Here we are again, back in the zone where having an ­alternative view makes you the enemy.

These are the climate change tactics back again… Those who resisted were “deniers”, “out of touch”, “fossils and dinosaurs”, “selfish” and “in the pocket of the oil companies”.

Same game, different story.

The left is again framing its debate so that anyone who disagrees is bashed into a lonely corner… And, if that doesn’t work, pull out the “international embarrassment” card..

Sound familiar? Just like climate change, and the push towards a republic in the late ‘90s, gay marriage has become the latest and greatest moral challenge of our times. The trouble is, it’s not.

Later years offered greater clarity — and a shift from 1996. Civil unions? Yes. Gay marriage? No.

Still, in a 2007 Democratic primary debate sponsored by a gay rights group and a gay-oriented cable TV channel, he spoke instead about his support for civil unions with “all the benefits that are available for a legally sanctioned marriage” — but not for legal recognition of “marriage” between same-sex couples. It should be up to religious denominations to determine whether they wanted to recognize that as marriage or not, he said….

In November 2008 … “I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage.”

The daily family ritual of sitting down to dinner together has taken on a new significance for about half a million Australian Muslims observing the holy month of Ramadan.

They must abstain from all food and drink during daylight hours to purify the soul, refocus on God, and practice self-sacrifice.

The fast is broken every evening at sunset with special meals enjoyed together with family and friends.

“It is such a special thing for us, the Ramadan dinner,” said mother-of-five, Canan Coskun, from Logan, south of Brisbane.

“If you can imagine you haven’t eaten all day so you’re really looking forward to that soup and that bread, and everything just seems so delicious.”

Her family hosts the special dinners, or Iftars, where they invite non-Muslim guests to share in the evening meal at their home.

This year, the Coskuns counted Queensland’s Acting Assistant Police Commissioner Brent Carter among their guests.

“What better thing to do with someone than to sit down and have food with them?” said Mrs Coskun.

“Especially when we’re in my home and I’m serving them food.

“To share that special moment with people from other faith backgrounds, it means a lot to us.”

Mrs Coskun said she believed having a meal together could also help to break down barriers.

“I’ve had many people over at my house who have never seen a Muslim person before, or maybe they’ve never seen a woman in a hijab,” she said.

“They’re sitting at my dinner table and just kind of looking at me serving them soup and serving them sweets, and I can see them thinking, ‘wow, they’re pretty much like us and they’re quite normal’.”

The notion of going without food or water for thirty days also sparks plenty of questions from non-Muslim guests.

Following last week’s Islamic State-inspired terrorist attacks against Europeans in Tunisia and France, British Prime Minister David Cameron said the atrocities were inspired by “a twisted and perverted ideology.” At the same time, he called Islam a religion of “peace.”

That seemingly forgiving attitude toward Islam as a whole, even while lambasting radical Islam, is the sentiment a prominent Middle Eastern journalist questioned in an article this week urging Muslims to embark on a soul-searching about the parts of their religious heritage that are inspiring terrorists.

Eyad Abu Shakra, the managing editor of the London-based pan-Arab newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, took on the controversial topic in a column on Tuesday in which he criticized those who contend that perpetrators commit atrocities because they feel alienated from Western culture.

“As for the heinous atrocity committed in France, those still trying to defend it, and interpret crimes like it, may claim that it was a natural negative outcome of cultural alienation, a reaction against religious and racial prejudice, and a case of escapism from an ethnically rejectionist society,” Abu Shakra wrote, adding:

There is little doubt that each of the three crimes [in France, Tunisia, Kuwait] committed in the same day across three continents has its own specific traits; however, the common denominator is much more significant and dangerous.

Furthermore, it is the main issue while the rest are details. It is up to Muslims – particularly, Arabs – either to ignore the bitter truth and so leave the disease to get worse until it turns fatal, or to admit its existence as a first step to radically treating it.

The three crimes are nothing but parts of a whole. They are examples of criminal actions committed in the name of the “true Islam” for years all over the world, without being firmly encountered, although they are pushing all Muslims in a real war against the whole world.

Abu Shakra suggested it was unrealistic to expect the West to aid the Muslim world when Muslims are killing Muslims.

“What right do we have to call upon the countries of the world to help us and alleviate our suffering when we harm not only our own interests, but also our own people, killing each other and declaring segments of our people apostates or traitors?” he asked rhetorically, adding that “the time for excuses and apologies has long gone.”

To drive home his argument, Abu Shakra cited an article written by a colleague in January after the terrorist attacks in Paris when Muslims asserted that the attackers were “not representative of the true Islam.”

Journalist Nadim Koteich – described by the Middle East Media Research Institute as a “Shi’ite known for his opposition to Hezbollah” – asked then, “What is this ‘true Islam’ those condemning crimes committed in the name of Islam are talking about?”

The Lebanese writer argued that terrorists use Islamic texts to justify their killings.

“The original texts that form an inseparable part of true Islam and inspire the ongoing crimes committed in its name are also guilty,” he wrote on Lebanon’s NOW website.

He also suggested that state constitutions based on Shariah law and religious schools, which he called “factories for crime,” are part of the problem.

“These killers are us. They are our religion at its most extreme. They are our true Islam taken to its furthest extent and they are not beyond the scripture. If the West says in one united voice ‘we are Charlie’ we should say ‘we are ISIS,’” Koteich wrote.

The Israel Police has reported that Arab residents of Judea and Samaria are taking advantage of the unprecedented concessions for the Muslim month of Ramadan to sexually abuse Jewish women on Tel Aviv beaches, in a state of affairs that repeats itself every year.

Police have revealed that the Ramadan “gestures” granting Arabs entry permits and direct buses to pray at the Temple Mount – where the Jordanian Waqf forbids Jews from praying – have been manipulated by many to stay on in Israel and visit the coastal beaches. There, many of the Arab visitors have reportedly been harassing Jewish women.

For years I have been saying it: Most Americans still don’t know or understand the implications of America’s support of the jihad in Europe, but that’s exactly what Bill Clinton’s intervention in the Balkans was. Clinton sent American soldiers to fight alongside Bosnian mujahedeen against the Serb Christians in the Bosnia war. The Democrats aligned with the jihad then and the Democrats align with the jihad now, despite the thousands of Americans slaughtered at their hand.

Here is yet more of the unending poisonous yield of Clinton’s vicious ill-conceived war. I continue to take heat for my support of the Serbs (Christians) in Clinton’s Bosnian misadventure. We were on the wrong side in that war, and the consequences of Clinton’s perfidy continue to reverberate in that region. I’ve been excoriated for saying this — but now even the BBC has to admit that the position I have taken was right all along, although of course they’d rather take the gaspipe than admit that their stance on Bosnia (and on me) has been drastically wrongheaded all these years.

The formation of a “Mujahideen Battalion” in 1992, composed mainly of Arab volunteers in central Bosnia, was a landmark. Today the dynamic of jihad has been reversed and it is Bosnians who are travelling to Arab lands.

“There is a war between the West and Islam,” says Aimen Dean, who, as a young Saudi Arabian volunteer, travelled to fight in central Bosnia in 1994. “Bosnia gave the modern jihadist movement that narrative. It is the cradle.”

A “British” teacher has been banned from the classroom for life after a tirade of pro-ISIS rants on Twitter.

Nargs Bibi, 32, was found guilty by a disciplinary panel of posting the foul-mouthed rants online.

Among other things Bibi posted sick messages in line with ISIS militants’ actions, such as beheadings.

The former teacher posted lines like “beheading deserved” online before telling his followers: “Well done IS…don’t blow the shrines up…kill kafir for wat they’ve done[sic].”

He went on to say: “F*** ur teaching job. F*** UK and US…Allah destroy them. They deserve every killing…hide it frm public…cant hide it frm me[sic].”
