How to do the perfect crime in the Arab world

Women falling from balconies: the latest trend?

Unni Wikan, a Norwegian academic who has written a recent book on honour crimes titled In Honour of Fadime, has looked carefully at the Atroshi case. She said the horrors persisted.

“In Sweden there is a development now called balcony suicide,” she said, adding the deaths were really camouflaged honour killings. ”So many murders, so many girls who fall from the balcony, so many false suicides,” she said.

Inspector Algamo said her research into honour crimes had been difficult.
“There is huge pressure on girls to take their own lives. They don’t have the right to their own bodies, because their bodies are owned by the clan.”

Another honor killing

A Jordanian police official says a 24-year-old farmer has stabbed his sister to death with a dagger to cleanse the family’s honor. The official says the man turned himself in and confessed to killing his 27-year-old sister because he heard rumors she was dating a man.

What kind of a twisted society creates people who feel that a 27-year old woman must be killed for (rumors of) her dating a man???

Apparently, if you don’t like a woman in an Arab society – perhaps you feel that she didn’t properly smile at you at the corner grocery, or that she did smile at you too lasciviously – all you have to do is spread a rumor about her, and her family will kill her for you! It’s the perfect crime!

An Iranian judge told these two young Christian converts that
they would be executed for daring to leave the Religion of Peace.
They told him to get on with it.

Another honor killing:

“The hands of the religious police, as well as the brother’s hands, are stained with the blood of these innocent young women”

Yet another honor killing. “Arresting women for mingling with (unrelated males) should be stopped because it puts many Saudi women in danger and sometimes (costs) them their lives. This act has nothing to do with the religion of Islam or Saudi tradition.”

Maybe not, although Islamic law does forbid women to mingle with unrelated males. And as for the honor killing itself, it’s unmistakable. A manual of Islamic law certified by Al-Azhar as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy says that “retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right.” However, “not subject to retaliation” is “a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring’s offspring.” (‘Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2).

In other words, someone who kills his child incurs no legal penalty under Islamic law.

“Saudi Religious Police Blamed In ‘Honor’ Killing Of Sisters,” from AFP, July 10 (thanks to Pamela):

RIYADH (AFP)–A Saudi women’s group on Friday blamed the country’s religious police in the “honor” killing of two sisters shot dead by their own brother after they were arrested for mixing with unrelated men.The Society for Defending Women’s Rights in Saudi Arabia said the religious police put the sisters’ lives in danger when they arrested them and placed them in a Riyadh women’s shelter.

The two women, identified as Reem, 21, and Nouf, 19, were murdered after they left the shelter July 5.

The brother shot them in the presence of their father who, according to newspaper reports, quickly forgave the son because he was defending the family’s honor….

“The hands of the religious police, as well as the brother’s hands, are stained with the blood of these innocent young women,” the group said in a statement. “These women have not committed any crime to be killed in a such brutal way.”

Under Saudi Arabia’s Islamic sharia legal code, unrelated men and women are not allowed to be together, and the religious police actively enforce the rules by patrolling areas frequented by young people.

“Arresting women for mingling with (unrelated males) should be stopped because it puts many Saudi women in danger and sometimes (costs) them their lives,” the statement said.

“This act has nothing to do with the religion of Islam or Saudi tradition.”…

Too small? Click here This is a satirical website. None of what you read here has anything to do with Islam, because Islam is a Religion of Peace. Everybody knows that good Muslims never do the things they do, (because Allah does it for them, Quran 8:12) and we know that only our misperceptions, ignorance and stereotyping of Islam makes Muslims chop off heads, kill and rape women and children, bomb subways, buses, nightclubs and fly jets into buildings. If it wasn't for the media and da Jooozzz, we wouldn't even know its happening. We welcome open, honest, thoughtful, and vigorous discussion in the comments threads, so do yourself a favour and don't accuse us of being 'haters' because we are loving, tolerant people. Don't curse us, don't threaten us with death or hellfire, and don't accuse us of being "just like the terrorists" because we don't do to Muslims what they do to us or to themselves. Yes, we know that only idiots oppose Islam and sensible people submit, but  you should know that we are ignorant bigots, hypocrites and Islamophobes, and we prefer to remain that way... But since you are forcing yourselves (and your abhorrent belief-system on us) we will defend ourselves, because we must. Avoid tu quoque and ad hominem attacks. Don't bother with circular reasoning either, we been there, done it.  If you annoy us, you will be banned and your posts summarily deleted. Try to add to the discussion, don't try to sell snake oil, don't try to cover us with Islamic shrouds of kitman and taqiyya, don't bother with da'awa, (we've heard it before) don't spam us with long pieces of cut & paste, write in English, try to tell the truth, (we know that's hard for you because you are all pathological liars) but the truth will set you free, try it! One more thing: don't think you can post here under multiple monikers. You will quickly be disappeared! The same goes for trufers and conspiracy kooks: you get one chance, one time. Blow it out of your ass if you must; put your stupidity on display. But you won't be back, trust me on that. Take a deep breath before you post, try to make some sense, do not just vent, do not make a fool of yourself and if you prove us wrong you can earn 10 Islamic dollars for your piggy bank. Deal?

I think you’ll find that these women were born into Iran’s 200,000 strong Xtian community and were arrested for trying to convert some of the local Muzzis . No sympathy from me I’m afraid….

@ Atheist:

SO you’d have no sympathy towards muslims in Europe being kicked out or executed for trying to convert local Christians or atheists? Or are you like every other liberal, and this “no sympathy” vote is a one way street? You scream when muzz rights are violated, yet when the muzz violate every right in the book, it’s alright by you. You know, they’re only being themselves, let them!

I’ve never understood the twisted lefty anti-moralism!

The faith of Atheism is just as much a religion as Islam and with some similar traits – intolerance of anything related to Christianity being the central one.

atheist July 11, 2009 at 4:56 am

I don’t discriminate. I hate all religions equally. I’ve never been approached by a Muslim to convert but just today I’ve had a couple of Jehovas come door knocking. I didn’t know that Muslims were actively recruiting the local indigenous population in Europe. If that were the case I would be the first to protest.

You are well and truly a despicable creature, atheist.

The article said the two women went to jail for converting to Christianity, there is nothing in the article that says they were proselytizing. Even if they did, its not a crime.

So for you a voluntary conversion deserves a death-sentence? With the obligatory rape before being tortured and killed? Where do they breed lunatics like you?

atheist July 11, 2009 at 6:08 am

a bit of research and you’ll find that these women were jailed for proselytizing , not for apostacy as the article claims. They were born Xtians and raised Xtian ( believe it or not there are over 200 000 Xtians in Iran ). Have you ever been woken up by a Jehovah Witness at 9.00 am on a Saturday morning after a big night out ? Now, that should be a crime….

I think you’ve dug yourself a hole – better not to say any more .
Maybe you were being flippant in your original remarks .
You don’t really believe people should be killed for trying to convert others to their faith , do you ? I hope not .

The 27-year old dating a man – that’s another thing altogether -the depravity ! If she had carried on like this , by the time she was 73 , she might have been inviting unrelated men to her house to drink tea with her (remember the case in saudi – old woman sentenced to whipping and gaol ?)

Islam – stay from my door

kaw July 11, 2009 at 6:50 am

Atheist.
You should perhaps think before posting. The death penalty for asking people to consider another faith option!!!!! Typically muslim actually – since islam cant survive the competition. You are an atheist, these two women have another “faith” – none of these being the perversion of islam – and you have nothing to say about some perverted islamic freaks wishing to murder these people because they dare to believe in something different. Just remember the verse penned about the Nazis – first they came for the Jews, I did nothing because it didn’t concern me, then they came for the mentally ill, I said nothing because it didn’t concern me, then they came for the gays …… .then they came for me …

atheist July 11, 2009 at 7:10 am

persikas,kaw et al …

if the government of the UK, US or any other western society were to pass a law that called for the jailing of Muslims caught proselytizing would you support that law ?
You don’t have to answer but I would.

Why is it that atheists, pagans, and other dysfunctional idealogues who profess tolerance as their highest aim, continually attack their own society at every opportunity?
