Spanish police say about 70% of the Moroccans processed in Ceuta after July’s mass entry have asked for asylum alleging persecution over their sexual orientation, according to El Periódico de Ceuta, which relays figures from National Police sources first published by the Spanish daily ABC. The number comes from unnamed police sources, not published statistics.

French President Emmanuel Macron touched down in Kuwait on Monday morning to begin a three-day tour of the Gulf, thus fleeing a country being torn apart by riots and civil unrest.
Macron did not admit to any personal failings after his government failed to foresee or prevent some of the most destructive riots in recent memory, instead singling out others as a target for his finger-waving admonitions.
On Friday night, just before the latest round of riots began, the president was seen in a private box alongside his wife as they clapped and sang along at a concert featuring Canadian singer Celine Dion in Paris.

Dutch Housing Minister Elanor Boekholt-O’Sullivan drew sharp criticism this week after defending priority access to scarce social housing for recognized refugees, arguing that many young Dutch first-time home seekers “can still live with their parents.”
In an interview with De Telegraaf, the D66 minister was asked why status holders – asylum seekers granted residence permits – should receive preference for social rental homes while Dutch “starters” face long waiting lists and delayed independence. She responded that “we see that a lot of starters can still, or are allowed to, live with their parents.”
Dutch commentator and activist Eva Vlaardingerbroek wrote on X that the policy amounted to “systemic racism.”

Hundreds to well over a thousand arrests occurred on peak days, with injuries to police and others. This is not “peaceful protest for basic rights”; significant parts of the mobilisation crossed into criminal violence and destruction of heritage and public assets.

All the fiends of Hell have been loosed, and are now rampaging through the cities of France. Yesterday afternoon a mob set fire to the Mairie, or town hall, of Limoges. The fire raged on into the night, and eventually the building’s iconic bell tower toppled into the burning ruins.
Like the fall of the steeple of Notre Dame in Paris, the moment serves as a symbolic reminder that the great, ancient civilisation known as France is rapidly approaching its smouldering finale.
