Moe’s Jihad News
At a major conference on terrorism in Brussels this week the perps still haven’t figured out what jihad means. Read it and weep:
Sheikh Mohammed Mohammed Ali, an Iraqi scholar, told delegates at the annual conference of the EastWest Institute think-tank: “Jihad is the struggle against all evil things in your soul…There is no jihadi terrorism in Islam.”
* We may as well change that header to ‘stupidity is the basic building block of the universe’
* Sheik Mohammed Ali, the Iraqi ‘scholar’,- should have been told to shove his taqiyya where the sun don’t shine. Here are the 164 jihad verses from the Koran, and there’s nothing about ‘struggle against evil things in your soul…’
The Call of the Muezzin in Berne, Switzerland
Muhammadan War-Cry or Call to Prayers?
“Freedom of speech should never be used as an excuse to insult a personality that is revered by 1.4 billion people in the world,” said Ismail Yusanto, spokesman of radical international Muslim group Hizbut Tahrir, which organised the rally.
Yusanto said the group wanted the Danish government to stop the insult and punish the perpetrators.
“If nothing is done by Western governments, expect to see our Muslim brothers taking matters into their own hand.”
He didn’t explain how exactly Israel was oppressing Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, etc.
The Beauty & the Beast
In yet another verbal attack against Israel, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called the Jewish state a “filthy bacteria” whose sole purpose was to oppress the other nations of the region.
* Just in from WoJ reader Gramfan:
A technique that I often use is called “reductum ad absurdum” …it means showing that an idea is flawed by carrying it to its logical (and absurd) conclusion.
Today’s cartoon is, however, something entirely different. Amazingly, the first three panels of the comic strip are a direct quote from a real question and answer session with the spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the UN.
Question: You read a statement about the situation in Gaza before and I know it’s difficult to change terminology, but we have a new Secretary-General now, so let me try it again. A year and half after the last Israeli withdrew from Gaza, the UN system still refers to Gaza as an Occupied Palestinian Territory. The only people who are not Palestinian in Gaza currently are UN people. Do you mean that Gaza is occupied by the UN?
Question: So who is it occupied by?
Correspondent: I think there are some Israeli soldiers on the border
Question: Not borders, who is Gaza occupied by?
Spokesperson: Traditionally, this is the terminology we have used. Yes?
Question: But the situation on the ground changed since Israel withdrew from Gaza
Spokesperson: I will look into this.
Correspondent: Thank you.
AFP: JAKARTA — A body exhumed by the military in the Philippines this week was unlikely to be that of an Islamic militant wanted for the 2002 Bali bombings, a regional terror expert said in Indonesia Wednesday.

* A hijabbed American female is the US amassador to the Philipines?
US ambassador Kristie Kenney (L) meets with Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) chairman Muhammad Murad (R) in the separatist group’s Camp Darapanan near the southern Philippine town of Sultan Kudarat.
US ambassador Kristie Kenney on Tuesday met with the head of the Philippines’ main Muslim rebel group in an attempt to re-start stalled peace talks, the two sides said.
Accompanied by US security personnel and aid officials, the envoy visited the main rebel base of Camp Darapanan and met with Muhammad Murad, chief of the separatist Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
She said it was a “private visit” and would not comment further.

Murad told AFP in an exclusive interview after the meeting that Kenney had questioned him about the status of the peace talks, which he said would resume next month.
Washington has pledged tens of millions of dollars in aid to the troubled Mindanao region of the southern Philippines once Manila strikes a peace treaty with the 12,000-member MILF.

The U.S. ambassador to the Philippines met the leader of the country’s largest Muslim rebel group on Tuesday in an effort to defuse tensions over U.S. soldiers entering Muslim areas in the south.
Earlier this week, thousands of people protested against the U.S. military’s plans to hold humanitarian missions in areas controlled by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) as part of annual training exercises with Philippine troops.
“The U.S. ambassador assured us the U.S. soldiers would not be involved in any combat activities,” Mohaqher Iqbal, head of the MILF peace panel with the government, told Reuters.
* The US ambassador makes ‘private visits’ to terrorist organizations and makes apologies for US troops involved in humanitarian missions?
* Yep. That’s what Sarko called them: ‘Racaille’ – S C U M – that’s what they are. Not ‘youths, teenagers, immigrants or students’- they are not.
* Muhammedan thugs & terrorists, that’s what they are.
Police said they had detained 33 of the 38 people on their target list during one of the biggest operations of its kind ever staged in France.
VILLIERS-LE-BEL, France, February 18, 2008 – Hundreds of French police,
including special forces, raided a troubled Paris suburb at dawn Monday to
round up suspected ringleaders of riots last year.
Police said they had detained 33 of the 38 people on their target list
during one of the biggest operations of its kind ever staged in France.
Members of the RAID special police force, led the operation on about 10
apartment blocks in Villiers-le-Bel and surrounding districts, north of the
capital, which was the focus of three nights of serious riots from November 25.
A column of armoured vehicles brought the police into the town under cover
While some guarded the building entrances, groups of 30 police then raided
each apartment, according to an AFP correspondent at the scene.
A special “anti-gang” armoured car, bullet- and firebomb-proof, was used as
the command centre as police headed for different apartments searching for
suspects and evidence.
“I have never seen a police operation of this scope,” prosecutor
Marie-Therese de Givry told a press conference staged at the town’s McDonald’s
“I hope that the inhabitants will understand that we are there to
re-establish order and peace,” she added.
3 charged in France over shooting, violence at mosque
MONTPELLIER, France (AP) – French authorities filed preliminary charges Tuesday against three men in connection with a weekend shooting and other violence in a mosque in southeast France, a prosecutor said.
The Al-Rahma mosque in the town of Nimes was shuttered indefinitely after the scuffle Sunday, in which a worshipper was hospitalized with gunshot wounds to the legs, assistant prosecutor Gildas Pavy said by phone.
The disturbance apparently stemmed from a swelling and increasingly violent disagreement over the last several weeks between «rival groups» over the way the mosque has been run by imam Driss Saoudi, the prosecutor said.
