In recent weeks, German and French politicians have denounced free speech, and especially the concept of “freedom of speech” as long envisioned in the libertarian tradition of natural rights.

Macron compared speaking freely as comparable to walking down the street assaulting other people.

A week earlier, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz declared,”Don’t anyone come to me with free speech!” He asserted we must “still be able to protect citizens from false information.”

Both were speaking on issues related to online speech through social media and similar platforms. Both see a grave danger to the ruling class posed by the ability of unvetted or anonymous users to post opinions freely.

Hundreds of Child Marriages Exposed in Germany: Girls as Young as 11 Married to Iraqi, Syrian, Afghan and Pakistani Men – Only 8 of 358 Cases Annulled

Hundreds of child marriages have been revealed in Germany, as new data indicates that girls as young as 11 are being married off to adult men.

Data revealed that since April 2012, officials in the German state of Baden-Württemberg recorded 358 marriages involving a child.

But in just eight of these cases were marriages formally annulled.

The data was revealed after local politicians from the hard-Right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party filed a parliamentary inquiry with the state government.

Among the most egregious marriages was the 2020 partnering of an 11-year-old Iraqi girl and a 17-year-old Iraqi teenager. It is unclear when or why this marriage was annulled.

In 2018, meanwhile, a 14-year-old Afghan girl was married to a 30-year-old Afghan man. This case also left questions as to when or why this marriage was annulled unanswered.

Since 2015, a total of 350 instances of child marriage were recorded. Many of those who were involved in these partnerships came from countries including Syria, Iraq and Pakistan. German media, notably Welt am Sonntag (with documents including complaint files, investigation records, and correspondence from his lawyers at Brockmeier, Faulhaber, Rudolph), reported that from around 2021—while he was CDU opposition leader—Merz filed or pursued hundreds of such complaints. But I also have to explain this to German taxpayers, and the very least you can do is involve the German defense industry in all procurement projects.”

Wadephul then said that “At the moment, we are not entirely satisfied with the number of orders we are receiving in Germany. Therefore, we have asked the Ukrainian government to review the situation and ensure that it improves.” For background, Germany and Ukraine agreed to jointly develop their deep-strike capabilities earlier this spring, which coincides with Germany’s rapid remilitarization to the tune of at least €800 billion. Angela Merkel has commented on the AfD’s big win in Saxony-Anhalt.

She says that her “heart is bleeding” and that the AfD is growing because there aren’t any “fact-based debates” in modern politics and that feelings now dominate instead.

She warned that the election in Saxony-Anhalt was “a turning point for Germany” and also stated that it was the progress of the Enlightenment that allowed humanity as a whole to agree on facts.

She argued that that if feelings are now allowed to take supremacy and facts are no longer valued as the most important thing, “that would be a step backward for civilization.”

She didn’t say anything about the ramifications her decision to open Europe’s borders in 2015 has had for European civilization…
