Highest paid bureaucrat Tony Fauci has lamely denied that he funneled US taxpayer money to our Chinese communist enemies to fund the gain of function research that apparently resulted in the Wuhan coronavirus. But even if he did fund the GoF research, it was worth the risk. Fauci has said so himself:
The Weekend Australian unearthed a paper Fauci wrote for the American Society for Microbiology in October 2012 in which he argued in support of gain-of-function research. Such research involves making viruses more infectious and/or deadly. …
The Weekend Australian report adds that Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, did not alert senior White House officials before lifting a ban on gain-of-function research in 2017.
Fauci acknowledged that scientists could become infected with an experimental virus, and that this could lead to a pandemic. Then he declared,
Scientists working in this field might say – as indeed I have said – that the benefits of such experiments and the resulting knowledge outweigh the risks. …
Within the research community, many have expressed concern that important research progress could come to a halt just because of the fear that someone, somewhere, might attempt to replicate these experiments sloppily.
As we learned from Chernobyl, the place to have science done sloppily is in a communist country. Communists ascribe little value to human life, so safety is not a priority.
Even now we don’t know for a fact that Covid was a result of bioweapons research or even that it came from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. However, all indications are pointing in that direction. This has left egg on the face of New York Times Covid reporter Apoorva Mandavilli, who still insists it is “racist” to dispute the collapsing natural origin narrative, regardless of emerging evidence. But even if people point at her and laugh, she shouldn’t take it too hard. Apoorva is hardly the only one to make a fool of herself trying to prevent people from learning the truth about the ChiCom virus’s origins.
Via Daily Caller:
As developments have been making increasingly obvious, claiming that the lab origin theory had been debunked was not merely misinformation but a straightforward lie. The last of the liberal establishment media’s credibility can be listed among the casualties of Covid.
