The Blaze
Palestinian Arab terrorists are intensifying their assault on Israel, this time launching two Qassam rockets from Gaza into the western Negev late Tuesday afternoon. Israel National News reports that one rocket hit a local kindergarten, and while no physical injuries were sustained in the attack, the school was badly damaged. If the school had not already closed for the day, the attack would have resulted in a devastating loss of life.

INN reports that the other rocket detonated in an open area in the western Negev, adding:

The rocket attacks mark a continuation of the airstrikes-for-rocket-attacks paradigm that has defined Israel’s poor security situation in the south for many years.

Earlier on Tuesday, IDF chief of staff Benny Gantz told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Security Committee a resumption of rocket fire from Gaza would necessitate a major operation aimed at changing strategic realities vis-a-vis Hamas and its terror allies in Gaza.

However, Gantz also balked at a prolonged operation, which many analysts say would be required for an operation to have a lasting impact on Gaza’s terror infrastructure.

“We will need to shorten the length of fighting as much as possible,” Gantz said.

The news of a Qassam rocket striking an Israeli school is perhaps not shocking, however, as Palestinian militants have a track-record of launching their assaults at civilian targets, and often from within civilian locations.

La Repubblica has named the driver of the car as Chafik Elketani, a 21-year-old of Moroccan origin. He is reported to have been under the influence of marijuana at the time of the crash. He was also driving without a licence, as he was serving a six-month suspension for dangerous driving.

The trial of Issa Ibrahim Islam, a truck driver who went on a killing rampage on Nakba Day, opened at the Tel Aviv District Court on Thursday.

The Kfar Kassem resident is accused of killing 29 year-old Aviv Morag and injuring 17 others while recklessly driving a truck along Bar-Lev Street in Tel Aviv last May. The driver also ran over several vehicles during the rampage.

A psychiatric evaluation submitted by the prosecution found Islam fit to stand trial, and determined that the defendant was lucid while he committed the act.

During the hearing, eyewitness recounted the horrors of that Sunday morning, as they were commuting to work and school: “He screamed ‘Allahu Akbar’ and then threw the traffic light on my head,” recalled Shani Oz, one of the witnesses.

“The truck collided into my car and the back windshield shattered to pieces,” said Amitai Asif, “People were scared. I had blood all over my face even after being taken into the ambulance,” he noted.

According to the indictment, Islam carried on with his rampage even after colliding into several vehicles. “The defendant did not stop, but rather stepped on the gas and continued his killing spree,” the indictment read.

The trial opened a week after David Morag, the father of the victim killed during the rampage, committed suicide.

“Aviv was his whole world,” said a friend of the family, “The last few months were very difficult for him, and the holidays were even twice as hard.”

Islam’s defense attorney, Yehosua Resnik, rejected the accusations, claiming that “the incident was nothing more than an accident that went wrong.”

Shame on you, Yehosua Resnik.

Fareed Zakaria: But what do you mean by that? Every person in Israel is by definition a Zionist because they believe in a state for the Jewish people.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (through translator): No, no. Zionism is a complicated and terrible party. And to most they have 10,000 members, and 2,000 main members.

Fareed Zakaria: What does it mean to you? So what does Zionism mean? The rest – you say only 10,000 people in Israel are Zionists?

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (through translator): No, I don’t say they are all there. Some of them are in Europe, some of them are in the United States, and it constitutes a racist group and they consider themselves superior to others.

When he said it last week, the implication was that there are 10,000 Zionist Americans. Now we see that the number is a count of Zionists worldwide!

So it isn’t, as I thought, that 0.003% of the US population controls the country. It is that 0.00014% of the world’s population controls the world!

Palestinian TV has reported on comments by a Hamas leader during a sermon in which he said “We Will Sweep the Siblings of Pigs and Apes out of Our Land.” According to a MERI translation ^[1] of a sermon given by Deputy Speaker of the Hamas Parliament Ahmad Bahr:

Following are excerpts from a Friday sermon delivered by Ahmad Bahr, deputy speaker of the Hamas parliament, which aired on Al-Aqsa TV on September 23, 2011:

Ahmad Bahr: Allah said: “Your Lord said that he would send against them, till the Day of Judgment, those who would afflict them with cruel torment. The Lord is quick in retribution, but he is also Most Forgiving and Most Merciful.” Allah Akbar! The commentators said with regard to this blessed verse that Allah would impose the nation of Muhammad upon the Jews until the Day of Judgment, when they would be defeated and Allah would transform them, just as He transformed them [into apes and pigs] when they disobeyed Him. That is why Allah imposed the nation of Muhammad, and the Jihad-waging Palestinian people, upon those siblings of apes and pigs, until we sweep them out of our land and our holy places. “

The Hamas charter ^[2] states that it is ” is one of the wings of the Muslim Brothers in Palestine” and an early media report indicated that shortly after Hamas took over the Gaza strip, Muslim Brotherhood representatives were present to review Hamas military formations. In 2007,  a Hamas journalist acknowledged ^[3] the role that the “international Muslim Brotherhood” has played in providing funds for the purchase of weapons and in 2008, an Israeli TV station reported ^[4] that Muslim Brotherhood “representatives” had traveled to Gaza from Egypt through the open border to meet with Hamas. Hamas is supported financially and politically by the global Muslim Brotherhood and a NEFA Foundation report ^[5] has documented the Hamas fund-raising activities of the Union of Good, a coalition of Islamic charities linked to the Brotherhood that provides financial support to both the Hamas “social” infrastructure, as well as its terrorist activities. Can We Talk Honestly?

A few months back, a group of national religious rebbetzins set off one of those two-day media storms for which Israel is famous when they issued a public call for Jewish girls not to socialize with Arabs. Charges of racism immediately poured down on their head. (The issue has come to the fore once more with allegations that at least one store in a national chain forced Arab workers to sign an agreement not to fraternize with female Jewish employees.)

That earlier storm was not without heavy doses of hypocrisy. Some of the Arab spokesmen who denounced rebbetzins’ letter as proof of the endemic racism of Israeli society would kill their own daughters if they were dating a Jew.

The rebbetzins were not addressing themselves to women working in hi-tech and suggesting that they should refuse to work on projects together with an Arab graduate of the Technion or avoid normal collegial relations with Arab co-workers. They were talking about teenage Jewish girls, often very young teenagers, becoming “involved” with Arab men. How many Jewish Israelis, if they are being honest with themselves, would really feel indifferent to their own daughter’s involvement in such a relationship? If she were 12?

By now, we have all seen enough videos of Jewish women rescued by Yad L’Achim from Arab villages — some even from the Gaza Strip — to know that the story can turn out very badly. Some of us have even visited hostels for the women thus rescued and their children and heard their stories. I spent the afternoon of the 17thof Tammuz watching videos of Jewish girls describing their relationships with Arab men at the offices of the Learn and Live organization, a fitting way to spend the fast.

When they were dating, their Arab boyfriends could not shower them with enough gifts, could not stop telling them how much they loved them. Once married, they find themselves imprisoned, cut off from their families, watched constantly by their husbands and his family members, who threaten them – quite credibly – that they will kill them if they try to escape. Often they are treated as little more than chattel.

They are viewed as slatterns by the women of the village, and their children are never allowed to forget their Jewish origins. Often those children become the most vehement Jew haters, as a means of overcoming the stigma of their origins. When fighting breaks out between Israel and the Palestinians, the women may be beaten by their husbands, even attacked with an axe, as scapegoats for the Jewish people.

WE ARE NOT TALKING about a small phenomenon. The Ministry of Interior estimates that there are between 10,000-20,000 children of Jewish mothers and Arab fathers in Israel. And that number does not include those living in the Gaza Strip or the Palestinian Authority, and may not include those whose mothers converted to Islam when they married. (When the women convert, their chances of keeping their children, even if they manage to escape, are reduced because all divorce proceedings are governed by Islamic law.) A recent Jerusalem Post article on the situation in Jerusalem’s Pisgat Zev neighborhood spoke of sixty Jewish girls who have disappeared into Arab villages over the last ten years, most never to be heard from again.

And the problem is growing. Tzachi Laloosh, who runs the Learn and Live youth centers in Tzefat told me that when he opened the centers four years ago he was working with seven Jewish girls in ongoing relationships with Arabs. Today he is working with 63 such girls, and Learn and Live has 600 such files for all its centers in the North. Two counselors for another chareidi organization that runs a hot line for girls in relationships with Arabs told me a year ago that they receive between 150-250 referrals a month, despite minimal advertising and a focus primarily on the religious community.

The phenomenon of Jewish girls with Arab boys is increasingly visible in every place where Jews and Arabs live in close proximity – Acco, Tzefat, Haifa, Beersheba – and in Jerusalem neighborhoods like Pisgat Zev and Patt. The intersection of Bar Ilan and Shmuel HaNavi, better known for Shabbos confrontations, is a popular meeting place late of Friday nights for Jewish teenagers and Arabs from nearby villages. Sometimes the Arabs pretend to be Jewish – wearing yarmulkes, tzitzit, even reciting blessings before eating – but mostly they do not bother with such initial deceptions.

A LIBERAL, DEMOCRATIC STATE, such as Israel, cannot make distinctions between citizens based on religion or ethnic identity. Thus, the Israeli education system will not be warning students of the potential danger of relationships with Arabs or bringing survivors of such relationships to speak to the girls about their experiences. It is not the fault of young Arab men that there are so many Jewish girls raised in dysfunctional or abusive homes, or who crave male attention as they mature because they do not receive proper reinforcement from their own fathers. Nor are the young Arab men seeking anything different than their Jewish male contemporaries. They just happen, in many cases, to be more successful Lotharios – more patient, freer with gifts and compliments, better able to spot girls who are vulnerable. And the results of the relationship, if it ends in marriage, more incapable of reversal, when things go badly.

But there are two areas where the state has abdicated responsibility. The first is its general reluctance to help Jewish women trapped in Arab villages to leave, even where there is evidence that they are being held against their will. It has fallen almost completely to organizations like Yad L’Achim to mount expensive and dangerous operations to do so. And the second is in reluctance to enforce laws against statutory rape in cases where the Jewish girls are young teenagers. The halachic rule is that the seduction of a minor is considered rape because she cannot give consent, and the same presumption is embodied in the statutory rape statutes.

Long and arduous efforts are required to prevent Jewish girls from being lost for good. A talk with a woman who’s been there and back is no more likely to convince the mini-skirted, 13-year-old, her head turned by a new cellphone or a ride in a fancy car with a powerful boom box, than pictures of the lungs of long-time smokers are to convince teenage smokers to give up the habit. She always knows better that “her Arab” would never treat her like that.

In many cases, a lot of bruises went into creating the chutzpadik young girl standing there today – dropping out of school, an impoverished background and constant feelings of material deprivation, low self-esteem due to strained familial relationships. But with patience, lots of love, and the help she needs to aspire to something more, those bruises can be healed and she can be saved from relationships that too often spell self-destruction.

But he did.

A witness who claims he stopped the driver who hit several cars on Tel Aviv’s Bar Lev Street Sunday in what police called a suspected terror attack said he initially thought the driver had just lost control of his brakes.Arik Levy told Israel Radio that when he went to go help the driver, he saw him continue to hit cars and street lights, and heard him saying “Allahu Akbar” and “death to Jews.”

Levy said he ran up to the driver, the two struggled for a short time, and then police arrived at the scene after 10 minutes.

Another witness who saw the incident told The Jerusalem Post the driver “looked crazy.”

The eye witness, 18-year-old Natalie, said she saw the truck driver driving in zigzags, and “deliberately hitting everything he saw.”

“It was obvious it was deliberate,” she said. “He was looking at the road and then back down at his wheel. He looked crazy.”

Bar Lev street was strewn with wreckage, with several badly-damaged vehicles parked in different areas on the street. Some of the vehicles were lying in the middle of the dividing fence in the opposing traffic lane, street signs were flattened and there was glass on street….

The family of a 23-year-old Kfar Kassem resident, Islam Ibrahim Issa, strongly denies his involvement in a terror attack in Tel Aviv on Sunday. “He was probably tired,” a relative told Ynet.The truck driver who ran over some 15 vehicles and caused the death of one person and injured 17 others, is currently being questioned by police.

During questioning, the Issa [sic] told police his tire had exploded causing him to lose control of the vehicle. Meanwhile all of the eyewitnesses on location are certain it was a terror attack.

“He had murder in his eyes,” claimed the driver of a bus hit by the truck.

“I was driving on the Lod road and saw from a distance a truck running over cars from all directions. I saw the truck approaching me and decided to turn right. I immediately realized it was a terror attack because of Nakba Day.”

Other witnesses said the truck driver got out of the truck and tried to assault a woman with a traffic light that had collapsed. [...]

“My son doesn’t kill Jews,” Issa’s mother insisted. “I can’t wait to talk to him already, hear what happened and how he’s feeling. I’m asking the Israeli government to support him and prove to everyone that our son has nothing to do with the attack, and that it’s just the cause of a regular accident.

“My son is the breadwinner of the family. He built our house, bought a car. He has a lot of ambitions in life. He doesn’t even know how to curse and has always been kind to anyone he met.”

“Everything that’s happened to him is due to his tire exploding. That’s why he lost control of the steering wheel,” she added.[...]

The relative added that the suspect “has no connections to organizations like Hamas or Fatah. He’s not involved in politics at all. This accident has nothing to do with Nakba Day. We believe it happened because he was probably tired or something.”…

Yes, his tire exploded because he was tired, and then he had the energy to run over fifteen vehicles and attack a woman with a fallen traffic light. Islam Issa was “tired” the way Rageit Almurisi was looking for the bathroom.

And the idea that because he had no ties to Hamas or Fatah, he must not be a terrorist, can only be convincing to someone who doesn’t know that it is possible for a Muslim to read the Qur’an and decide that plowing his vehicle into crowds of Infidels is something that would please Allah a great deal.

PA daily demonizes Israel as  ”a country whose aim is destruction and ruin of humanity”

The PA continues to demonize and incite hatred of Israel. An article in the official PA daily described Israel this way:

Israel is a country -

“whose aim is destruction and ruin of humanity”
“which disseminates destruction, ruin and weapons in the world”
“which acts to kill nations, to threaten them and to occupy their land”
“which acts to disseminate the culture of hatred and racism among human beings”

This article appeared in the sports section of the official PA daily in an article about Qatar being chosen as host of World Cup in 2022. Israel was presented as the example of evil in the world in contrast to Qatar’s excellence.

The article also denied the legitimacy of Israel’s existence when it labeled the Israeli Carmel Mountains “the occupied Palestinian Carmel Mountains.”

The following is an excerpt of the article in the sports section of Al-Hayat Al-Jadida following Qatar’s selection to host the 2022 World Cup:
Headline: “Great Qatar and small Israel”

“That night [of the announcement concerning Qatar] we followed the news. Guess who Egyptians are blaming for Murdered Copts?

Tensions have been running high between Egypt’s Muslim majority and minority Christians, who make up about 9 percent of the people. Copts, who are adherents of an Egyptian sect of Christianity, complain of discrimination, including the lack of freedom to build houses of worship. The government denies those accusations.   Al-Azhar asks Coptic Church to denounce U.S. report saying Copts face discrimination: Historically, if dhimmis complained about their treatment, their contract of “protection” was revoked and their lives were forfeit. Even today, that idea remains as a cultural hangover in the Islamic world: non-Muslims who are persecuted know they better keep silent about that persecution, or things will get even worse.

Just when we were beginning to get into the holiday spirit, the United Nations decided that Durban III is coming to town.

Like the Ground Zero mosque architects, the UN has decided to pour salt in the wounds of still grieving Americans. The crowds at Durban I held high their signs reading: “For the liberation of Quds, machine-guns based upon faith and Islam must be used,” and “The martyr’s blood irrigates the tree of revolution in Palestine.” The obvious connection between hate and terror, or incitement to violence and violence itself, is either irrelevant to the UN or part of the plan.   Read more: (Foxnews.com)

The Palestine Times headlines the article “In Jabalia – the Martyrdom of an al-Qassam Mujahid.”

The English Al Qassam website spoke of the fallen fighter in glowing terms:

the mujahed Bilal Maher Zaqout was martyred due to a live bullet fired by mistake while he was cleaning his own gun in Jabalia refugee camp north of the Gaza Strip.

Yes, this Hamas hero shot himself in the chest while cleaning his gun.

Israel: “High percentage” of women murdered by husbands are Muslims, police do little

Can’t blame the police. Why would they want to get themselves into the firing line for Muslim females who are considered domestic animals?
