AFP, like all establishment media sources, is determined to do everything it can to ensure that people think positively of Islam. Nevertheless, this is just silly. There was child marriage in the land that is known today as Pakistan long before there was any “climate change” myth-making.

Islamic tradition records that Muhammad consummated his marriage with (i.e., raped) Aisha when she was nine, and the resultant fact that child marriage and the sexualization of children are taken for granted in wide swaths of the Islamic world.

“The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death)” (Bukhari 7.62.88).

Another tradition has Aisha herself recount the scene:

The Prophet engaged me when I was a girl of six (years). We went to Medina and stayed at the home of Bani-al-Harith bin Khazraj. Then I got ill and my hair fell down. Later on my hair grew (again) and my mother, Um Ruman, came to me while I was playing in a swing with some of my girl friends. She called me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted to do to me. She caught me by the hand and made me stand at the door of the house. I was breathless then, and when my breathing became all right, she took some water and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, “Best wishes and Allah’s Blessing and a good luck.” Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah’s Apostle came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age. (Bukhari 5.58.234).

The fact that two key ministers, Tony Burke and Jason Clare, will face Muslim candidates running on pro-Palestinian platforms at the next federal election should be welcomed, as it provides an opportunity for their community to engage in the nation’s political process. It will also highlight for the rest of Australia the dangerous waters into which the country is sailing as sectarian political parties emerge while confidence in the mainstream parties continues its radical decline.

Australia will be able to make up its mind about what sort of future: a thriving liberal democracy or some sort of stifling, hybrid theocratic-socialist dystopia.

Australia has not yet gone very far down the path followed by Britain and France, but under this ALP federal government we are not far behind. To understand how Australia could slide into a theocratic-socialist dystopia, people need to recognize only one thing: key élites of Western countries would sell them out in a heartbeat. While Israel has remained silent on the matter, this feat is widely ascribed to the Mossad. Iran has threatened a terrible revenge, but it may be trying to find an excuse not to follow through, because Tehran understands that any attack on Israel would provoke a devastating counterattack, almost certainly including the destruction of Kharg Island’s oil terminals, through which 90% of Iran’s oil exports flow, bringing Iran’s economy, already suffering, to its knees. Iran has said that if a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza can be established, it will no longer feel compelled to attack Israel. Despite the braggadocio of its leaders, Iran knows that in any major conflict with Israel, it will lose, and disastrously. The likely damage to its economy would push the Iranians into even deeper distress, perhaps leading to an uprising against the regime that has ever since 1979 has brought them a world of woe.
