CAIR’s banquet, website, donations: all illegal!

“They are not allowed to be operating, according to the law.” But go and enforce it!

“Lawsuit’s claim: CAIR no longer even exists,” from WND

The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations, a pro-Muslim lobby named as an unindicted co-conspirator in one of the largest terror-funding cases ever brought by the U.S. government, continues to operate even though it no longer exists as a corporate entity, according to a lawyer suing the organization. LOS ANGELES, Dec 03, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ — The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today called on American Muslims and other people of conscience to thank the Fox television network and the creator of “The Simpsons” for a recent episode that used comedy to challenge Islamophobia.
Warning: graphic pic’s ahead!
Islamophobia? Can’t see any here…
*
The episode, which aired Sunday evening and is titled “Mypods and Boomsticks,” highlights anti-Muslim sentiment by featuring a young Muslim character named Bashir and his family who face prejudice after moving to Springfield. In the program, Homer Simpson wrongly suspects that Bashir’s family is involved in a terror plot. Bart Simpson befriends Bashir and defends him from bullies.

CAIR’s Greater Los Angeles Area office (CAIR-LA) sent a letter today to the show’s creator Matt Groening thanking him for challenging anti-Muslim prejudice.
*
The letter said Sunday’s episode “brought to light how Americans can work toward mutual respect and inclusion by getting to know their neighbors.” It went on to state: “The episode also builds on the values that have made America the great nation it is – a nation in which citizenship is about finding common ground and building a better society. American Muslims have been doing just that by making daily contributions to our society that often go unrecognized.”
“Because of its acceptance in popular culture, comedy is often one of the best vehicles for challenging stereotypes and intolerance,” said CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad. “Fox and Matt Groening are to be congratulated for tackling the disturbing phenomenon of Islamophobia.”

Gee, I’m so glad you agree, Nihad!

Homer Simpson scheduled to “offend” Islam

Moh! — I mean, Doh!

Actually, for all the “controversy” this forthcoming episode is supposed to stir, the only thing creator Matt Groening is poking fun at is “islamophobia” — or, “stereotyping.” Homer, the boob, accuses next-door Muslims of terrorism, only to be proven wrong. “Controversial” is reserved for when someone actually portrays Muslims as terrorists — not as victims of “stereotyping.” As one spokesman was quick to reassure, “At the end of the show, all the issues are resolved and Homer realises the error of his ways.”

“Simpsons Creator Defends Muslim Plot,” from IMDB, January 10:

The Simpsons creator Matt Groening has defended a controversial storyline in the comedy cartoon which sees Homer Simpson accuse his Muslim neighbours of terrorism.

In a forthcoming episode of the long-running show, dad Homer Simpson convinces friends that a Middle Eastern family are plotting to blow up a shopping mall but is proved wrong when it turns out the family’s father, Amid, works in demolition.

When the Simpson family have their Muslim neighbours over for dinner, Homer shows his ignorance of the Muslim faith calling Allah “Oliver” and holy book The Koran “The Corona”.

A spokesperson for Britain’s The Islamic Cultural Centre + The London Central Mosque has commented on the episode, telling U.K. newspaper the Daily Star, “I hope Muslims take no notice of the show.”

But Groening has come out in defence of the plot, saying, “Cartoons deal in stereotypes. We try to be sensitive.”

It is not the first time the show has been mired in controversy, with Simpsons bosses recently being criticised for a storyline which implied America’s Republican party was involved in a vote-rigging scandal at the 2008 presidential election.

  1. I watched the episode and it was the usual deflections. Completely ignore all the Islamic terrorism in the world, ignore any signs a Muslim might be Jihadists, any suspicions are pure paranoia, and presents the ideal that ALL Muslims are peace loving, misunderstood lovable people. Zero condemnation of Muslim violence.

Good Lord, Christianity is many times more “peaceful” in any statistic, no matter the circumstance than Islam…and I don’t trust anyone who claims to be a Christian in the same context this Simpsons episode presents in the case of Muslims.

What a piece of propaganda trash.

  2. a nation in which citizenship is about finding common ground and building a better society. American Muslims have been doing just that by making daily contributions to our society that often go unrecognized.” <–love this. Let me see if I can find a Muslim food bank or places where they nurture the sick. What bullshit.

  3. Americans can work toward mutual respect and inclusion by getting to know their neighbors.”

GET TO KNOW OUR MUSLIM NEIGHBORS? SOME OF US HAVE AND THAT IS PRECISELY WHY WE ARE ALARMED!

  4. true, you will not see muslim food banks etc we genrallay concentrate on looking after our own first before other people. we are big on missionary work same as christians but sme again we concentrate on our own first….

when has a muslim ever distrurbed your dinner to tell you about our all mighty creator
