settlers, a group belonging to the battalion attacked a vehicle belonging to an Israeli settler near Hebron on Monday, 6 December 1993. Two settlers were killed and three were injured.

79. Hamas Operation: Two militants belonging to Al Qassam Brigades used a car to drive over an Israeli vehicle near Beitonia, southwest of Ramallah, at the industrial zone on Wednesday, 22 December 1993. They killed two and injured three other Israelis from Doulb, who were also in the car.

[...] 82. Al-khdeireh Operation: During the Israeli memorial day celebrations of the Israelis killed in the Arab-Israeli wars and one week after the revenge operation, the militant Ammar Amarneh, a member of Al Qassam Brigades, blew up an Israeli bus belonging to Eaged working on line 8 at Al:khdeireh, northwest of Tulkarm, on 31 April 1994. Five Israelis were killed and more than 32 were seriously injured.

[...] 85. Dezenkov Street Operation: In an immediate reaction to the previous operation, the militant Saleh Abdelraheem Sawy bombed an Israeli bus at Dezenkof Street in downtown Tel Aviv on 19 October 1994. The explosion was rather violent, leaving 22 Israelis dead, 47 injured and seriously damaging many shops. Israelis were confused and shocked by this operation, causing Yitzhak Rabin to shorten his visit to London.

Reza Aslan merits the contempt of all free people.

Update: just like the mythical Andalucia!

Sounds like a fairytale: how long will it last?

A wonderful supermarket opens in the West Bank, thrilling the Israeli and Arab shoppers (who get along just fine, thank you very much). Pajamas Media

The Hebrew-language newspaper reported that the head of Israel’s Civil Administration, Yoav Mordechai, contacted several PA officials to make the request and ultimately reached an agreement with the Ramallah-based government. A representative did not return a phone call from Ma’an seeking to confirm the report.

PA religious endowments (Awqaf) minister Mahmoud Al-Habbash confirmed some changes, such as holding Friday prayer in one mosque per village, however he said changes were made for religious reasons and not for the benefit of Israel’s settlers.

“Our religious affairs are not subject to political bargaining,” he told Ma’an radio on Monday.

“Israeli media fabricate such reports to serve political interests,” he added. “They try to create a gap between the Palestinian political leadership and the Palestinian people by taking on such sensitive religious issues.”

Hamas: PA against Islam

The awqaf minister also condemned Hamas, whose leadership quickly seized on the report and issued a strong rebuke to the PA. “Have Hamas and Israel formed a joint agenda dedicated to attacking the PA?” he said.

In the Gaza Strip, Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said the agreement proved that the “Abbas authority” was committed “not only to curbing the resistance, but has also expanded to fight the Islamic religion for the benefit of the occupation.”

Abu Zuhri said the latest move came in the context of other “actions to fight the Islamic faith in general” including the dismissal of a large number of Hamas-affiliated imams, muezzins, and orators from their jobs.

Regardless of the pretext, however, Israel’s settlers say they are happy with the agreement.

Settler leader Yitzhak Shedmi described the initiative as important and said his fellow West Bank settlers were already noticing the changes on the ground.

Bucktooth Bashir Might Face Death Penalty

“Al-Qaeda in Aceh”- AFP

JAKARTA — Indonesian police said Tuesday top radical Islamist preacher Abu Bakar Bashir could face the death penalty over his alleged role in terror plots with Al-Qaeda-linked militants.

Make no mistake: Ol’Bucktooth is preaching the real Islam, not the diluted version of the misunderstanders.

Bashir, who was arrested on Monday, is accused of funding and training extremists who were planning a wave of attacks in Jakarta.

“Our investigators found evidence that Abu Bakar Bashir had been actively involved in terror plots and activities including the training,” National police spokesman Edward Aritonang said.

Police have arrested 102 terror suspects, of whom 66 were detained, in a series of raids nationwide since discovering the training facility in Aceh, northern Sumatra island.

Aritonang said they found that several Islamic groups from regional terror network Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) to Jamaah Ansharut Tauhid (JAT) had also chosen Bashir as the leader for a new terror cell dubbed “Al-Qaeda in Aceh”.

The cell had planned a series of attacks, including using car bombs, on at least two embassies, several international hotels and the police headquarters in the capital.

The police discovered “Al-Qaeda in Aceh” in February and killed its leader Dulmatin, a JI militant, in March.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono ordered the police and military to increase security over an apparent plot against the president and officials at the August 17 independence day ceremony.

“I heard that this is not the first time that there is a threat when we are celebrating our independence,” said Yudhoyono.

He said “the police, with the assistance of the military, must increase security because our principle is we must not be defeated by crime”.

In raids in West Java on Saturday, police arrested five suspects, seized explosive materials at a bomb factory as well as a vehicle belonging to a French national which they suspected could be used as a car bomb.

Bashir, who is known for his hardline rhetoric, founded JAT in 2008 as a legitimate — although radical — group with which to continue agitating for Islamic law and militant jihad.

He served almost 26 months for conspiracy over the 2002 attacks by JI on Bali nightspots that killed 202 people, before being cleared and released in 2006.

The cleric was jailed by the Suharto regime from 1978 to 1982 for inciting people to reject the secular national ideology in favour of an Islamic state.

In “President Obama Rewards The Hamas Lobby” in Forbes today, Steven Emerson skewers Obama’s anti-Israel, pro-jihad actions:

Why is the terrorist group more interested in attacking Israel than improving the lives of its people?

A ship packed with violent, radical “activists” tries to run a blockade aimed at preventing terrorists from receiving illicit material. Video shows them beating commandos with clubs as they land on the ship, pelting them with slingshots and carrying knives.

What is America’s response? To demand that the nation whose soldiers were attacked conduct an investigation to “find out the facts.”

It is clear Israel sought to peacefully secure the Mavi Marmara on May 31 as it approached Gaza. But the hardened activists, who openly discussed their desire for martyrdom, weren’t going to let that happen. Fighting for their lives, the Israeli soldiers opened fire with their sidearms, killing nine people on the ship.

But that does not make the Obama administration’s demand for an investigation from an ally any more sensible. It was the first such demand made by the U.S. of another country, let alone an ally, in recent memory. There was no call for a probe on Russia’s treatment of Chechnyans, for Egypt’s persecution of the Christian Copts or for the murderous rampages against the Ahmadiyan Muslim sect in Pakistan.

Just Israel made the history books. Israel, however, has proof of what really happened. It released at least five videos on YouTube showing Israeli soldiers being attacked as they landed.

Moreover, details emerged about IHH–the Turkish charity instigating the attack–and its long history of abetting Islamic terrorist attacks and Islamic terrorist organizations. Reports produced by MEMRI showed the violent attack at sea was planned by radicals vowing to go to their “martyrdom.” By June 3 more YouTube videos appeared showing the efforts by the Turkish flotilla extremists to battle with the Israelis….

Yet Obama appears to be making the resident of the previous White House look like a genius compared to his own serious missteps in office. FoxNews

In the wake of the Gaza flotilla incident, anti-Israel activists around the world have worked to boost their message that the Gaza Strip is the most destitute place on earth, where famine and plague rule. But remarks by Gaza Palestinians to international media outlets covering the aid flotilla story paint a very different picture.

“There is no starvation in Gaza. No one has died of hunger,” Khalil Hamada, a senior official at Gaza’s Ministry of Justice, told London’s Daily Telegraph.
Egyptian Expert on International Law Hassan Ahmad Omar: Palestinian Allowed to Hijack Israeli Ships, But Flotilla Incident Constitutes Israeli Terrorism

Yawn!

Following are excerpts from an interview with Hassan Ahmad Omar, an Egyptian expert on international law, which aired on TRT Arabic on June 2, 2010.

Hassan Ahmad Omar: Several international treaties – like the Montreal Convention regarding aviation – state that crimes against airplanes or airports constitute international terrorism. The crime of hijacking, whether on the soil of a certain country, on a ship or airplane carrying the flag of a certain country, is considered international terrorism, according to that convention.

[...]

The Palestinians can take over Israeli ships at sea and take the people on board hostage, and this would not be considered a crime of international terrorism. Rather, this would be legitimate defense, as part of their struggle for independence and freedom, according to the same convention. The convention distinguishes between the two cases, and says that this is a heroic operation, and that fighters against forces of occupation and colonialism are entitled to carry out such an operation. The occupation and colonialist forces, however, are not allowed to commit such a crime, and they would face international prosecution.

[...]

This is the Partition Plan. The Acre province is here in the north, and it is Palestinian, according to the plan. It is my claim that the next war between Hizbullah and Israel will lead to the liberation of this province and to the transfer of half a million Palestinian refugees from Lebanon to here, in accordance with Article 6 of Security Council Resolution 1559.

As we have seen, Hizbullah is successful in forcing Israel to carry out international resolutions. Just as it forced Israel to carry out Resolution 425, it will force Israel to withdraw… This is the scenario that Israel fears – the return of the refugees in ships, 30,000 at a time, who would land in the Acre province in order to realize the Right of Return.

Aiding and abetting Islamic terrorism. “£19m in aid to Gaza” means aid for Hamas. Read the Hamas charter, here:

“Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.” (The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory).

There are no words. New UK government groveling to Islamists; the British government is attempting to placate Muslim pressure groups in the UK by saying, “Look at us, you’re not going to catch us being soft on Israel, we’re as furious and condemning as you are.”

The money, to be spent on healthcare, education and other services, (?) will be announced by International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell on Sunday.

It will go to the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), on which about 70% of Gazans rely to meet their basic needs.

The support comes amid heightened international concern about Israel’s blockade of Gaza after the violent confrontation on an aid ship this week.

But the money is part of a five-year £100 million funding arrangement with the UNRWA that was entered into in 2006.

Mr Mitchell, who has confirmed the latest tranche of support, reiterated the Government’s calls for Israel to allow aid into Gaza.

“The humanitarian situation in Gaza is both unacceptable and unsustainable,” he said.

“The UK is committed to helping those people affected by this crisis and that is why I am today providing £19 million to help meet their most basic needs.

“There is an immediate need for unfettered access to Gaza if the humanitarian situation is to be improved, to allow the economy to get back on its feet, and to give the young people of Gaza the prospect of a better future.

“I call on the government of Israel to open the crossings to help end this humanitarian crisis.”

“But there is a larger issue here. What exactly is the humanitarian crisis that the flotilla was actually addressing? There is none. No one is starving in Gaza. The Gazans have been supplied with food and social services by the U.N. for 60 years in part with American tax money.”
–Charles Krauthammer, Fox News (5/31/10)

“But there is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza at all!”
–Monica Crowley, Fox Business Network (6/2/10)

“But there is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza; if anyone goes without food, shelter or medicine, that is by the choice of the Hamas government, which puts garnering international sympathy above taking care of its citizens.”
–Daniel Gordis, New York Times op-ed (6/3/10)

“I just had an expert on, a congressman, Mike Pence, from Indiana, who is an expert on this issue as well. He said, look it, there is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza. People are eating in Gaza. There is medical aid. You are talking about paper, crayons and olive trees, and placing basically your volunteers in a potential situation where they could be hurt or even killed.”
–CNN’s Drew Griffin, interviewing Free Gaza’s Greta Berlin (6/2/10)

“If you walk down Gaza City’s main thoroughfare–Salah al-Din Street–grocery stores are stocked wall-to-wall with everything from fresh Israeli yogurts and hummus to Cocoa Puffs smuggled in from Egypt. Pharmacies look as well-supplied as a typical Rite Aid in the United States…. Gazans readily admit they are not going hungry.”
–Janine Zacharia, Washington Post news article (6/3/10)

“Even though Israel has managed to stave off a humanitarian crisis by allowing the entry of food, fuel and medical requirements, to the world it was engaging in a policy of collective punishment.”
–Martin Indyk, Time column (6/14/10)

Such assertions echo Israeli talking points–such as Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon’s claim (Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 5/29/10), just before the assault, that the flotilla was “a provocation intended to delegitimize Israel. There is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

“Our problem is not with the Israeli or the Jewish people. Our problem is with the oppressive Israeli administration which commits state terror,” he said.

The new Caliph? Turkish PM Erdogan a hero with Islamists!

“Hamas are resistance fighters who are struggling to defend their land. They have won an election,” Recep Tayyip Erdogan said yesterday in a speech broadcast live on television.

“I have told this to US officials… I do not accept Hamas as a terrorist organisation…”

The United States and the European Union blacklist Hamas as a terrorist group despite its victory in Palestinian elections in 2006.

Mr Erdogan made the remarks in an angry tirade against Israel after Monday’s raid on a flotilla carrying aid to the Gaza Strip, which claimed the lives of nine Turks …

The Wall Street Journal wonders how much the Turkish Government was behind an Islamist plot to make a pariah of Israel:

So the Prime Minister of Turkey calls Israel “a festering boil in the Middle East that spreads hate and enmity,” while his foreign minister compares Monday’s Israeli naval raid on a flotilla of ships headed for the Gaza Strip, in which nine passengers were killed, to the attacks of September 11, 2001…

Yet the more facts that come to light about the flotilla, its passengers and their sponsors, the more it seems clear that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Ergodan’s government, far more so than Israel’s, must be held to account for Monday’s violent episode… The Turkish accounting should begin with a full explanation from the government of its relationship with the IHH, an Istanbul-based Islamic “charity” that purchased three of the six boats used in the flotilla from the city government, sent hundreds of its activists along with it, and reportedly has ties to Turkey’s ruling Islamist AKP Party.

That attitude conforms with the general pattern of Mr. Erdogan’s foreign policy. For all his denunciations of Israel’s alleged brutality in Monday’s raid, he was among the first foreign leaders to congratulate Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for his “victory” in last year’s presidential election.

The IHH—the Turkish acronym for the “Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief”—has widely reported links to Hamas, the terrorist group that runs Gaza and most directly threatens Israel. Moreover, in the 2001 Seattle trial of Ahmed Ressam, the would-be Millennium bomber, French counterterrorism magistrate Jean-Louis Bruguiere testified that the IHH had played an “important role” in Ressam’s plot to bomb LAX airport on New Year’s Day, 2000, and that there was “a rather close relation” between the bomber and the Turkish group…

Yet knowing all this, the Turkish government made no effort to prevent the flotilla from setting sail. The government also seems unembarrassed that the IHH belongs to a Saudi-based umbrella group of Islamic charities known as “The Union of the Good,” which the U.S. Treasury designated a terrorist organization in November 2008. On the contrary, Mr. Erdogan has been outspoken in his calls for the world to recognize Hamas, even as his relations with the more moderate Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas have been notably cool.

A third was lying unconscious; his skull was fractured by a devastating blow with a metal bar…He pushed the wounded soldiers up against the wall of the upper deck and created a perimeter of soldiers around them to begin treating their wounds, he said. He then arranged his men to form a second perimeter, and pulled out his 9 mm. Glock pistol to stave off the charging attackers and to protect his wounded comrades. The attackers had already seized two pistols from the commandos, and fired repeatedly at them. Facing more than a dozen of the mercenaries, and convinced their lives were in danger, he and his colleagues opened fire, he said. S. singlehandedly killed six men. His colleagues killed another three.

Takes one to know one:

Sheikh Ahmed Kubaisi, whose Friday sermons out of Dubai are watched by tens of millions of people, has stated that some of the more recent rulings of other sheikhs show that they have mental disorders.

He specified the Saudi cleric Yousef al-Ahmed, who called for the destruction of the Grand Mosque in Mecca because men and women are together.

He also mentioned Sheikh Mohammed al Areefi who said he would go to Jerusalem to broadcast his show before caving to pressure to cancel his plans.

Interestingly, he also said that the minaret ban in Switzerland was no big deal, as minarets are not obligatory under Islamic law.

In the same interview he also said that the “torment of the grave,” an expression of Islamic hell or purgatory, is not literally taking place in the ground but rather in the afterlife.

Finally, he stated (if I am reading it correctly) that misyar marriages are not only permissible but admirable as they reduce spinsterhood.

Misyar marriages are marriages where the bride voluntarily gives up on some of her marriage rights. While it appears to be permissible under Islamic law, it has been abused in some places as de facto prostitution.
