Pakistan, Fanatical Frenzy Watch:

Muslims, incited by mosque broadcasts, burn down 100 Christian homes and churches

Spencer: And the world yawns. I have many times reversed the situation in headlines to stories like these — i.e., “Christian mob burns down 100 Muslim homes.” Can you imagine the international outcry, the “Islamophobia” studies launched, the hand-wringing at the UN, if a Christian mob (chanting “Deus vult” or “Christ is risen” or some such) began setting fire to Muslim homes and mosques? Yet when Muslim mobs go wild and attack Christians, as they do so often in Pakistan, Egypt, and Nigeria, the international media goes dark, Ban Ki-Moon sees nothing worth remarking upon, Barack Obama sends more money to the government of the perpetrators, and life goes on as usual.

“Muslim Mob Burns Down 100 Christian Homes in Pakistan,” from International Christian Concern, July 1 (thanks to Jeffrey Imm), via JW:

07/01/09 Pakistan (International Christian Concern) – This morning 100 Christian houses and churches were set on fire by local Muslims in the city of Kasur South, east of Lahore, Pakistan. The riots were incited by broadcasts from local mosques. This incident is similar to a February 1997 attack when thousands of Christian houses and churches were burned and hundreds of Christians were injured.

ICC partners received the news this morning and went immediately to the scene to help injured Christians transferred to Lahore, renting two mini vans for this purpose. So far 9 burned women and 4 children have been transferred to Lahore for further medical treatment. All of them have been injured by throwing acid on them. Local police have arrived on the scene but the situation is out of control as thousands of Muslims have gathered for this purpose.
More details to follow. Please call the Pakistani embassy in your country to ask them to protect the Christians in Kasur South.

Nearly 60 Pakistani Air Force personnel arrested for jihadist connections in past two years

Tiny Minority of Extremists Alert. This story corroborates an earlier one detailing a retired Pakistani army general’s concerns about jihadist sympathies within the officers’ corps. “Pak AF personnel with jihadi links spark alarm,” by Omar Farooq Khan for the Times News Network, June 25:

Shocker: “Banned” Pakistani jihadist groups expanding

The report’s recommendation to the Pakistani government? Just keep an eye on them. “Banned Pakistani groups ‘expand’,” by Syed Shoaib Hasan for BBC News, June 29

Jihad against joy, culture in Lahore

“There is no humor in Islam. There is no fun in Islam. There can be no fun and joy in whatever is serious.” – Ayatollah Khomeini

“The Prophet said that Allah commanded him to destroy all the musical instruments, idols, crosses and all the trappings of ignorance.” – Hadith Qudsi 19:5

“Winds of Islamism make Pakistani artists shiver,” by Ayesha Nasir for the Christian Science Monitor, June 28:

Taliban jihadists returning to territory held prior to 9/11

“[General Stanley] McChrystal, touring Afghanistan after taking command of about 90,000 US and NATO forces mid-June, said separately the “most dangerous thing” in Afghanistan was not attacks by insurgents but their infiltration into village structures.”

“Afghan insurgents returning to pre-9/11 haunts: US military,” from Agence France-Presse, June 29:

Turks increasingly turning to Islamic “extremism”

Tiny Minority of Extremists Alert, as still more “misunderstanders” of Islam emerge. The article provides a good account, however, of how the perceived “moderation” in Turkey is not because of Islam, but in spite of it, and due to the competing ideology of Turkish secularism. “Turks increasingly turn to Islamic extremism,” by Sebastian Rotella for the Los Angeles Times, June 28: Jihad Watch

Interfaith dialogue: Senior mufti in Mecca says Shi’ite clerics are infidels

And the Saudi establishment and others have been silent. One oddity is worth noting: Does the outrage of being treated as an “infidel” by a rival Islamic denomination ever cause the victims to question whether this dhimmitude thing is such a good idea? Or are they just anxious to reclaim their right to be the ones dishing it out? After all, ’tis better to give than receive.

“Iraq PM criticises Muslim ‘silence’ on cleric’s death calls,” from Agence France-Presse, June 25:

Philippines: 3 dead as jihadists bomb café on Mindanao

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front is suspected, again. “Three dead, 15 hurt in Philippines blast,” from Agence France-Presse, June 29:

Jihadists kill nine government troops in southern Philippines

When asked about the attack, the spokesman for the Moro Islamic Liberation Front took advantage of plausible deniability, saying “Our forces on the ground have autonomy. They can do whatever they want but it’s not sanctioned by the entire organization.” That tends to defeat the purpose of having an organization, unless the whole point is to act with impunity and evade responsibility.

  1. This info above is available to me , a private person with only the internet to rely on .
Our politicians and policy makers have the internet and more – access to people in the know , research assistants and so forth .
I can see what’s going on – they must too .
But they don’t want to act – why not ?
Have they sold out – literally – to arabs with a pile of money ?
What other conclusion can I come to ?
