This is getting better every day:
“Police have called for caution to be taken before speculating over the motive for the double murder after it was reported that the knifeman shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ (‘God is greatest’, in Arabic).”
Actually it means Allah is greater, i.e., greater than your god. It is a declaration of supremacism and a demand for submission. But authorities in France, blind as ever, are in doubt as to the motive for the attack, because, you know, Methodists and Hardshell Baptists and Theravada Buddhists and all sorts of other people scream “Allahu akbar” all the time while they’re clipping their fingernails or going to the movies or doing any number of random things, so it doesn’t really have any particular significance, right?
In this case, since the victims were the man’s father and brother, he may have thought them apostates for some reason, or to have sullied the family honor.
Those who wear the rose coloured glasses are no different from their counterparts prior to WWII. Hitler made his intentions clear in Mein Kampf. His rebuilding of Germany’s armed forces were met by most European leaders with inaction. Hitler outmaneuvered and outsmarted most, one of the few exceptions being Winston Churchill. Europe capitulated with little more than token resistance. Nothing has changed except we no longer have a leader the stature of Winston Churchill in the UK. Maybe Mr Wilders and LePen can stem the tide. It’s pretty late in the day, however. I’m just real glad I’m on the other side of the world.
