Protesters gathered as the barge docked at the quayside in Portland, where it is due to house migrants
The Bibby Stockholm migrant barge has arrived at Dorset port where it will house 500 asylum seekers after more than a month of delays.
It was pulled by a tug into Dorset’s Portland Port on Tuesday morning, with plans to use it to house migrants under Rish Sunak’s bid to “stop the boats” crossing the Channel behind schedule.

The accommodation barge arrived after an eventful night which saw the Tory frontbench see off five further changes being sought by the unelected chamber to the Illegal Migration Bill, including modern slavery protections and child protections.
House Republicans on July 14 advanced a bill that would slash $1 billion from the budget of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) over previous levels amid ongoing concerns with the agency’s conduct.
The bill comprises a $400 million salary cut… and prohibits the FBI and others from using funding to “conduct any diversity, equity, inclusion, or explicit bias training.”
The appropriations bill, which was passed through the House Committee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies in a party-line vote, would reduce the agency’s funding from the $11.3 billion it received this financial year to $10.3 billion (pdf). The reduction would return the agency’s funding to roughly 2022 levels.
The roughly 9 percent cut comprises a $400 million salary cut for the FBI over previous levels.
It comes amid a series of frustrations with the agency, which Republican lawmakers say has been weaponized against conservatives as they seek to address several key concerns.
The bill prohibits the FBI and others from using funding to “conduct any diversity, equity, inclusion, or explicit bias training.”
That provision comes after Republicans in the House passed a similar amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), barring the Department of Defense from promoting similar concepts.

When pressed about the ending of the cocaine ‘investigation’, John Kirby, the coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council claimed that the Secret Service “did the best they could to track down how it got there and who it might have belonged to and they just were not able to come up with any forensic evidence that proves it.”
Following the announcement that the Secret Service has shut down the investigation into the cocaine found inside the White House without finding a culprit, Senator Tom Cotton said Sunday that they didn’t even talk to Hunter Biden about the matter.

Abbe Lowell, one of Hunter Biden’s many expensive lawyers, told ABC News that Trump’s rhetoric on social media “could lead to [Hunter Biden’s] or his family’s injury.”

“I take this very seriously. I mean, what if this was anthrax?” Cotton continued, adding “This is supposed to be the most secure building in the world. Yet the Secret Service closed down this investigation after just a few days.”
“It’s my understanding, they barely conducted in any interviews. I don’t think they interviewed the president’s son, who’s a known cocaine addict,” the Senator urged.
“This is like if Hamburglar lived in the White House, all the hamburgers disappeared, and they said they didn’t have any suspects or know one they could question,” an exasperated Cotton added.
“They know who went through those doors, so they can interview them as well. If the president were really serious about it, he could demand everybody that goes through those doors, submit to a drug test,” Cotton noted.
He continued, “You can use hair testing samples and identify anyone who’s used cocaine in the last few months. Those are the steps you would take if you took this seriously. This just seems like another Biden cover up.”
