Denmark Offers to Shelter Hirsi Ali

hirsiali01-sm.jpg* Congratulations to the Danes, who have embarrassed the Netherlands and risked the rage of the ‘tiny minority of extremists’ worldwide by stepping up and offering to give refuge to Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

* Sheik Yer’mami ran this story here

Brian Mikkelsen, the Danish culture minister, has indicated the government would be willing to allow outspoken Dutch-Somali author Ayaan Hirsi Ali to live in Denmark under its protection from fanatical Muslims seeking to kill her.

Over the weekend Mikkelsen sent out a request to the country’s municipalities to invite the threatened author and filmmaker to live here. The move is supported by a recent parliament proposal to establish several ‘free cities’ for persecuted writers, a programme to be created with the support of the International City of Refuge Network.

‘Ayaan Hirsi Ali will be number one on the list of authors we should invite to Denmark,’ Mikkelsen announced on Sunday. ‘She has fought for the freedom of expression and has personally received threats on her life.’

Support funds opened for Dutch author Hirsi Ali in U.S., Netherlands

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) – A U.S. think-tank said Tuesday funds have been established in the United States and the Netherlands to help pay protection costs for Dutch author Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the target of death threats as a result of her criticism of radical Islam.
Earlier this month, the Dutch government said it would no longer foot an annual bill of roughly ¤2 million (US$3 million) for Hirsi Ali while she lives in the United States…

The Long Night of the Pink Hijaab

The Canadian Islamic Congress is urging Canadian women – both Muslim and non-Muslim – to don a pink hijab on Oct. 26, in support of breast cancer research.

The goal, says vice-president Wahida Valiante is to build bridges and show breast cancer doesn’t discriminate.

“Wearing a hijab doesn’t mean that you are any different from anybody else.”

* Really? But the hijaab turned Yvonne Ridley, a British ‘revert’ , into another race. Somehow. Magically! And there are many more like her…

* And if you criticize her new found religion you are a R A C I S T , even if you are white Anglosaxon and British just like her: You go figure!

* How do you explain that?

  1. Great news about Hirsi Ali. I hope she is safe there although some of the stories out of Denmark suggest otherwise.

And a BIG “thank you” to Atheist!

As for the pink hijabs: Gimme a break! What happened to the little pink ribbon-brooches?

I have always suspected the hijab is one of the frontlines of infiltration and also scare tactics.
It has caused many, many confrontations and “testing of the waters” already.

Read some of the comments, and weep.

  2. I am glad Hirsi Ali has found some safety. I am just a bit concerned that Denmark is also rather islamified.

Thanks for that, Atheist.I thought you had vanished???

re the pink hijabs: What happened to those little pink ribbon brooches?

I feel islamic headgear is part of the front line of “creeping sharia” and it also serves to frighten a lot of people.

  3. Thanks atheist,

Are you sure you might not be just a little bit agnostic? There is hope for you yet, rememeber C.S. Lewis….

  4. I also made the point to the Sheik that some of his favourite people who speak out against Islam are all atheists.
Aayan Hirsi Ali, Christopher Hitchens, Pat Condell, Wafa Sultan….. ALL ATHEISTS ….
Atheism is the only way to combat the disease of Islam. Blind hatred and name calling will achieve nothing. This is the stance I have taken all along. It’s one thing to criticise Islam but how about offering a solution. There are many in the West who would like to see muslims convert to Chritsianity but THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Atheism is the only viable alternative. Oh and John, definitely not agnostic. You’re a believer or you’re not. No in-between as far as I’m concerned. People who visit this blog should check atheist websites to see the work some atheists bloggers do to expose the dangers of Islam. is a good one . It is left leaning but it is where I got the youtube videos about Ayaan Hirsi Ali…. there’s some great stuff on this site…

  5. Good for the Danes! they still have some Viking fight left in them.

My mother died of breast cancer at age 39. But I will NEVER wear a hijab, pink or otherwise! Breast cancer does not discriminate, muslims do.

  6. Atheist.
I don’t want a long pro-atheism tirade from you: been there: done that, I know where you stand etc etc.

I have often thought IF there was universal atheism it would possibly get rid of islam also, but…..

    then again I wonder:

    1. since islam has such strong political and lifestyle components I am not sure that would do it.

Communist countries who declared themselves to be atheist did not wipe out evil whatsoever. In fact some are worse than before and some have again gone back to religion.

So how can one be sure it would work for islam? One can’t.

    2. wouldn’t you perhaps be throwing the baby out with the bath water by getting rid of other religions which are, in effect, a moral compass for many?

Some people have a need to believe in something. Some of these people do good things. Not everything done for religion/by religion/in the name of religion is bad – there are some good things as we once discussed before.

I also think if you did away with religion it would leave an incredible vacuum. Then what? I guess a cult leader would emerge. It’s inevitable. Maybe an entertainer, maybe a politician or even a sports star as we are so bombarded by the cult of celebrity these days.

    Think about it.

I have read many atheist sites and commonly come across the same concept:
If there were no god, man would have invented him,,,or words to that effect.

(I am sure you think man did just that. Ancient long-forgotten gods prove this concept occurred. Believers now think they have the found the One.)

I suggest we would just go around in circles. Maybe there is something in the human condition that makes us NEED someone/something to worship.

No doubt you have also read the line: the worst part in the life of an atheist is when he feels thankful and there is no one to thank!

In any case, you would never get 1.2 billion muslims to give up their cult: not now: not ever.

Many seem to cling to it more than any believer of any other religion,IMHO. Why do I say that – because they are willing to kill and die for their cult.

Old Mo was a smart bastard! Disempower 50% of your community. Five reminders a day! Total mind control! 1984.Orwell.

  7. “Some people have a need to believe in something”. How about believing in yourself and humanity . When I feel thankful I thank myself because good things in life generally come from hard work and doing the right thing. Or I thank my parents for instilling good values from my childhood. Simple really.
GF also says: “I also think if you did away with religion it would leave an incredible vacuum. Then what? I guess a cult leader would emerge.” As long as the cult leader doesn’t spew bullshit and hatred like all the major relgions do then I’m all for this. This new cult leader you talk about could be a Ayaan Hirsi Ali or a Wafa Sultan or a Bill Gates or whoever – as long as the new cult is not based on ancient superstitions that promise to answer all the mysteries of the universive such as what happens to us when we die.
To me Aayan Hirsi Ali already has a cult like status among free thinking people. I for one worship the ground she walks on.

  8. “This new cult leader you talk about could be a Ayaan Hirsi Ali or a Wafa Sultan or a Bill Gates or whoever .”

Yes it would be great. But it will never happen on this planet!

You are too idealistic, bordering on the naive. Believing in humanity is a big ask.

Atheism doesn’t always translate into goodness: that’s my main point. Neither does religion.

It all may work for you, but there are too many idiots on this planet.

Haven’t you noticed some of the world’s powerful people are/were often evil? Like Hitler, Stalin etc.

And when some good ones emerge they get assassinated like John Lennon, for example?

When was the last time the world had a great and good leader?

Many people do believe in themselves, and thank their parents. Some just need more than that.

  9. Gramfan,

some interesting points you raise. Thanks.

Hope you don’t mind a Christian’s perspective on this. We worship God who made himself known throught the historical figure of Jesus. People like atheist would explain it away as saying He didn’t exist (when clearly He did) but I believe that Jesus is a perfect moral compass, completely the opposite of ‘old Mo’ as you call him.

The Judeo -Christian scriptures (the Bible) prophesied over two thousand years ago that troubles as we see today would occur. We are under attack both spiritually and physically by secular humanism (atheist’s ‘religion’), evolutionary based science that denies an Intelligent Creator, and islam. It would no doubt be easy to just give in, but how could I deny God who saved my life physically and spiritually?

And as I stated to atheist in an earlier post, hating islam doesn’t mean we hate moslems, and many of them are converting to Christianity, often as a result of them researching the Jesus mentioned in their koran’s. Surely even atheist would admit that this can’t be a bad thing?

  10. Thanks, John.

I don’t have any problems with any religions: just the one that states all non-believers should be killed.
I’m a bit of a “live and let live” person: islam doesn’t cater for this philosophy.

  11. GF

Christianity clearly states that non-believers must be killed. Are we on the same planet ?

And John, a little prayer you might find useful.

“Lord, please protect me from your followers”.

I suppose you are going to tell me next that the world is only 4000 years old. And let me guess, you oppose stem cell research, you support the death penalty, you support the war in Iraq blah blah blah…. you are indeed a perfect Xtian …

  12. hello atheist,

    1. Luke 6:35 “But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.” ‘Christianity’ does not say to kill non-believers. You are clearly mistaken.

I am a YEC. I think that adult stem cell research is a good thing, but not embrionic stem cell research. Forgiveness and mercy are better than death sentences, but criminals do need to pay their debt to society. War in Iraq?? undecided on that one. Anyone could say with 20-20 hindsight that it is probably a bad thing that George Bush Senior didn’t complete the job back then.

By the way, how old is the world, exactly????

You are falling into the trap of ad hominem attacks, rather than debating the subject matter. Don’t you think that muslims converting to Christianity is a good thing?

  13. John – I just love bible quotes……. here’s the one about killing the unbelievers …. go on … tell me its taken out of context .. go on … tell me it’s in the old testament so it doesn’t count … It SAYS WHAT IT SAYS ….. KILL the unbelivers ….. How else can you explain the pogroms and the Spanish inquisition, crusades, etc etc . Tell me John, YES or NO, do you really believe the earth is 4000 years old ? If you answer YES then you are a good Xtian. If you answer NO then you have no faith and are a pseudo Xtian. What is it John ? YES or NO ?

“And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God…” (Deuteronomy 13: 5)
“If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;” (Deuteronomy 13: 6)
“Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.”
“Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.” (Deuteronomy 13:15)

  14. PS
I think Muslims converting to Christianity is very said indeed. I think it is very sad that people need religion in their life. More to the point though, tell me your opinion of Christians converting to Islam. Be honest now ….

Christianity clearly states that non-believers must be killed. Are we on the same planet ?”

Funny. I have never heard this from anyone lately. You are no doubt quoting some obscure verse(?) No one does this anymore! The world has moved on.

Get over it. Your rude and disrespectful attitude to other poster is quite pathetic.

You are acting like an immature, obsessed juvenile.

You want some kind of validation, do you? Your attitude is getting you nowhere. You are no asset to the cause of atheism, or any other -ism.

If you want respect, then show it. No one needs you to agree with them.

I think you mention religion more than any other poster. For an atheist, I find that rather weird. I can’t for the life of me understand why you bother to post here. Why don’t you go to an atheist ‘blog? No one will miss you.

  16. GF.. the venom… ouch … truth hurts does it ? What I quoted is in the bible. The same bible that is in every church on earth. You call what I quoted an obscure verse . At least you didn’t say I quoted out of context which is what most theist apologists would have said. Well try this for size , another “obscure” verse from the book that westerners get their values from:
“And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.” (Leviticus 21:9)
    or this
” Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.” (I Samuel 15:2-3)
there are hundreds of such quotes in the bible which should disgust anyone with decent values.

  17. Your version of the truth is laughable: how can it possibly hurt? Venom? Wow! I didn’t notice.

If you can’t see that what you are quoting is no longer applicable in modern times then you really do have a problem, and it is worse than I first thought.

I see someone with a huge chip on their shoulder, and intolerant little bigot who is really trying to get noticed.
Okay,,you have had your few minutes of fame. Happy now?

  18. exactly my point. Relgion is no longer applicable in modern times. GF – your posts are becoming incoherent and are more like the rant of some madman. It’s really not good for your health. Best have a cup of tea and lie down before you burst a blood vessel.

  19. Now you really are desperate, aren’t you?

You are one screwed-up individual. Didn’t your parents love you as a child? Did you have a bad experience at school? No girlfriend?

If you think I am incoherent why bother to reply? How can you formulate an answer when you don’t know what I have said?

  20. Gramfan and atheist,
This is probably not the forum for a debate on scripture, however as islam constantly uses the koran to support terror activities, there comes a time when the moral equivalence that atheist espouses should be confronted. The quotes from the Old Testament that atheist refers to are specific to the Israelites at that time and place, to keep their society pure compared to the Phillistines, (and others). Sin required punishment. The behaviour that required punishment could (and eventually did) cause Israel to stray.
Christians view scripture in context between the Old and New Testaments, where Jesus fulfilled scripture and all the messianic prophecies. Atheist, you really should read more, rather than pluck out a verse to reinforce your view.

As for Christains who convert to islam? I would suggest that they were probably Christains in mind only, and not in heart. This is just conjecture, and I wonder how many are converted ‘at the point of a sword’.

  21. John
Sin stills required punishment . That’s why you support the death penalty. You get it from your Christianity. That’s why you supported the war in Iraq. Wouldn’t you just love to see Iran get nuked John ? I’ve never known a real Christian who didn’t want this . There are 50 million fundamentalists in the US who pray for this on a daily basis.

  22. Atheist,

If someone sins against me, I forgive them. If someone ‘sins’ against society, society deals with them. If someone sins against God, He forgives them if they accept His way of forgiveness. Someone always has to pay, and Christianity is the only religion where God has paid. In every other religion, hard work, or reading texts, or travelling to Mecca, or killing people etc etc are ways to ‘salvation’. Big difference.

Did I support the Iraq war? Not directly. Do I want people killed? Absolutely not. Real Christians want real peace, so I don’t know which ‘Christians’ you hang around with.

  23. Atheist.
you can’t even think of an answer. And FYI, I have had a hearty laugh as a result of your total intolerance. You are more inclined towards islam than you think. It is also intolerant, just like you are, and allied to the left.

I know quite a lot of right-wing atheists. Your theory is shot to pieces.

  24. be honest John. Real Christians want the whole world to “know” Jesus so that they will be saved. What a warped sick mind you have to think people are going to hell just for not knowing Jesus. Scary !!!
Oh and GF …. self proclaimed agnositc !! hah ! what a joke !! are you agnostic about tooth fairies too ? You ARE AN ATHEIST !! BE PROUD OF IT !! You’re only concerned that if you admit to being an atheist it might make you sound like a left wing loony . Remember Einstein was an atheist. Did I ever send that link to you about Einstein’s open letter to the US governmnet published in the New York Times about the Isareali’s unfair treatment of the Palestinian Arabs ? Let me know if you’d like to have a look at it …

  25. I’ve said it before: your assumptions and generalizations are amazing (and incorrect) . Don’t bother sending the link. Not interested.I believe your Einstein theory was refuted a long time ago by Christian West.

Do you only value the opinions of atheists? Do you believe no one else can think? How boring life must be for you.

You want us all to be atheists like you? No way. You would put anyone off anything,,even if you believed in pink elephants. I would hate to have your tragic and closed mindset.

I am getting the impression that you are in somewhat of a rage because you can’t convert us to your cause. This is largely due to your attitude more than anything else.

No one here has tried to convert you: they are simply stating their beliefs. As I said, you are intolerant. I loathe intolerance. It’s primitive.

    Go have a valium.

  26. So that’s what you are then? What a gem:))

“….. being an atheist it might make you sound like a left wing loony “.

  27. Yes – I only value opinions of atheists as they are true free thinkers and their beliefs and opinions are not jaded by religious indoctrination. The great thinkers of our modern era are all atheists. This cannot be denied. Also, I don’t need to convert you because I know you are person of no faith. You said this in previous posts. Or have you recently converted ?
One thing you fail to realise is that I detest Islam more than anyone I know. I hate it with a passsion. What sickens me is people like you who spew hatred at Muslims without recognising that they are merely victims of their birth like all religious people are. You know this GF. Why argue the point ?

  28. “merely victims of their birth like all religious people are.” Nonsense. Why the double standard? Why not excuse others then?

Muslims could change if they so chose. Some have.
You are excusing them as being victims who have no choice. No choice as to what they believe and no choice as to what they do?

I detest islam also, no hatred of muslims. I think all posters here feel the same.

Basically you hate people for having a religious belief system, but you don’t hate muslims for this because they have no choice. Correct?

Again, you miscategorize me. But have your fun.

  29. I think you’ve proven many times that you hate muslims Gramfan ….
I won’t bother digging up all your old posts…. You know what you’ve written ….

  30. Atheist, am I a ‘victim of my birth’? You seem to have become very upset at what was an attempt at light humour by suggesting you were agnostic, and yet you seeth….

  31. yes your are victim of your birth John. I don’t know you but I can tell you are a middle class white male born in North America, Western Europe , Australia or NZ ….. It’s just sooooo obvious. As far as being called agnostic, it’s just that I preferred to be called atheist. Bit like calling you a Catholic rather than a fundamentalist. Can’t get these things mixed up you know …
