Indonesia University has published a study that describes Japan as Islamophobic.
The study was conducted with five Indonesian Muslim women who work in Japan in nursing, elderly care, and factories.
In the study, they complained that their Muslim identity has become weaker in Japan because they are not allowed to wear the hijab at work, and no separate room is provided for them to pray.
The researchers warned that if Japan needs workers, it will also have to pay attention to issues such as providing space for prayer and allowing the wearing of the hijab.
