According to a report by veteran journalist Danny Zaken in “Israel Hayom” – Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has reportedly approached several Middle Eastern countries for help against the Houthis — including an indirect request to Israel for intelligence and other assistance.

According to regional diplomatic sources, Riyadh contacted other Gulf states and Egypt directly, while the request to Israel was reportedly conveyed through US Central Command. The goal: help prevent the Houthis from threatening or closing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

How Hezbollah actually formed and grew

Hezbollah (“Party of God”) emerged in the early 1980s as a Lebanese organization, not a mass influx of foreign settlers:

  • It arose during the Lebanese Civil War (1975–1990) amid the marginalization of many Shia, the presence of Palestinian armed groups, and Israel’s 1982 invasion/occupation of southern Lebanon (aimed at expelling the PLO).
  • Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) personnel provided training, ideology (inspired by the 1979 Iranian Revolution and velayat-e faqih), funding, and organization, often operating from the Bekaa Valley with Syrian acquiescence. Local Lebanese Shia clerics, activists, and breakaways from the more secular Amal Movement formed the core.
  • It formally announced itself around 1985. Early activities included attacks on Israeli forces, Western targets (e.g., the 1983 Beirut barracks bombings), and rivalry with other Lebanese factions.
  • Over decades it built a dual military-political structure, social services (schools, clinics, welfare), and political representation. Its military capability expanded significantly after the 2006 war with Israel, with ongoing Iranian arms and funding. Recruitment is overwhelmingly from Lebanese Shia communities, motivated by a mix of ideology, resistance narrative against Israel, patronage (salaries, benefits), and local conditions.

In short, Hezbollah is indigenous to Lebanon’s Shia population, enabled and sustained by Iranian support.

Iran: Yemen’s Houthis seize strategic city of Mocha in ‘stunning’ blow

It’s getting messy in Arabia….

The Houthis have seized the strategic port of Mocha, bringing the Islamic Republic’s most powerful remaining proxy dangerously closer to the Bab al-Mandab chokepoint. Over the past 48 hours, Houthi forces have rapidly pushed south along Yemen’s Red Sea coast, taking Hays, Al-Khawkhah, Al-Wazi’iyah, Mawza, the Khalid ibn al-Walid camp and Mocha, while Saudi-backed Yemeni forces retreated toward Dhubab, much closer to the strait.

⚓ Mocha dramatically improves the Houthis’ position on the Red Sea.

The port sits roughly 60–75 km north of Bab al-Mandab. Consolidating Mocha gives the Houthis another coastal position and brings them closer to Dhubab and Perim Island, directly overlooking one of the world’s most important shipping arteries.

✈️ Saudi Arabia has enormous airpower, but has so far stopped short of fully committing it to the coastal battle. Saudi aircraft have conducted strikes across Yemen, but air support has been intermittent and poorly integrated with the forces actually trying to hold the Hays–Al-Khawkhah–Mocha line.

When Houthi drones, missiles and ground forces applied pressure, the line collapsed.

The war in Yemen is threatening to open a new front as the Iran-allied Houthi rebels are trying to advance along the Red Sea coast, through the mountain chains of Taiz province, edging closer to strategic ground that overlooks one of the world’s most vital maritime arteries.

For the internationally recognised Yemeni government, this is an offensive with global consequences.

Rubio vows to ‘strangle’ Iran economically

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said US forces will continue to target Iranian oil tankers in retaliation for attacks on their warships, adding that Washington aims to “strangle” Tehran economically.

“At the end of the day, they continue to fire at our naval ships, and when they fire at our naval ships, they pay a price in tankers,” Rubio told reporters. “They lose a lot of tankers, they don’t hit our ships, but they lose five tankers.”

Iran-Backed Houthi Terrorists Attack Saudi Cities; Women and Children Injured

The Iran-backed Houthi insurgents of Yemen launched drone and missile attacks against four cities in southern Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, injuring at least 70 people and inflicting significant damage on Saudi oil facilities.

The Houthis claimed successful attacks on an air base in the Saudi city of Khamis Mushait, plus oil facilities in Abha, Najran, and Jazan. Jazan is a Red Sea port located near the Yemeni border that hosts one of the largest refineries in Saudi Arabia. The Jazan refinery was targeted by Houthi attacks several times in August.

Satellite photos showed smoke billowing from the refinery in Jazan and the oil distribution center in Abha, but few additional details about the strikes were released by the Saudi government.

The casualty count stood at 73 people injured as of late Tuesday morning, with no reported fatalities. Saudi officials said women and children were among the wounded.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi privately expressed support for the assassination of President Trump.

According to Iranian MP Mojtaba Zarei, Araghchi was asked during a closed National Security Commission meeting about killing Trump in retaliation and responded that whoever carries it out, “I will kiss his hand.”

The remarks come as Trump’s campaign of powerful economic sanctions and the naval blockade has shredded the Islamic Republic’s economic and strategic capacity, choking its oil lifeline and increasing pressure on a system already struggling to sustain itself and its proxies.

Araghchi is portrayed as part of the Islamic Republic’s so-called “moderate” faction, yet publicly he has dismissed threats to assassinate Trump as the rhetoric of “extremists.” There is no real moderate faction.

The distinction is fake. They serve the same Islamic Republic, defend the same system and only change their language depending on the audience.

Online claims of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier’s demise were greatly exaggerated…

In yet another example of Iranian social media claims not matching up with reality, the nuclear powered Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln is returning home after a 286 day deployment and 5 days of rest at port in Thailand.  The ship was untouched by any signs of combat, despite the IRGC claiming on at least three separate occasions that they had sunk the mighty vessel with drones and missile strikes.

Iranian aligned accounts even spread AI videos and video game clips of a ship sinking, arguing that the clips showed the Abraham Lincoln.  Left wing commentators celebrated the news, only to scrub their posts after it was revealed that the information was fake.

The ship was cleaned at port with no signs of damage from attack.  It has now left Thailand on a return trip to the US and the Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado (San Diego).

Washington claimed the Iranian tankers it struck were part of a multibillion-dollar shadow network financing the IRGC and its regional allies.

Iran has long relied partly on a shadow fleet to circumvent sanctions and sell oil, a source of revenue that has become more important since the US began blockading Iranian ports in April.

The Islamic Republic’s oil lifeline is being strangled at sea. Its exports have collapsed, its tankers are trapped on both sides of the blockade, and the hard currency keeping the Islamic Republic afloat is rapidly drying up.

U.S. Strikes Three Iranian Tankers After Iran Attacks Aircraft Carrier

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) on Saturday announced that two Iranian oil tankers were disabled by U.S. airstrikes, and a third was “completely destroyed.” One of the tankers was struck near Iran’s primary oil loading facility at Kharg Island, confirming reports of explosions near the island by Iranian state media.

CENTCOM said the strikes were conducted in response to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a designated terrorist organization, launching ballistic missiles at U.S. Navy warships on patrol in “regional waters.”

“A U.S. aircraft carrier and guided-missile destroyer successfully evaded multiple unprovoked Iranian attacks. No American personnel were harmed,” CENTCOM said.

U.S. forces responded by “permanently disabling” the Iranian oil carriers MT Downy, located off the coast of Kharg Island, and MT Stark 1, which was struck near the Iranian coastal city of Jask.

In addition, U.S. forces “completely destroyed” the unladen crude oil carrier MT Kylo in the Gulf of Oman.

CENTCOM said the Kylo, which is also known as the MT Noxen, was struck in “multiple critical locations to render it inoperable after the crew was directed to abandon ship.”

Iran is down to roughly two months of gasoline as the U.S. blockade and President Donald Trump’s escalating economic offensive choke off the regime’s oil exports and remaining financial lifelines — a rapidly worsening crisis that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Friday branded the “Jaws of Death for the Iranian Economy.”

The extraordinary assessment came from inside the regime itself. Three senior Iranian sources told Reuters on Thursday that U.S. sanctions and the blockade are increasingly crippling Tehran’s ability to import critical goods, obtain foreign currency, and finance the costly networks it has long used to evade American restrictions.

Most strikingly, one of the officials said Iran — despite sitting atop some of the world’s largest oil reserves — has only about two months of gasoline remaining.

Iran’s battered refining infrastructure has left the country dependent on imported gasoline that it is increasingly unable to obtain, while the broader economic offensive is simultaneously stripping Tehran of the money and financial channels needed to circumvent U.S. sanctions.

Trump says US may hit Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain soon, new oil pipelines may replace Hormuz

US President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday that the United States may hit Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain very soon.

Pickaxe Mountain, located ​near Iran’s heavily damaged Natanz uranium enrichment facility, is ​a heavily fortified site that hosts two deeply buried tunnel complexes.

Trump credited the US’s space technology and the US Space Force as the reason the US has comprehensive intelligence on movement around Pickaxe Mountain.

“We’re leading in space. We know everybody that’s moving at Pickaxe, we know everybody that’s moving everywhere, all over Iran, and if anything goes bad, we hit them. We hit them hard,” Trump said.

Trump also downplayed the situation, saying he called it a “military conflict,” instead of a war.

“It’s small potatoes for us. It’s not a big thing,” Trump said.

US said drafting postwar plan to create alliance against Iran, expand Abraham Accords

US President Donald Trump’s administration is crafting a post-Iran war strategy to build a regional alignment of US allies to contain Iran, while also expanding the Abraham Accords, the Axios news site reported on Friday.

The report said that in private conversations, Trump has told people that he’s working on “something much bigger” in the Middle East after the war with Iran.
