Equality watchdog checks BBC shows
Primetime BBC shows such as EastEnders and the 10 O’Clock News may be ordered by the equality watchdog to introduce more black and Asian faces. Editorial content has traditionally been exempt from rules on race, gender and disability, but the Equality and Human Rights Commission is to invoke new powers and begin a formal assessment within days to decide which BBC activities should fall under its remit. A Muslim asylum seeker lost out on an award for volunteer work after indicating that he would not shake hands with the woman who was to present him with the prize.
Abu Qatada is to receive almost £8,000 a year in benefits because he has a bad back.Â
The fanatical cleric, said to be Osama Bin Laden’s ambassador in Europe, will get £150 a week of taxpayer’s cash after being released from jail last week.Â

He was granted the incapacity benefit because his condition makes him unfit to work – even though a curfew allows him out of his home for only two hours a day, meaning it would be almost impossible for him to get a job.Â
Qatada left Long Lartin prison in Worcestershire after the Appeal Court blocked his deportation to Jordan.Â
He is now living in an £800,000 four-bedroom Edwardian semi in a tree-lined street in West London.Â
His incapacity allowance will pushÂ
the family’s total annual handouts to more than £50,000.Â
His wife has been claiming £45,000 a year in child benefit, income support, housing benefit and council tax credit for the past four years.Â
Steve Pound, Labour MP for Ealing North, which borders Qatada’s West London home, said: ‘This is adding insult to injury. He abuses us and bleeds us dry at the same time.Â
‘The sooner he gets back to Jordan the better. I for one would put him in the boot of my car and drive him there myself.’Â
Taxpayers are also footing an estimated £500,000 a year bill to provide round-the-clock surveillance on Qatada, who has been described by a judges as a ‘truly dangerous individual’.Â
He arrived in Britain 14 years ago on a forged passport and was granted asylum the following year.
He was convicted in his absence in Jordan of involvement with terror attacks in 1998, and of plotting to plant bombs during the Millennium-celebrations. Last week a judge freed the cleric on bail after ruling he would face an unfair trial if deported to Jordan.Â
But the Special Immigration Appeals Commission imposed un-precedented conditions on his release, including a 22-hour curfew and wearing an electronic tag.Â
  * Nearly a third of those claiming ‘sicknote’ benefits – some 800,000 people – have been doing so for more than a decade, figures revealed.Â
In total 2.64million Britons live on incapacity benefit or related handouts.Â
Details of how hundreds of thousands appear to have backed away from returning to work throws light on the way incapacity benefit has replaced unemployment benefit as the real measure of worklessness.Â
Those who say they are unemployed and claim the Jobseekers’ Allowance get less money than those on sickness benefits – and come under pressure to find work.Â
The cost of incapacity benefit to the taxpayer is now calculated to run at £16billion a year.
The figure includes the cost of housing benefit and council tax benefit that can be claimed by anyone receiving the incapacity payments.Â
Checks on the handout to be introduced this autumn will only affect new claimants.Â

Fitzgerald: Work back from the results
Citizens of the Western world should work back from the results. When the British government decides that it cannot deport Abu Qatada, who has been identified as a leader of Al Qaeda in Britain, because he might be ill-treated in Jordan, and when that government further decides that it cannot put him in prison, but can only confine him to electronic-bracelet life in a $1.6 million dollar home on a leafy street in a well-off neighborhood, with his wife and five little Abu Qatadas (who will grow up, speak English perfectly, know the lay of the land and the ways of the locals, and each become far more of a threat to Infidel laws and rights and customs and freedoms than their clumsy thick-accented father ever could have been), all paid for by the British taxpayer, then it is the law, or those in charge of administering the law, or both, that need to be changed.
And that outrage is hardly singular. It is the same in Canada, or in particular Canadian provinces. There is a human type, a mental type, who participates in and enthusiastically endorses inquisitorial efforts of the kind that has lately been pursued against Mark Steyn and Maclean’s magazine. A person of this type does not see what a farce, what an invitation to a beheading, this kind of thing is. Furthermore, we have every right to suspect that these are the kind of people who would be the first to support Muslim demands, at the U.N. and elsewhere, for a ban on “Islamophobia.” Such a ban means, of course, a ban on intelligent analysis and discussion of the texts, tenets, attitudes, of Islam, and of the source, goals, and means of Jihad that is today being pursued worldwide by Muslims. For the worldwide Jihad is merely the sum of all the local Jihads against non-Muslims who are already living in a state of permanent imperilment in the Muslim-ruled lands, and against non-Muslim states that dare to continue to exist, such as Israel. Israel has in Muslim eyes no conceivable right to exist.
Jihad is also being pursued in states whose citizens, as is becoming more common even in Western Europe and North America, do not always yield, but are starting to resist the demands that are being made by the Muslims who have so foolishly and negligently been allowed to come in, and settle deep within what Muslims themselves are taught to regard as enemy lines, the lines of Dar al-Harb. These demands continue to be pressed. There are demands for changes in schools: a special room for prayers, a special table in the cafeteria, special versions of textbooks designed to meet Muslim ideas of how Islam is to be presented, in a direct attempt to dictate how history, and the truth, are presented in order to “improve” the image of Islam. There are demands for changes in workplaces: again, those prayer-rooms, or that special dispensation for the five daily prayers, and other accommodations that clearly interfere with work, such as checkout clerks refusing to handle pork products, or ever to sully themselves by any even accidental physical contact with Infidels — say, in handing back change. And you, reader can fill out the page here with your own examples.
Those who participated in, and eagerly supported, the comedy of would-be terrors, that is the bureaucratic state attempting to terrorize the sensible Steyn, Levant and others, are the ones who should now — oh, they should not be brought up for investigation and the show-trial that they favor, but they should have their powers limited. They themselves should be made mock of, in every possible forum, in the Canadian equivalent of Saturday Night Live and other shows, with all kinds of mock trials put on — the kind in which 9.5 and 9.29 and 9.111 and other parts of the Qur’an are read out, or in which the cwaziest Hadith are read out, and then mock charges are brought, until it is revealed that what was read was not a cruel parody of Islam, but nothing but Islam itself. That’s the way to teach Infidel publics about what is in the Qur’an, Hadith, Sira — and the more they know, the more they find out about Islam, but not from the espositos and the rest of the Saudi-funded army, or such camp-followers as Karen Armstrong, the better.

The more I read of the UK the more I think that the cukoo clock was really invented there.
Are we in the USA following the footsteps from the UK?
It is sickening with what these people get away with.We have to stay so politecal correct. It looks more like the West is commiting suicide.
Wake up people, how much more are we going to take?
Put them on a plane and send them where ever they came from.
Most people would gladly donate money for the expense of sending them back.
Too bad, if they are wanted, from where ever they came from.
Send a strong message, to other like him, this is what is going to happen to you. A one way ticket for you and your family. Regardles of the circumstance.
Have you ever heard a pig squeal? that is what this guy will do if justice was meted out. Squeal like a pig. Kick his sorry behind out and serve him up to those countries that would put him in jail. As for his back – he can serve time in bed. Geez, no wonder they don’t eat pig – they don’t like the thought of eating one of their own! I look at him and see a pig that was reincarnated into… him.
And why isn’t his wife working??!! What is her problem?
