”The only way to stop the mass immigration to Europe, is to sink the boats with illegal refugees before they land,” said Nick Griffin to the BBC TV program The Record Europe yesterday.

Challenging the European Union

Griffin, who is the upcoming EU-parliamentarian, says the EU should sink these boats.BBCs journalist responded by saying that the European Union do not tend to kill people on the water.

”I do not believe that we should kill them. We can throw out a few lifeboats they can get home with,” said Griffin. He believes this course of action will save lives in the long run.

Will close the borders

”Immigrants are coming on boats that do not withstand the travel across the Atlantic, and many drown en route. If we let them understand that no one under any circumstances will sneak into the EU, they will eventually quit coming, he said, and added: “Sooner or later we must shut the borders of Europe, otherwise we would be flooded by the third world.”

The General Secretary of the Refugee Support, Elisabeth Rasmussen, reacted strongly to the initiative.

”This is totally sick. It is so brutal that one almost cannot take it seriously. Yet we know that this is a trend that is spreading among politicians throughout Europe,” said Rasmussen to Dagbladet.

The fact that Nick Griffin is upcoming EU-parliamentarian, making his initiative completely horrific, she says.

”He does not view immigrants as people.” (Does Elisabeth Rasmussen know that Muslims regard us unbelievers are “the vilest of creatures according to that dirty book, the Koran? Sura (8:55) - Surely the vilest of animals in Allah’s sight are those who disbelieve)

Rasmussen: To me, it seemed like he classifies them as subhuman. I doubt that he would make such statements if it were Britons who sat on the boats,” said Rasmussen. [Of course, it is not the Britons, Dutch, Danes, Swedes, Norwegians, Finns, or Germans that are invading a civilized country and spreading crime and misery and depleting the culture, wealth and social services.]

“Violates international rules”

She adds that this is a violation of the international laws.

”All countries in Europe are bound by the rules in connection with the Refugee Convention. The laws are very clear that people have the right to come to Europe and seek for help. They have no right to stay, but the right to present their application, specifies Rasmussen.

* ”All countries in Europe are bound by the rules…” why only countries in Europe?

These laws have to be changed. Africa is for Africans, China for Chinese, Japan for Japanese. And since no Islamic country respects these treaties (or any treaties with unbelievers) , they are not worth the paper they’re written on. Were will we run to when our countries are ruined by Marxism and the sharia, “Islamic Law?”

The new oldest enemy of the West is ideological Islam. If NATO wants to be a useful instrument in defending the West against this enemy it needs to accept a new member state – Israel – and stop groveling to Turkey.

Last week, Bernard Kouchner, the powerful Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, announced that he is no longer in favor of admitting Turkey to the European Union. Mr. Kouchner changed his mind, he said, at the recent NATO summit in Strasbourg on April 4th. There, Ankara threatened to veto the appointment of Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the Danish Prime Minister, as NATO’s new Secretary-General. The Turks objected to Mr. Rasmussen because in 2005 he defended the freedom of expression of Danish cartoonists who had depicted the Muslim prophet Muhammad.

Danish PM, new NATO chief, is “Islam’s major enemy” — for defending free speech and publication of the Motoons

Turkey is governed by the AKP, a very popular Islamic party in Central and Eastern Anatolia. The AKP’s voters feel more strongly about the Islamic law which prohibits depicting the Muslim prophet than about basic Western values such as freedom of expression. These voters already feel “hurt” by the simple depiction of their prophet, which in Islam is blasphemy. The Turkish threats in Strasbourg jolted Mr. Kouchner into realizing what the future has in store for the European Union if Turkey becomes a member. “I was very shocked by the pressure that was brought on us,” Mr. Kouchner said. “Turkey’s evolution in, let’s say, a more religious direction, towards a less robust secularism, worries me.”

Turkey only dropped its veto against the Danish politician after US President Barack Obama brokered a compromise. Mr. Rasmussen is obliged to have a Turkish deputy and to issue some sort of apology to the Islamic world. Lo and behold, within a week Mr. Rasmussen rushed to Istanbul where he declared: “I would never myself depict any religious figure, including the prophet Muhammad, in a way that could hurt other people’s feelings. […] During my tenure as the secretary general of NATO I will pay close attention to the religious and cultural sensibilities of the different communities that populate our increasingly pluralistic and globalized world.”

Prior to Mr. Rasmussen, President Obama himself had also traveled to Istanbul to declare that “The United States is not at war with Islam” and to express American support for Turkish EU membership. While Mr. Kouchner, a liberal European, was shocked by the behavior of the Turks in Strasbourg, Mr. Obama, a liberal American, clearly was not. He did not find it worrying in the least. “If Turkey can be a member of NATO and send its troops to help protect and support its allies and its young men are put in their way, I don’t see why you should not also be allowed to sell apricots to Europe or have more freedom to travel,” Mr. Obama told his AKP hosts in Istanbul.

Perhaps Mr. Obama does not realize that for ordinary Europeans the European Union is about more than selling apricots and tourism. Ordinary Europeans expect the EU to defend European identity. Unlike Mr. Obama, ordinary Europeans doubt whether Turkey is “bound to Europe” and “shares Europe’s history and culture.” The current wave of distrust of the EU by ordinary Europeans is caused to a large extent by their fear that the EU institutions in Brussels are pushing for Turkish EU membership. This would make Turkey the most populous of all EU member states, with the largest number of seats in the European Parliament, and turn the AKP into the most powerful political party in Europe. What this will lead to suddenly dawned on the secularist Mr. Kouchner in Strasbourg, but it had already been clear to many of his compatriots when they rejected the EU Constitution in a referendum in 2005. Indeed, one of the main reasons why the French rejected the Constitution were their concerns about Turkish accession to the EU.

While perhaps Mr. Obama no longer considers America to be basically a Christian nation, polls in secularist Europe show that most ordinary citizens in Europe seem to consider the EU as basically a “Christian club,” thereby implicitly acknowledging that Europe’s history and culture was shaped by its Judeo-Christian heritage. According to a Eurobarometer survey, taken shortly after the 2005 referendum, opposition against Turkey’s entry to the EU runs as high as 80% in countries such as France and Germany.

While Mr. Obama proclaims in Istanbul that “The United States has been enriched by Muslim Americans,” Europeans, who have seen a massive flow of Muslim immigration to their continent in the past decades, take an entirely different view. The Pew Center’s Global Attitude Polls indicate that citizens in EU countries with high percentages of Muslim immigrants adopt negative attitudes towards Muslims. These Europeans have noticed how their neighborhoods, cities and countries are losing their traditional European identity following the erosion of European values owing to the immigration of large numbers of Muslims with entirely different views of how people should behave and what liberties they should have.

“We are not at war with Islam,” Mr. Obama said in Istanbul. He seems to have forgotten that Europe and America were never at war with the Soviet Union either. Indeed, the purpose of NATO was to ensure peace and stability in Europe by maintaining a level of deterrent which refrained the Soviet Union from attacking NATO or one of its member states. NATO ensured that we were never at war with the Soviets by preparing itself for war against the Soviets. In doing so, NATO successfully preserved the freedoms of the West.

Turkey Out, Israel In

Today, ideological Islam has replaced Marxism as the main threat to the freedoms of the West. If sixty years after its foundation NATO wants to continue serving its purpose it needs to transform itself into an organization which can ensure that we will never be at war with Islam. NATO’s successful past shows that it can only serve this goal by preparing itself for war against Islam.

If NATO wants to continue serving its goal it should stand strong against every attempt at intimidation by ideological Islam. Instead of giving in to AKP threats it should forcefully reject them. If this means that Turkey leaves the organization, so be it. NATO should have shown Turkey the door in Strasbourg instead of giving in to the whims of the AKP.

NATO serves no purpose if it does not include all countries which, because they stand for basic Western values, are threatened by ideological Islam. Israel is in the frontline in this battle. NATO serves no purpose if it does not include Israel. An attack by ideological Islam on Israel should be considered an attack on the entire free world. Perceptive European politicians are aware of this. In a recent interview the Belgian politician Filip Dewinter advocated the accession of Israel to NATO “because NATO defends freedoms and democratic values characteristic of European civilization, and I have always said so and will repeat it again, that Israel is an outpost of the free West in Islam-occupied territory.”

Mr. Obama went to Istanbul to grovel at the feet of the AKP and speak out in favor of Turkey’s EU admission. Since America is not a member of the EU, however, EU affairs are none of Mr. Obama’s business. Ordinary Europeans are justifiably offended by Mr. Obama’s arrogance, which is an indication of the unilateral approach of the Obama White House when dealing with Europe. If Mr. Obama wants to serve the free world he should go to Istanbul to speak out in favor of Israel’s admission to NATO.

Ankara joined NATO in 1951 and shortly after Turkish forces fought valiantly with the allies in Korea. Turks stood tough against the Soviet Union for decades. Following the United States, Turkey has the second-largest number of troops in the alliance.

With the end of the Cold War, NATO’s mission changed and some saw Islamism as the new strategic enemy. Already in 1995, NATO Secretary General Willy Claes compared Islamism to the historic foe: “Fundamentalism is at least as dangerous as communism was.” With the Cold War over, he added, “Islamic militancy has emerged as perhaps the single gravest threat to the NATO alliance and to Western security.”

Indeed, NATO first invoked Article 5 of its charter, calling on “collective self-defense,” to go to war against the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2001, responding to the 9/11 attacks launched from that country.

More recently, former Spanish prime minister José María Aznar argues that “Islamist terrorism is a new shared threat of a global nature that places the very existence of NATO’s members at risk” and advocates that the alliance focus on combating “Islamic jihadism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.” He calls for “placing the war against Islamic jihadism at the center of the Allied strategy.”

Claes and Aznar are right; but their vision is now in jeopardy, for Islamists have penetrated the 28-state alliance, as was dramatically illustrated in recent days.

As the term of Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer concludes in July, a consensus had emerged to make Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, 56, his successor. But Fogh Rasmussen was in office in early 2006, when the Muhammad cartoon crisis erupted and he insisted that as prime minister he had no authority to tell a private newspaper what not to publish. This position won him much criticism from Muslims, including Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep TayyipErdogan, who instructed Fogh Rasmussen at the time that “Freedoms have limits, what is sacred should be respected.”

When Fogh Rasmussen came up for the NATO post, Erdogan continued his grudge, saying that his government looks “negatively” on Fogh Rasmussen’s candidacy because, Erdogan explained, “I asked for a meeting of Islamic leaders in his country to explain what is going on and he refrained from doing that. So how can I expect him to contribute to peace?”

Eventually, Fogh Rasmussen was selected as the consensus candidate, but at a steep price. The Dane won the job only after engaging in intensive negotiations with Turkish president Abdullah Gül hosted by Barack Obama. Fogh Rasmussen promised to appoint at least two Turks and publicly to address Muslim concerns about his response to the cartoons. More broadly, Erdogan announced. Obama “gave us guarantees” concerning Turkish reservations about Fogh Rasmussen.

The hoops that Fogh Rasmussen had to jump through to win Ankara’s support can be inferred from his cringe-inducing, dhimmi-like remarks on winning the appointment: “As secretary general of NATO, I will make a very clear outreach to the Muslim world to ensure cooperation and intensify dialogue with the Muslim world. I consider Turkey a very important ally and strategic partner and I will cooperate with them in our endeavors to ensure the best cooperation with Muslim world.”

We appear to be witnessing the emergence not of a robust NATO following the Claes-Aznar model, one leading the fight against radical Islam, but an institution hobbled from within, incapable of standing up to the main strategic threat for fear of offending a member government.

Nor is Islamism NATO’s only problem with Turkey. In what is emerging as a Middle Eastern cold war, with Tehran leading one faction and Riyadh the other, Ankara has repeatedly sided with the former – hosting Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, advocating for Iran’s nuclear program, developing an Iranian oil field, transferring Iranian arms to Hezbollah, openly supporting Hamas, viciouslycondemning Israel, and turning Turkish public opinion against the United States.

Noting these changes, columnist Caroline Glick urges Washington to “float the notion of removing Turkey from NATO.” The Obama administration is not about to do that; but before Ankara renders NATO toothless, dispassionate observers should carefully think this argument through.

Rasmussen proves to be another career-official who places his career ueber alles in der Welt. Disgusting! Are they ALL prostitutes?

To become NATO secretary general, Anders Fogh Rasmussen will apologize for the Mohammed cartoons.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Denmark’s leader, was one of the few European politicians who refused to give in to pressure from fundamentalists in the Middle East when a Danish newspaper published the now infamous “Mohammed cartoons.” His attitude was welcomed by may Europeans, especially by conservatives. He was quickly promoted to “hero of the freedom of speech,” and became one of the old continent’s most popular politicians.

But then something changed. Rasmussen set his eyes upon NATO. He wanted to become the organization’s next secretary general. An ambitious man, he proved willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish his goals.

One of those ‘things’: apologizing to the “Islamic world” for the cartoons.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip does not like Rasmussen very much (among other reasons because Rasmussen is anti-Turkey). So when the latter appeared to be the man most likely to succeed secretary general Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, the former put up a fight. Turkey would not agree to let Rasmussen accomplish his goal, Erdogan said, unless Turkey got something in return and unless the prime minister would apologize to “the Islamic world.’

Rasmussen reportedly agreed. Dutch magazine Elsevier says he will do so tomorrow, in Istanbul.

If true, it’s a major blow to the freedom of speech the prime minister said he held so dear. Rasmussen should have stuck to his guns and defended Western principles. This is not about whether one agrees with him on every single subject, nor about whether or not one is a fan of his (country’s) policy towards Turkey. It’s about the freedom of newspapers to publish whatever cartoon they want, no matter how controversial they may be in some quarters.

It is not only a sad day for those who love the freedom of speech, but also for Turkish secularists; Erdogan presented himself once again as spokesman for the “Islamic world,” which would have been unthinkable only ten years ago. Lest we forget, Turkey was, for over 80 years, a proud secular country. Erdogan has done everything in his power to end that beautiful streak. The negotiations over NATO’s next secretary general are yet another step in the wrong direction.

Lastly, not all news is bad: a Turk will be appointed vice-secretary general (which is not a problem at all of course) and its generals will enrich NATO’s top command with their knowledge and experience. These are rather obviously good results, both for Turkey and for NATO.

The cartoon-deal, on the other hand, is terrible for all involved.

Read the comments, here. Very worrying!

Changing sides?

Atlas Shrugs:Denmark’s Rasmussen to apologize to ‘Islamic World’

What do you have to do to become the secretary general of NATO these days?

Apologize to the Islamic world for exercising your right to freedom of expression.

What a disgrace.

The “Islamic world” should apologize to the rest of us for the violence and murders that followed the publication of the dreaded cartoons of blasphemy. But we’ve arrived in the brave new world of Hopenchange, in which (relatively) sane people apologize for “provoking” the horrible behavior of others, and grovel before violent thugs and religious extremists.

Among other things, he is accused of having “an irresponsible and unsentimental attitude during the [Muhammad] cartoon crisis.” In other words, he seems to be an advocate of free speech. “Rasmussen disrespectful toward Islam: Turkey’s senior AKP official,” from World Bulletin, March 24:

Suat Kiniklioglu, deputy chairman of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party for foreign relations, said, “it is unacceptable that a person who loutishly disrespect our faith and holy values in the past, will head the Alliance.”
In an interview with the A.A, Kiniklioglu said that election of Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen of Denmark as the new secretary-general of NATO could cause some difficulties for the Alliance because of the Islam[ic] world’s perception of him.”

“The Danish prime minister is a troublesome person for Turkey. There are three reasons of this: First of all, he was captured by cameras as saying after the EU Summit in 2003 that Turkey would never become a full member of the EU; then, he assumed an irresponsible and unsentimental attitude during the cartoon crisis, and lastly, he failed to prevent broadcast of Roj TV from Denmark,” he said.

The cartoon crisis erupted in 2006 after a Danish newspaper cartoon depicted the Prophet Mohammad (PBHU)in a way regarded as a serious disrespect by Muslims.

“The way of the Islam world’s perceiving Rasmussen is of great importance. It is unacceptable for us that a person who loutishly disrespect our faith and holy values in the past, will head the Alliance especially in a period when U.S.President Barack Obama wants to focus his foreign policy on Afghanistan and Pakistan,” he said.

Byt Turkey does not just complain; it offers solutions, such as nominating dhimmis who know how to appease Islam:
Kiniklioglu said, “Defense Minister Peter Mackay of Canada, who is also a candidate, well-understands Turkey’s sensitivities. He could stand up and object to the approval of the Armenian resolution by the Canadian parliament. On the other hand, some circles are trying to create a consensus in favor of Rasmussen by showing Turkey as the only country objecting to his election. In fact, there are other countries which are positive about Mackay’s becoming the next secretary-general of the Alliance. The United States, in the meantime, has not yet made a decision.”…
