Politically Correct Reporting: Dereliction of Duty

Fort Hood jihadist’s coworkers saw warning signs, but said nothing for fear of seeming bigoted

Details here.

So this is what it has come to — this is the fruit of the long-term efforts by groups such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations and others, to stigmatize and demonize everyone who speaks honestly about the threat of jihad and Islamic supremacism. People are afraid to speak up about what they see, when they know it is wrong.

And all it cost this week was 13 dead and 38 wounded.

Jihad at Fort Hood

Modern Army Seeks Medieval Muslims

Paul L. Williams, Ph.D.

Major Malik Nadal Hasan, who opened fire on American troops at Fort Hood, was an Army psychiatrist who decried the U.S. invasion of Muslim lands, condemned the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and voiced his support of the global jihad.

But he was never taken to task for his views by his commanding officers and never reprimanded for his anti-American tirades.

Hasan was a devout Muslim who was born in Virginia to Palestinian parents who immigrated from Jordan.

He despised Christians and Jews and the principles of American democracy.

Why was a radical jihadist serving in the U.S. Army?

Why was he granted rank and privilege until he drew his weapons and proceeded to mow down 43 soldiers, killing 12 and wounding 31, on a“secure” military post.

Arab Muslims Hot & Bothered Over Same Sex Tourism to Israel

Mohammedan Priorities:

When Mohammed worshipers don’t exhort their coreligionists to drink the blood of Jews or to rape Israeli women and children in their jihad to drive the Jews from their ancestral homeland, they whine and bitch about sex tourism to Israel.

Following are excerpts from a news report by Egyptian TV presenter Randa Samir, which aired on Al-Faraeen TV on October 16, 2009.

Randa Samir: A convention has been launched in Tel Aviv in order to discuss the ways to invigorate homosexual tourists – or rather, homosexual tourism – to Israel. 25 travel agencies from abroad are participating in the convention. These agencies specialize in organizing tours for homosexuals. The initiative for the convention came from the tourism organization of the Tel Aviv Municipality, and the homosexual movement in Israel.

You see, people?! My God…My God…They do the loathsome thing that angers God in order to invigorate tourism. We will return….

A Snapper is a Fish. A Jihadist is an Islamic Terrorist

The Age promotes the Snapper Myth

‘He must have snapped. They ignored him.  According to the Associated Press, Hasan had come to the attention of the FBI at least six months ago because of internet postings that discussed suicide bombings and other threats.”

Phyllis Chesler:

Hasan’s action was a planned execution. It was not the act of a man who suddenly “snapped.” More>>

Spencer: In Islamic law, jihad warfare may be defensive or offensive. Jihad is ordinarily fard kifaya – an obligation on the Muslim community as a whole, from which some are freed if others take it up. Jihad becomes fard ayn, or obligatory on every individual Muslim to aid in any way he can, if a Muslim land is attacked. That is what jihadists argue today – that the American presence in Iraq and Afghanistan makes jihad fard ayn, or obligatory on every individual Muslims.

But still, that is just jihad for the defense of Muslim lands. There is also offensive jihad, in line with Muhammad’s command that Muslims offer non-Muslims conversion to Islam, subjugation as inferiors under Islamic rule, or war. But in Islamic law, only the caliph is authorized to wage offensive jihad. (In the absence of a caliph every muslim is individually obliged to wage jihad and to strike terror in the hearts of the enemies, because the world belongs to Allah and the disbelievers have no say in it…/ed)

Killer shrink: Islamic terrorist

Nidal Malik Hasan was born in Virginia but didn’t think of himself as an American: on a form he filled out at the Muslim Community Center in Silver Spring, Maryland, he gave his nationality not as “American” but as “Palestinian.” A mosque official found that curious, saying: “I don’t know why he listed Palestinian. He was not born in Palestine.” More>>

No. Hasan the killer shrink was not a snapper:

Major Nidal Malik Hasan worshipped at a mosque led by a radical imam said to be a “spiritual adviser” to three of the hijackers who attacked America on Sept 11, 2001.

Hasan, the sole suspect in the massacre of 13 fellow US soldiers in Texas, attended the controversial Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Great Falls, Virginia, in 2001 at the same time as two of the September 11 terrorists, The Sunday Telegraph has learnt. His mother’s funeral was held there in May that year.

The preacher at the time was Anwar al-Awlaki, an American-born Yemeni scholar who was banned from addressing a meeting in London by video link in August because he is accused of supporting attacks on British troops and backing terrorist organisations. More here>>

In Toronto this week, the brave ex-Muslim Nonie Darwish mentioned en passant that, on flying from the U.S. to Canada, she was questioned at length about the purpose of her visit by an apparently Muslim border official. When she revealed that she was giving a speech about Islamic law, he rebuked her: “We are not to question sharia.”

The authorities say they’re ‘searching for answers’ to the Fort Hood killings. The Qur’an might be a good place to start.

Michelle Malkin: I’ve said it many times over the years and it bears repeating again as cable TV talking heads ask in bewilderment how all the red flags Hasan raised could have been ignored: Political correctness is the handmaiden of terror.

Palestinian Arabs are unique in international law

There is a sickness in American which needs to be cured. The body infected is Western Media across thepolitical spectrum, and the bug in this case is the idea of “Political Correctness”, picked up by theAmerican Left after being in bed withStalin without protection. This contagious form of insanity requires a person to apply a layer of double-think to any event that even might have political ramifications and, since politics and morality are made one by the PC germ, that covers a lot of ground. In the wake of Fort Hood jihad, Houston authorities try to assure non-Muslims that steps are being taken to keep them safe — no, wait…

Silly me. I thought that after an Islamic jihadist murdered twelve innocent non-Muslims, it would be the non-Muslims who would need reassuring and protecting. But of course that non-existent backlash takes priority over 12 dead unbelievers.

“Some Muslims fear backlash after rampage: In the wake of Fort Hood tragedy, Houston authorities try to assure the faithful steps are being taken to keep followers safe,” by Moises Mendoza and Lindsay Wise for the Houston Chronicle, November 7: via Jihad Watch

KILLEEN — Almost exactly 24 hours after Thursday’s shootings at Fort Hood, Sgt. Fahad Kamal knelt in a small red-brick mosque near the base and prayed for strength.

The 26-year-old combat medic from Sugar Land worships every Friday at Masjidu Ttaqwa on Fort Hood Road, where suspected shooter Nidal Malik Hasan attended services after moving to Killeen from Washington, D.C., this summer.

“I just want to show myself in a positive way for the religion I represent,” he said. “I just hope people don’t stereo type.”

Groups reeling

From Killeen to Houston, Thursday’s killings at Fort Hood left Texas’ tight-knit Muslim community reeling. Though the attack has been universally condemned by U.S. Muslim organizations, some worry that it could give the ignorant an excuse to stereotype and lash out at Muslims — or worse.

Hasan, the killer shrink, was twisting and hijacking the Koran…

Hasan was twisting and hijacking the Koran, you see, and it was the same sort of misunderstanding of Islam that led him to massacre so many infidels at Fort Hood, you see.

Well, that would be just great if he were, because it would indicate that the vast majority of peaceful Muslims don’t agree with Nidal Hasan’s apparent understanding of Islam. So let’s look at the Koran and see what it actually says, as compared to what Hasan said it says.  More>>

Ft Hood mosque member defends shootings: “they were troops who were going to Afghanistan and Iraq to kill Muslims. I honestly have no pity for them.”

Jawa Report

Thanks to DB in the comment section who directs us to this post, which features a BBC interview by Gavin Lee with a member of the Killeen, Texas mosque outside Ft Hood, the Islamic Community Center of Greater Killeen, where Malik Nidal Hasan was currently attending.

In the interview (the whole interview can be heard here), mosque member “Duane” not only refuses to condemn Hasan, but justifies their murder because “they were troops who were going to Afghanistan and Iraq to kill Muslims”.

Here’s the relevant portion of the interview:

This Koranimal sounds exactly like Anjem Chaudary, who clearly stated that a Muslim cannot and never will condemn another Muslim and must stand for the cause, no matter what:

Choudary:“when we say ‘innocent people’ we mean Muslims … if you are a non-Muslim then you’re guilty of not believing in God”(3m 41s) In this video, Anjem Choudary talks about the Islamist terrorist attacks -  7/7 in London.

In other news:

Duane : I’m not going to condemn him for what he did. I don’t know why he did it. I will not, absolutely not, condemn him for what he had done though. If he had done it for selfish reasons I still will not condemn him. He’s my brother in the end. I will never condemn him.Gavin Lee : There might be a lot of people shocked to hear you say that.

Duane: Well, that’s the way it is. I don’t speak for the community here but me personally I will not condemn him.

Gavin Lee : What are your thoughts towards those that were victims in this?

Duane : They were, in the end, they were troops who were going to Afghanistan and Iraq to kill Muslims. I honestly have no pity for them. It’s just like the majority of the people that will hear this, after five or six minutes they’ll be shocked, after that they’ll forget about them and go on their day.

Over at Biased BBC they wonder whether this is the same Duane Reasoner quoted today by the New York Times:

Duane Reasoner Jr., an 18-year-old substitute teacher whose parents worked at Fort Hood, said Major Hassan was told he would be sent to Afghanistan on Nov. 28, and he did not like it.“He said he should quit the Army,” Mr. Reasoner said. “In the Koran, you’re not supposed to have alliances with Jews or Christian or others, and if you are killed in the military fighting against Muslims, you will go to hell.”

Reasoner was also interviewed by Stars & Stripes:

Just last week, Hasan expressed views that Muslims shouldn’t serve in the military and fight other Muslims, according to Duane Reasoner Jr., a recent Muslim convert who had been having dinner regularly with Hasan.Hasan had taken 18-year-old Reasoner under his wing, mentoring him in his new faith. After evening prayers he would often buy a fish dinner for Reasoner and sometimes the iman at the Golden Corral, a chain buffet restaurant. Besides mentioning that he prayed for a wife, the conversation almost never strayed from religion, Reasoner said, describing Hasan as warm and caring.

Looks like Hasan has left some disciples to continue his work at Ft Hood.

Bigots everywhere

How, pray tell,  did we get to the point where telling the truth meant losing your job? How did Islam become so protected, that reporting the words of the killer (as he did his best to slaughter all his coworkers)  is a crime and a firing offense?

How can an eyewitness be afraid to lose her job by telling truthfully that the jihadist  psycho-killer Hasan Malik shouted the Islamic war cry ‘Allahu akbar’? How insanely perverse and twisted has our society become when political correctness and trumped up fears of “bigotry & racism” stifle every debate and make honest discourse impossible?

The attempts to turn Muslims into the victims of a shooting that left 13 non-Muslims dead gets steadily more absurd. From the New York Times:

Mr. Obama has made it a goal of his presidency to repair relations with Muslims around the world; in a major speech in Cairo this year, he called for a “new beginning” with the Muslim world. The shootings at Fort Hood, however, pose a different problem for the president, by shining a spotlight on the tensions Muslims feel inside the United States.

Mark Steyn: Shooter exposes hole in U.S. terror strategy

Same ideological pathologies that drive al-Qaida overpowered Hasan’s American identity.

Maj. Nidal Hasan was an outspoken opponent of the U.S. war on terror and called it a “war against Islam.”-“Hasan told classmates he was “a Muslim first and an American second.”

Mark Steyn

Thirteen dead and 28 wounded would be a bad day for the U.S. military in Afghanistan and a great victory for the Taliban. When it happens in Texas, in the heart of the biggest military base in the nation, at a processing center for soldiers either returning from or deploying to combat overseas, it is not merely a “tragedy” (as too many people called it) but a glimpse of a potentially fatal flaw at the heart of what we have called, since 9/11, the “war on terror.” Brave soldiers trained to hunt down and kill America’s enemy abroad were killed in the safety and security of home by, in essence, the same enemy – a man who believes in and supports everything the enemy does.

And he’s a U.S. Army major.

And his superior officers and other authorities knew about his beliefs but seemed to think it was just a bit of harmless multicultural diversity – as if believing that “the Muslims should stand up and fight against the aggressor” (i.e., his fellow American soldiers) and writing Internet paeans to the “noble” “heroism” of suicide bombers and, indeed, objectively supporting the other side in an active war is to be regarded as just some kind of alternative lifestyle that adds to the general vibrancy of the base.

Shooting Raises Fears For Sanity Of Entire Western World

[Mark Steyn/The Corner]

The Headline of the Day, from the BBC:

Shooting Raises Fears For Muslims In US Army

Really? Right now the body count stands at:

Non-Muslims 13
Muslims 0

I was reading from some of this kind of coverage on the Rush Limbaugh show today. Even if you are concerned that it would be terribly unfair if all Muslims were to be tarred by Major Hasan’s brush, it is, to put it at its mildest, the grossest bad taste to default every single time within minutes to the position that what’s of most interest about an actual atrocity with real victims is that it may provoke an entirely hypothetical atrocity with entirely hypothetical victims. I refer you yet again to this note-perfect parody:

“British Muslims Fear Repercussions Over Tomorrow’s Train Bombing”

This kind of media coverage is really a form of mental illness far more advanced than whatever Major Hasan’s lawyers eventually enter in mitigation, and apparently pandemic, at least among the western media.

Falsehood has more consequences than the revelation of personal insincerity. What happened at Fort Hood was no kind of “tragedy.” It was a criminal act, of the terrorist sort, performed by a man acting upon known Islamist motives. To present the perpetrator himself as a kind of “victim” — a man emotionally distressed by his impending assignment to Afghanistan or Iraq — is to misrepresent the reality >> more

The Dance around the Truth

A Dutch writer living in politically correct America says what too many are afraid to say.

by Leon de Winter

There is only one term that adequately describes the massacre at Fort Hood: a terrorist attack. The media tries to avoid this term, but the more that isknown about the killer, the more it becomes clear that this premeditated and deadly attack on unarmed soldiers and civilians was driven by his belief that Islam should rule the world.

In politically correct America, this massacre will lead to intensified efforts to find explanations which fit into the progressive worldview. It just can’t be true that a serious adult like the perpetrator starts killing because he feels justified to murder infidels.

Within hours, liberal commentators were able to find all kinds of explanations for his attack. The killer was a victim of verbal abuse or of a military that would send him, a soldier, to war. Or he was a victim of the insensitivity demonstrated by women (he wasn’t able to find a wife who was as religious as he was) or of whatever was available to deny the very core of this man’s existence: his unshakable belief in Allah and His final Messenger. But a gunman who shouts “Allahu Akbar” while killing unarmed people is exactly what he purports to be: a killing warrior for his God.
