Police and emergency services were called to Lygon Street, Carlton, at on Wednesday night and found two men with serious injuries from being viciously attacked outside a restaurant.

A group of about seven men armed with machetes and knives fled the scene in cars, and the two wounded men, a 20-year-old from Heidelberg West and an 18-year-old from NSW, were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Washington State AG Warns Citizen Journalists To Stop Investigating Somali Daycares Or Face Potential Hate Crime Charges

The Washington state attorney general released a statement on X Tuesday evening warning independent journalists to stop investigating fraudulent Somali daycare centers or they could be charged with a hate crime.

“My office has received outreach from members of the Somali community after reports of home-based daycare providers being harassed and accused of fraud with little to no fact-checking,” State AG Nick Brown stated.

“We are in touch with the state Department of Children, Youth, and Families regarding the claims being pushed online and the harassment reported by daycare providers. Showing up on someone’s porch, threatening, or harassing them isn’t an investigation. Neither is filming minors who may be in the home. This is unsafe and potentially dangerous behavior.”

Harmeet Dhillon, the Assistant Attorney General for Civil rights, issued a warning of her own in reaction to the Washington state AG’s post.

 Jewish leaders express disappointment after initial solidarity and sympathy to the Jewish community.

The Australian National Imams Council has called on the Albanese government to rescind its invitation for Israeli President Isaac Herzog to visit Australia, threatening to undermine the interfaith unity displayed after the Bondi Beach massacre.

Mr Herzog is scheduled to make a state visit to Australia early next year in solidarity with the victims of the December 14 terror attack that killed 15 people at a Hanukkah celebration, and to meet with the affected Jewish community.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese last week said he had requested Governor-General Sam Mostyn invite Mr Herzog to Australia.

“Head of state to head of state is the appropriate protocol for the President to visit Australia in early 2026 to honour and remember victims of the Bondi antisemitic terrorist attack and provide support for Jewish Australians,” he said.
