“Bubbly Baby” thrown from bridge

EAST ORANGE — The mother of a 3-month-old girl allegedly thrown from the Garden State Parkway’s Driscoll Bridge by her father Tuesday night pleaded today for her daughter’s safe return.

State Police are continuing to search the river today for the infant. “She is a very bubbly baby,” Benjamin, of East Orange, said. “She’s an angel. She always laughs. She’d laugh at anything.”  Abdur-Raheem, 21, who does not have custody rights for his daughter, is accused of attacking the child’s grandmother at her East Orange apartment before fleeing with the girl.

Now here’s the money quote:

The suspect, Abdur-Raheem, was religious and said his prayers regularly.

Rageem  said that his son visited two mosques Tuesday evening before he was arrested.

Its a cultural thing,  you see?  Just like FGM, polygamy, child-marriage, wife beating, etc.  Who are we to judge, right?

I don’t think it’s possible for any objective observer to look at the UN and not be utterly revolted – not just at the posturing and corruption but at the amount of human wreckage it leaves in its wake. Here’s what I had to say in the Telegraph half-a-decade back:

It’s a good basic axiom that if you take a quart of ice-cream and a quart of dog feces and mix ’em together the result will taste more like the latter than the former. That’s the problem with the UN. If you make the free nations and the thug states members of the same club, the danger isn’t that they’ll meet each other half-way but that the free world winds up going three-quarters, seven-eighths of the way. Thus the Oil-for-Fraud scandal: in the end, Saddam Hussein had a much shrewder understanding of the way the UN works than Bush and Blair did.

Maybe the students were indeed taunting her by leaving the Bible and the card. Eighth graders can be like that, whatever the religion of the teacher may be. But when the teacher is Muslim, adolescent taunting becomes a “hate crime.”

What Islamic Civilization?

By the virtually unlimited oil revenue of most gulf countries would you not expect there to be at least 10 islamic countries in the top 30?

That’s even by THEIR own standards:

The Human Development Index (HDI) was developed by the Pakistani economist Mahbub ul Haq. It is a measure of poverty, literacy, education, life expectancy, childbirth, and other factors for countries worldwide & is a standard means of measuring well-being.
In the list of top thirty countries ranked on the basis of HDI, there is not a single Islamic country even though they control most of the world’s oil.
Is it because the blind faith does not allow for rational thinking which is a must for scientific progress?
Or because of a lack of freedom in Islamic societies (innovations & inventions thrive in free societies & free thought)
Or because of the intolerance practised in Islam – no tolerance for criticism or the other point of view, or the inability to accept that there is a problem. (To solve a problem the first step is to accept there is one!)   Literacy News
