That’s  after  BBC One’s Panorama programme featured an undercover investigation into Britain’s Shariah courts, which revealed “some women claiming to have suffered domestic violence”.  The women have been ignored by these religious-type courts when they have gone to them for help.

“There is a strong case for the Shariah councils to be better resourced and supported to make their work standardised to ensure consistency and quality across the board.”

Muslim leaders in Bradford want to set up a “robust and transparent” Islamic court in the city to set a good example for other towns and cities in the UK to follow.

With taxpayer money, of course.

Leave Me Alone, She Is My Wife I Can Do What I Want With Her  (Arab Times)

KUWAIT CITY, April 7: A Kuwaiti man recently who was beating his wife in broad daylight on the Ahmed Jaber Street in Sharq shouted at the passersby and said “Leave me alone, she is my wife I can do what I want with her.”

The citizen then rushed to his vehicle and pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot anyone who tried to intervene between him and his wife and soon after fled the scene. After the wife filed a complaint with the area police the man was arrested and brought to the station. The husband has been detained and necessary action has been taken to refer him to the Public Prosecution.

Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti woman has submitted a medical report to the Andalus Police Station which shows injuries on her body as a result of assault by her husband.

When the police summoned the husband for interrogation, he said he beat his wife because she had left the house without his knowledge and that he suspected her behavior.

Mitra, quite literally, freaked out at this “Zionist” criticism:

They have been lurking in the shadows and their plan was to corrode society in Oman from within, like termites in wood works. They are the Zionist zealots who have been living like parasites in the Sultanate running blogs that, more than anything else, seek to justify the atrocities Israel has been perpetrating —sans remorse— against the humanity in general, and Palestinians in particular.  These termites, nay Zionist virus, have recently been exposed, caught red-handed in their attempts to contaminate people’s minds, polluting Oman’s social mosaic. Their sinister design to malign Arabs and muffle voices that expose Israeli shenanigans now lie completely stripped of all camouflages.

I fear for that blogger.  In Oman, those with perspectives critical of the governments are often arrested. in spite of this:
