No Deal

Trump says Lebanon and Hezbollah not included in Iran ceasefire: “Yeah they were not included in the deal.” When asked about Israel’s ongoing strikes in Lebanon, Trump replied: “It’s part of the deal — everyone knows that. That’s a separate skirmish.”

The White House on Wednesday touted achieving a ceasefire and said the United States “exceeded” all military objectives in the Iran war within the initially projected time frame.

Iran shuts Strait of Hormuz after Israel strikes Lebanon

Oil tankers and high speed crafts sit anchored at Muscat Anchorage near the Strait of Horm

Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz just a few hours into the ceasefire agreement due to Israeli strikes in Lebanon.

Iran reportedly violated the ceasefire agreement brokered by Pakistan in a matter of hours by once again closing the Strait of Hormuz to commercial traffic, ostensibly because Israel has refused to halt its operation against the Hezbollah terrorists of Lebanon.

Iran’s state-run Fars news agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said on Wednesday morning that two oil tankers were allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz “with permission from Iran” – but the strait was then closed again “in response to Israeli strikes in Lebanon.”

CBS News reported that Iran’s remaining naval forces are still warning ships in the Persian Gulf that they must obtain “permission” from Iran to transit the Strait of Hormuz.

Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, said on Wednesday morning that Lebanon was never part of the ceasefire arrangement. President Donald Trump also said on Wednesday that Lebanon was “not included in the deal” because of the “separate skirmish” between Israel and Hezbollah.

And yes, Hezbollah gets roasted:

 Dependency with an attitude problem.

The great fraud of the contemporary world…

4 April 2026

Don’t bite the hand that feeds you. In geopolitics, the vice is uglier still: entire governments now bite the hand that shields them.

That is the modern Western arrangement in one line: America is the wealthy, capable, relentlessly active grandfather who still pays the bills, still fixes the roof, still shows up when danger turns financial or physical, and still serves as the family’s emergency backstop. Europe, Britain and Australia are the adult children who mismanaged their own households, neglected their own responsibilities, and now spend their time lecturing the one relative still keeping the lights on.

That is not an alliance at its healthiest. It is a dependency with an attitude and accountability problem.

That is the real story behind the convulsions over Iran. The issue is not merely whether Donald Trump is abrasive or disliked in political-class diplomatic circles. He is. The deeper story is that too many ‘allied’ governments have become structurally dependent, strategically incapable, and morally evasive. Nato’s own Secretary General more or less admitted as much last week: European allies and Canada lifted defence spending by 20 per cent in 2025, but only after years of leaning shamelessly on American power. The United States still accounted for around 60 per cent of Nato defence spending in 2025. That is not a balanced alliance. It is a family of overgrown children still running tabs through grandad’s account while pretending they are financially independent. It is also a representation of a clear pattern. Iran’s FM Araghchi says safe passage through Hormuz Strait possible for two weeks via coordination with armed forces

Iran’s foreign minister has shared a statement on behalf of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council declaring that “if attacks against Iran are halted, our Powerful Armed Forces will cease their defensive operations”.

“For a period of two weeks, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible via coordination with Iran’s armed forces and with due consideration to technical limitations,” Araghchi added.

So far, the Iranian and US statements have not offered details on how the truce will affect southern Lebanon, where Hezbollah has been engaged in fierce fighting against invading Israeli troops.

If Lebanon is exempt from the ceasefire, it could be a major blow for Hezbollah, which is facing internal pressure from Lebanese opponents, who accuse the group of dragging the country to war for the sake of Iran.
