Strict or lax, partial or comprehensive, the implementation of any Sharia is a slippery slope leading to still more of it. Islamic piety becomes a political bargaining chip, and any alleged lack of it becomes a liability that can destabilize a state: Supremacist, theocratic systems do not lend themselves to compartmentalization, and after all, the aim of jihad itself is to impose Islamic law. As such, any Sharia sets a precedent for a steady creep of more of it, as has been seen in Britain. For that matter, we have also seen in Britain that even supposedly “mild” Sharia poses problems with respect to equal treatment under the law, due to Sharia’s inherent defects in that regard.
Transfer that situation to Bosnia, with its history and its own supply of resident jihadists, and the potential for disaster multiplies exponentially.

Mustafa Ceric’s duplicity is well documented: while complaining that nobody trusts him because he is a Muslim, he is a die-hard jihadist who talks out of both sides of his mouth, just like Arafat did. What’s puzzling me is why such a creature is still taken seriously in the West.
Ceric made the controversial suggestion when he conducted Bosnia’s first Sharia mass wedding on Saturday in the central city of Zenica. Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi reportedly paid for the weddings for the 20 couples and some 500 guests.
“In this exceptional place, in the exceptional city of Zenica, we are witnessing a magnificent event,” Ceric said. “I hope this is only the beginning and that we will have many such occasions in the years to come,” he added.
Ceric is no stranger to controversy, and his pronouncements often trigger a heated reaction.
In May, while visiting a Muslim community in Serbia’s Muslim-majority Sandzak region bordering Montenegro, Ceric said “no force could separate” Muslims in Serbia from those in Bosnia, which he has described as a homeland for Muslims.

Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik reacted angrily to Ceric’s remarks, saying he was deliberately ignoring the presence of Serbs and Croats in Muslim-majority Bosnia.
Serbs are mainly Orthdox while Croats are Catholic Christians.
Ceric’s pronouncement concealed a Muslim drive to dominate the whole country, Dodik claimed.
Ceric’s statements drew sharp criticism from moderate Muslims.
One commentator on the daily 24 hours website wrote: “Nothing else could be expected from Ceric.” Â He is known for glorifying the Ottoman invaders who ruled the Balkans for six centuries, converting local population to Islam.
During 50 years of Communist rule, Bosnian Muslims practised a moderate form of Islam, or declared themselves atheists.
But radical forms of Islam began to take root in the country after thousands of fighters from Muslim countries, especially North Africa, arrived to fight on the side of local Muslims in the 1992-1995 civil war.

Can you imagine if we had the stations of the cross put on the walls of all of our Embassies, Consulates, and other posts, as well as the many DOS buildings across the country, including C street?
Can you imagine if the Buddha were revered and we had some monks coming to do a meditation session with all of the officers of each Embassy, consulate, etc.?
Why aren’t priests, pastors, etc. invited during Christmas to bless or talk about Christianity in the US?
Can we get printed and distributed Hare Krishna posters for all of our posts and reach massive audiences?

Is Europe about to be overrun by Muslims? A number of prominent European and American politicians and journalists seem to think so.
The historian Niall Ferguson has predicted that “a youthful Muslim society to the south and east of the Mediterranean is poised to colonise – the term is not too strong – a senescent Europe”. And according to Christopher Caldwell, an American columnist with the Financial Times, whom the Observer recently described as a “bracing, clear-eyed analyst of European pieties”, Muslims are already “conquering Europe’s cities, street by street”. So what if Muslims account for only 3% to 4% of the EU’s total population of 493 million? In his book Reflections on the Revolution in Europe: Can Europe Be the Same With Different People in It? – which was featured on Start the Week, excerpted in Prospect, commended as “morally serious” by the New York Times and has beguiled some liberal opinion-makers as well as rightwing blowhards – Caldwell writes: “Of course minorities can shape countries. They can conquer countries. There were probably fewer Bolsheviks in Russia in 1917 than there are Islamists in Europe today.”
The defence lawyer for two Europeans who are accused of kissing in public and consuming alcohol told the court yesterday that his clients are not bound by the Sharia law that prohibits both offences.

IK, a Russian woman, is charged with consensual dishonour and pleaded guilty to kissing, at the first hearing last week at the Criminal Court of First Instance. The man she is accused of kissing, ZV, is facing adultery charges.
The two are among five people who are before the court facing charges of adultery, consumption of alcohol and drugs. The three men and two women have been denied bail and are awaiting a verdict in their case. It is not known how the five know one another.
IK told the court last week that the kiss was a “normal greeting kiss”, but the judge responded by saying: “Maybe it’s normal in Russia.”

It’s ironic that Bassiouni accuses me of incitement, and yet it is his invective-laden rhetoric that is echoed by a murderous thug, who obviously finds it simpatico.

He does, after all, acknowledge that for more than a millennium, the four schools of Sunni jurisprudence have recognized that death is a suitable punishment for apostasy — from Islam, bien entendu, the Only True Religion.
Apostates from other faiths, to Islam, have been encouraged, not least by the constant threat of death. See K. S. This took place after the Arabs invaded, bringing or rather imposing “the gift of Islam” (as Azar Nafisi ironically puts it in some of her public readings and talks).
But M. Cherif Bassiouni, Distinguished Research Professor of Law Emeritus and President Emeritus, International Human Rights Law Institute, DePaul University, is illogical in pretending that his own personal opposition to death for apostates from Islam somehow modifies or weakens the fact that Islam itself teaches and inculcates (for the teaching is not so much teaching as repeated, and quite effective, brainwashing, from cradle to grave) the notion that those who leave Islam, and especially those who do not leave quietly but openly give voice to their apostasy, are to be treated as traitors, as defectors from the Army of Islam.

Within the past few decades, mosques have increasingly dotted the landscapes of American and European cities and towns, with mega mosques often overshadowing adjacent, centuries-old churches in predominantly Christian regions. Islamic schools or academies and a host of Muslim organizations have become omnipresent across the West.
Meanwhile, Americans and Europeans have made countless accommodations to Muslim demands. They have included footbaths; high-decibel, five-times-daily calls to prayer; segregated male-female gym and swimming pool hours; halal food; workplace dispensations for handling pork products and for female head and face coverings; and special, public prayer rooms. Also, shari’ah-compliant financial transactions, the expunging of offensive likenesses of Mohammed or imagined depictions of Arabic characters that connote “Allah,” official swearings-in on Korans in place of customary Bibles, the neutralizing of official descriptive language about Islamists and the jihad, the revision of so-called offensive content in movies and television programs, the removal of representations of pigs from the public sphere, and many other acculturations to Muslim entreaties have all been made in the service of respecting Muslim religious beliefs and practices.
To those in Western democracies, these accommodating actions appear, on the surface, to be little more than harmless civil gestures, respecting the needs of a growing religion in their midst and welcoming a new addition to their proud, multicultural tradition. Many Westerners pat themselves on the back for their liberal bent, their tolerance and their open-mindedness.

DIVISIONS within the Palestinian side of politics reached crisis point yesterday after 24 people were killed and more than 100 wounded in a seven-hour shoot-out in the Gaza Strip between Hamas and hardline Islamists linked to al-Qa’ida.
Security officers from Hamas, which runs Gaza, moved against Jund Ansar Allah – also known as Jihadi Soldiers of God, or Soldiers of the Partisans of God – after its leader Sheik Abdel-Latif Moussa, declared Gaza was “an Islamic emirate”.
Now, if Israel had attacked those jiahidsts… But when it’s Muslims yet again killing Muslims, it’s barely a story…
