Trump Tightens the Screws: Cuba’s Castro Family & Figurehead ‘President’ in the Crosshairs

The U.S. State Department announced a new round of sanctions Thursday on the crème de la crème of Cuba’s communist Castro family dynasty, including multiple Castro family members and figurehead “president” Miguel Díaz-Canel.

Trump Tightens the Screws: Sanctions Target Cuba’s Castro Family and Figurehead ‘President’

Diáz-Canel’s wife and stepson, who has been romantically linked to Hollywood actress Ana de Armas, and several nefarious communist regime organizations were also on the list of designated actors on Thursday. In addition to blocking their ability to do business with American people and businesses, the particular designations handed down on Thursday could also result in foreign third parties being sanctioned under U.S. law for dealings with them.

The State Department announced that it would be imposing designations on five people and five “entities” on Thursday, all under the authority of Executive Order 14404, which allows for expanded sanctions on the Cuban communist regime. In addition to over half a century of extreme human rights abuses against its own people, the Castro regime is a U.S.-designated state sponsor of terrorism, linked to a host of anti-American criminal actors including jihadist terror organizations such as Hezbollah and narco-terror groups such as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia.

Trump Slams Deep State Protections: Signs DOGE Order to Fire 8,000 Rogue Federal Bureaucrats

Trump promises to clean up Deep State corruption….

Donald Trump‘s purge of the federal bureaucracy escalated Wednesday with an executive order making it easier to fire 8,000 federal workers.

The order reclassified the workers as at-will employees, meaning the government can now terminate them without offering a reason.

President Donald Trump delivered another major blow to the unaccountable Washington swamp on June 3, 2026, by signing a powerful executive order under the Department of Government Efficiency. This move reclassifies about 8,000 senior policy-making federal positions, stripping away outdated civil service shields that have let incompetent or disloyal employees undermine America First priorities for years.

Trump Hits Cuba With New Sanctions; Rubio Warns Of Havana’s Foreign Influence Ops

The Trump administration’s Cuba pressure campaign accelerated this past week, with Trump signing an executive order Friday that broadens U.S. sanctions against Havana and opens the door to severe penalties on foreign firms operating key nodes in the Cuban economy. On top of this, Secretary of State Marco Rubio made a very interesting comment, as if he or his staffers had read our late-2025 note titled “Is There A ‘Cuba Connection’ Behind The Radicalization Of America’s Nonprofit Left?”

Let’s begin with the next round of U.S. sanctions that target the communist regime, more specifically, individuals, entities, affiliates, officials, and supporters linked to Cuba’s security apparatus, corruption, or serious human rights abuses. It also authorizes secondary sanctions against parties that conduct or facilitate transactions with sanctioned targets, as this can only be viewed as maximum pressure against the Havana communists ramping up. Trump: “Cuba’s Next”

Trump also told reporters, “I think something will happen with Cuba pretty quickly.”

Trump: “Cuba’s Next By the Way But Pretend I Didn’t Say That Please… Cuba’s Next.”

President Trump on Friday renewed his threats to invade Cuba while speaking at the Future Investment Initiative Priority Summit in Miami Beach, Florida.

While speaking about the US’s invasion of Venezuela, where Nicolas Maduro was captured, Trump told the crowd, “Cuba’s next by the way,” before joking that the media should disregard his comments. Then, he doubled down, stating, “Cuba’s next.”

This comes as the Department of Justice is preparing to charge Communist Cuban leaders in cases related to drugs or violence.

Trump has also cut off the flow of oil by threatening tariffs on any country that provides oil to Cuba through an Executive Order last month.

Aid flotilla vessel arrives in Cuba amid US-driven energy crisis

Activists say that aid delivery is small ‘gesture of solidarity’ meant to draw attention to US energy blockade.

The first boat in a humanitarian aid flotilla has arrived in Cuba to support the island amid a worsening US energy blockade that is deepening its economic and energy crises.

A boat carrying about 30 people, including food, medicine, solar panels, and bicycles, arrived in Havana, the capital city, on Tuesday, part of the “Nuestra America” or “Our America” convoy that set out from Mexico last week.

Cuba’s government is taking the unusual step of asking its own exiles in the United States to invest in the island as it navigates its most severe economic collapse since independence. In an interview with NBC on Monday, Deputy Prime Minister Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga signaled that the communist nation is now “open” to establishing business ties with American companies and the Cuban diaspora living abroad.

Costa Rica Cuts Ties to Cuba

We do not recognize the legitimacy of this government,” the president asserted on Wednesday. “We have to clean the hemisphere of communists. Simple as that.”—President of Costa Rica Rodrigo Chaves Robles

‘We Must Clean the Hemisphere of Communists’

President of Costa Rica Rodrigo Chaves Robles announced on Wednesday that his country would cut all diplomatic ties to Cuba, shutting down its embassy in Havana and ordering all Cuban diplomats out of the country.

Chaves Robles, whose term is slated to end in May, explicitly stated that his opposition to socialism and communism – and an escalation in human rights abuses by the Cuban Communist Party at home – were the reason for his decision.

Rubio says Cuba needs to ‘get new people in charge’ as US ratchets pressure

Trump, who on Monday said he could “take” Cuba, and has previously floated a “friendly takeover” of the country, said on Tuesday that a new action was imminent.

Washington continues to block fuel to island nation, as Trump floats ‘doing something with Cuba very soon’.

Leftist former President of Mexico Andrés Manuel López Obrador over the weekend launched a fundraising campaign for Cuba’s communist Castro regime, inviting everyone to donate money to a recently established charity that will purchase “humanitarian aid” to allegedly “help the Cuban people.”

López Obrador, often referred to by his initials “AMLO,” served as president of Mexico between 2018 and 2024, succeeded by his political protégé, President Claudia Sheinbaum. Since then, the former president has largely kept himself out of the public eye. In November 2025, he reiterated that he would remain “retired” and would only return to the streets if “democracy were under threat,” a coup, or if it were necessary to “defend Mexico’s sovereignty.”

Despite his assertion that he would remain “retired,” local outlets noted that he has broken his “retirement” vow on several occasions. On Saturday, López Obrador published a social media post stating that he is in retirement but that it “pains me to see that they seek to annihilate the brotherly people of Cuba in the name of their ideals of freedom and the defense of sovereignty.” Continue reading Mexico: Ex-President Rattles the Begging Bowl For Cuba
