Israel: Skunk Spray and Stink Bombs make debut

IDF personnel checks ID’s of young Pals…

Border Police have begun employing a new means of crowd control to disperse violent demonstrations against the security fence in Ni’lin.

The weapon, nicknamed “The Skunk,” is a foul-smelling liquid which is sprayed on the protesters, compelling them to leave the scene to escape the smell.

Security officials told Channel 10 that “The Skunk was developed as part of police’s efforts to develop non-lethal means and…avoid irreversible physical damage.” They added that it was less harmful than tear gas or rubber bullets.

Border Police forces used the new weapon during a demonstration on Friday. They said it proved effective and led the protesters to leave the area to shower and change their clothes.

Some demonstrators described the smell as similar to that of sewage, adding that it was hard to get rid of, even after a shower.

UK: Jihadists in prison threaten to behead prison officials

Perhaps this will move British officials to crack down on the Islamic activities of imprisoned jihadists. But, of course, perhaps not.

“Islamist threat to behead prison officer,” by Graham Tibbetts for the Telegraph, August 11 (thanks to JW):

Prison authorities have compiled an action plan for dealing with a kidnap plot involving radicalised Muslim convicts inside Britain’s jails. The dossier has been compiled in the past few months following rising tension in the prison system.

Philippines: MILF Jihadists want an Islamic state

MILF jihadists displace 130,000 in southern Philippines

The MILF wants to cancel elections — they want an Islamic state, and that’s all they will settle for. “Thousands flee fighting in southern Philippines,” from Reuters, August 11:

Fierce clashes between Muslim separatists and government troops have displaced nearly 130,000 people in the southern Philippines, officials said on Monday (local time), but the government has vowed to press on with today’s local election.

Al Jizz: pushing the illusion of a 'French' Islam

*  The French, once they wake up from this nightmare, will be horrified when they realize that their ‘French Islam’ is not (and cannot be) any other kind of Islam then what Islam is elsewhere in North Africa or in Arabia.   But Al Jizz is there to create the illusion…

The six million Muslims in France form Europe’s largest Islamic community and we explore the tensions between a people defined by their religious identity, and a fiercely secular state.
Set in Lyon, France’s second most populous city and filmed during Ramadan, this film explores the rivalry between the Grande Mosque, financed by Saudi Arabia, and a newly-opened local mosque which is the first to be funded only by French Muslims.
The funding of the new mosque represents an urge for independence from foreign influence, and a conscious attempt to create a French Islam; the French government supports the principle of a home-grown Islam. But what does this mean in practice?
The question is also pressing at the first Islamic school to gain a place in the state system, which we follow in its very first days. It has taken years of struggle against resistance from the city authorities to get this school open.
The organisers hope to have scores of such schools in France, but have to reconcile their aims with a society that demands public education free of religious influence. French Islam is at the epicentre of the debate about what Islam might become in the modern world.

*

Ask yourself how many mosques were in the West 20 years ago — if you could find one, it was odd.

Count how many mosques there are today and count the building permits for the new ones.

Count how many halal shopes are going up in urban areas today compared to how many there were a scant 10 years ago.

Just for kicks, go to the inner city Christian charity stores and food banks and look around.

Count the number of islamics in line getting the free goods that all those Christians with their silly smiles are handing out to them.

The muslim takers are much more affluent than the Christians volunteering their time and resources; you get a sense of that when you see the islamics load their free goods into newer mercedes while the Christian volunteers take public transportation,

You find lots of islamics in these Christian food pantries — but good luck trying to find any islamic food pantries.

These are statistics you can gather that will tell you what you might not want to know.

A Cumbersome Representative

* A nations ambassador has to represent his nations interest in the face of all odds, often in difficult circumstances. Lately, it seems the US has dispatched with this fundamental principle. When hiring adherents of the Muhammedan faith it should be clear that the loyalties of such people never lie with the infidel nation state, but always with their fellow Muslims. Here once again the particularly troubling case of Sada Cucumber, whom we already featured repeatedly:

Losing Our Soul to the Islamintern

Sada Cumber, Our Man at the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), believes, “oh my goodness, I think the Muslim values that they [the OIC] are aspiring here are exactly in sync’ with American values”…

According to this story (3/16/08), Sada Cumber, a Pakistani Muslim immigrant to Texas, and technology tycoon, now serving as the first US special envoy to the 57 Muslim nation Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), when interviewed at the OIC’s recent Dakar (Senegal) conference, opined, “…the way things are going on in this conference I can almost see the new leadership moving into moderation and that alone is very encouraging news.”

Willie Clitman's dirty war against the Serbs

Fitzgerald: The jihad in Serbia revisited

* some amazing insights in the  madness of US general Wesley Clark

The jihad in Serbia is one that is obscured in a particularly vexing way. Accordingly it must be emphasized that in alerting people to attacks on the Serbs, and to the destruction of ancient churches and monasteries, and on the infiltration into the area of Arabs bringing a brand of Islam quite different from the relaxed, syncretistic local version (not exactly full-bodied Islam in practice, because that local practice was affected by the centuries of proximity to non-Muslims, and to the effect of Communism), one is not endorsing any massacres by some Serbs. One can distance oneself — most Serbs do, unfeignedly — from Milosevic and those atrocities that were committed by some Serb forces.

* Link to JW

One must keep in mind both the way in which some atrocities ascribed to Serbs were exaggerated, while the atrocities inflicted on them were minimized or ignored altogether. The role played by Arabs who came from outside never received the attention in the West it deserved. But what was most disturbing was that there was no context to anything: nothing about the centuries of Muslim rule, the ferocity of that Turkish rule, evoked in summary fashion by memories of the feared devshirme (which was not, as Bernard Lewis would have it, a kind of benign “recruitment” of Christian and in some cases Jewish children for the armies of the Sultan, but rather a forced levy of such children, snatched from their families to enter the armies of the Sultan).

Had such a history been discussed early on, Western governments might have understood and attempted to assuage the deep fears evoked by the Bosnian Muslim leader, Izetbegovic, when he wrote that he intended to create a Muslim state in Bosnia and impose the Sharia not merely there, but everywhere that Muslims had once ruled in the Balkans. Had the Western world shown the slightest intelligent sympathy or understanding of what that set off in the imagination of many Serbs (and elsewhere, among the Christians in the Balkans and in Greece), there might never have been such a violent Serbian reaction, and someone like Milosevic might never have obtained power.

Izetbegovic had openly demanded that Islam become the ruling force in Bosnia. His remarks on the need to reimpose the Sharia and impose full Muslim rule did send shivers down Serbian spines.

WIFE OF PAKISTANI NUCLEAR SCIENTIST A.Q. KHAN TALKS

Musharraf ‘Lied’ about Husband’s Role in Atomic Bomb

In an account to be published in SPIEGEL on Monday, the wife of Pakistan’s A.Q. Khan — the man accused of running a global nuclear weapons bazaar — alleges that Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf lied about her husband’s role in the country’s nuclear program. She says her husband was pressured to make a false confession and that he only carried out government orders.

The wife of Pakistani nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan (pictured above) claims her husband acted on government instructions.

The wife of Pakistani nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan (pictured above) claims her husband acted on government instructions.

In an account given to SPIEGEL, the wife of Pakistani nuclear scientist Abdul Qadir Khan lodges serious accusations against President Pervez Musharraf. She claims her husband, currently under house arrest, was not a nuclear dealer, and that he only ever “executed the instructions he was given” by the government. A trip to North Korea, she alleges, was carried out “at the specific request” of Musharraf.

In his 2006 memoir, “In the Line of Fire,” Musharraf claimed “with confidence” that neither he nor his government nor any member of Pakistan’s Army had any prior knowledge of A.Q. Khan’s alleged nuclear network. “On the basis of the thorough probe that we conducted in 2003-2004,” Musharraf wrote, “I can say with confidence that neither the Pakistan Army nor any of the past governments of Pakistan was ever involved or had any knowledge of A.Q.’s proliferation activities. The show was completely A.Q.’s.”

A.Q. Khan remains under house arrest and under a gag order today. But in a personal account to be published in English on SPIEGEL ONLINE on Monday, his wife Hendrina Khan — who had intimate knowledge of her husband’s work from Day One and still lives with him today — will tell her side of the story.

Today, Hendrina Khan argues, “it is too late for (the concerned government and Musharraf) to ‘confess’. The consequences for the country would be too drastic … especially from the Americans who have been supporting Musharraf through thick and thin,” said the wife of A.Q. Khan, the so-called “father of the Pakistan’s nuclear bomb” who was fired with dishonor in 2004. She also claims that her husband’s health is deteriorating, and that she fears the government will continue to “prevent the truth from coming out” until the day he dies.

On Monday, the democratically elected government of Pakistan is set to request impeachment proceedings against Musharraf for allegedly mismanaging the country.

Envoys trade hugs and kisses at U.N Post Chronicle

Ambassadors from the United States and Libya exchanged hugs and kisses at the U.N. Security Council on Thursday in an unusual public display of affection between former arch enemies.

U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad and his Libyan counterpart Giadalla Ettalhi embraced after a meeting of the council on Iraq.

A reporter asked Khalilzad if the show of affection meant that good relations between the two countries had reached a new high.

Washington’s Afghan-born envoy said his Libyan colleague had just returned from a long absence and his son had gotten married. Khalilzad said it was a tradition to congratulate the groom’s father and ask him if his pockets are empty.

“Because unlike in the United States, in the Middle East it is the groom’s side that pays for all the expenses of thewedding,” Khalilzad said.

[…]

Earlier this year in a speech to the council, another Libyan envoy compared the situation in the Gaza Strip to the Nazi Holocaust, prompting Khalilzad’s deputy and other Western envoys to walk out of the council chamber in protest.
