Meta CEO Zuckerberg is continuing to market his new text-based app Threads with the pitch that he is “definitely focusing on kindness and making this a friendly place.”
This has been picked up by an eager media as a “Twitter killer” that where “Friendly Threads Collides with an Unfriendly Internet.”
Of course, there is a very simple way for Zuckerberg to show that he is committed to free speech: He can release the Facebook Files…
However, what is not discussed is what makes Threads “friendly.”
Zuckerberg appears to be promising the friendly confines of a censored site. Likewise, Instagram head Adam Mosseri says that politics and hard news are not worth the “incremental engagement or revenue.” It is all part of Threads’s promise for a “sane” and “kind” alternative to Twitter where greater free speech is now allowed to run rampant. It is precisely what Facebook tried to sell years ago in a pro-censorship commercial campaign.

Michael Shellenberger gave a must-watch keynote address to the students and faculty of the University of Austin this week, titled “Escape The Woke Matrix.
In it, he argues that Western civilization is being rapidly taken over by a psychopathological religion, and that we must resist it by exposing it for what it is, and re-grounding our institutions in love of humanity, civilization, and freedom.
Shellenberger’s work covers a wide range of topics, but a common theme is the distortion of history and censorship benefiting the powerful.
In this emotional address, Shellenberger discusses the negative effects of censorship, rewriting history, and the power dynamics it serves.
He highlights disparities between the real-world and the one we are delivered by authorities and ‘experts – pointing out the decline in deaths from natural disasters and the fact that police killings in the US, including those of African-Americans, have declined over the years – among others, emphasizing the need for seeking out accurate information.
Shellenberger criticizes the selective disinformation campaigns and censorship surrounding topics like COVID-19, vaccines, and the Hunter Biden laptop; and argues that society is moving towards a new moral order centered around race, victimhood, and identity politics, creating a culture of entitlement and grandiosity.
Finally, Shellenberger points out the presence of narcissistic and psychopathic behavior in positions of power, calling for courage in confronting these cluster B personality types and emphasizes personal responsibility, optimism, and the need to fight for positive change while avoiding toxic ideologies.
As Shellenberger writes at his Public Substack:

PARIS, July 8 (Al Reuters) – Hundreds of protesters defied a ban on Saturday to march in central Paris against police violence, a week after riots sparked by the “killing of a teenager” in a Parisian suburb.
The “teenager” was a career criminal with a long rap sheet.
Police dispersed the crowd from Paris’s huge Place de la Republique, sending several hundred people towards the wide Boulevard Magenta, where they were seen marching peacefully. Two people were arrested, Paris police said after the demonstration.

In France, Arab and Africans are currently engaged in a race war against the French people.
The looting is out of control. They are stealing busses, cars, trucks and emergency vehicles and burning them, and using them to do smash and grabs. They are using fireworks as artillery, they are stealing automatic weapons. They are burning down supermarkets and libraries.

Arabs and Africans are taking over large swathes of French suburbs. Nobody knows how many people they have killed because it is too dangerous for journalists to find out. Even if they did they wouldn’t tell us the truth because they are trying to present this as a mostly peaceful protest against the killing of the French George Floyd.
Therefore, the current race riots in France are not over the raising of the pension age. The current race riots were initiated by the American government to punish the French government for being insufficiently enthusiastic about its involvement in World War III.
There were French riots over the raising of the pension age, earlier this year. In the fourth paragraph of its article, the ABC does acknowledge this:
Since Saturday, Australians have been required to wait until the age of 67 until they can get the age pension.
The original so-called “retirement age” of 65 for men dated back to 1909.
Women had their pension age lifted from 60 to 65 between 1995 and 2013. And all Australians have had it lifted in stages from July 2017, in a process that ended on July 1, 2023.
It has happened with little protest — a stark contrast to the demonstrations and riots that rocked France earlier this year, when President Macron proposed and passed laws to lift the French pension age from 62 to 64.
The ABC has done this deliberately, so that when ordinary people question why it has produced a headline asking “why are the French so upset?” they can bleat that they made the context clear in the body of the article. However I refer again to the axiom:

What Came Before Nationalism

France’s worst riots since at least 2005 generated a lot of discussion about the difference between citizenship and nationality, in the ethnic sense, as the rioters were primarily of North African ancestry. Our friend Eugyppius, the pseudonymous German academic who became prominent with his criticism of COVID tyranny, made an important point though: it took a lot of work to make the various regional ethnicities that comprised what is now France to all think of themselves as French rather than as Normans, Bretons, etc.; the same is true of European states such as Germany and Italy.
