Indonesia: Misunderstanders of Islam burn churches, attack court building

Because a Christian man got five years in prison for distributing pamphlets they considered insulting to Islam. They believed he should have gotten the death penalty. “Indonesia: Angry Muslim crowd attacks Java churches,” from the BBC, February 8 (thanks to JW):

More than 1,000 Muslim protesters have stormed a courthouse and burned two churches in central Java, Indonesia.

The attacks in Temanggung happened after a Christian man was sentenced to five years in jail for distributing leaflets deemed insulting to Islam.

Indonesian police said the crowd considered the sentence too lenient and were demanding the death penalty…….

When you call  a bunch of Mafiosi to testify as character witnesses for each other, chances are that they sound sound off like mother Theresa. When you call Muslims to testify against  other Muslims, chances are that they act just like the 3 monkeys.

King folds, won’t call Ayaan Hirsi Ali in “Muslim radicalization” hearings

Robert Spencer: when I wrote recently that King was caving to political correctness and Islamic supremacist intimidation and smear tactics, and that his hearings were shaping up to be useless, many people on the anti-jihad side told me that I was all wrong, for he was calling Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and she would tell the truth.

So what now? All that’s left is a man who, as the Times understatedly puts it, has “little following among Muslims,” the Islamic supremacist obstructionist group MPAC, and Congressman Keith Ellison (D-Muslim Brotherhood). If anything good comes out of these hearings now, it will be by accident.

Nevertheless, our politicians are willing to work with them. While Egypt was burning, the TSA was allowed to vote on being unionized. Why is this dangerous? When people can’t do their jobs, they need to be let go… but the unions make this infinitely more difficult. Look at teachers, for example. But it is much more dangerous to have the TSA unionized, as they could be all that stands between another Richard Reed and an airplane.

Like ordinary folks, presidents of the United States are known by the company they keep. It is a test of their character. Often it shapes their policies. And, in the case of Barack Obama, it may blight his legacy and our nation’s security interests.

Until now, one of the most egregious examples of the problem were the “Friends of Bill” who played prominent roles in William Jefferson Clinton’s presidency. Those folks included a mix of unsavory political operatives, Chinese agents and convicted felons. [Their overnight stays in the Lincoln bedroom, legally challenged fundraising and eleventh-hour pardons raised serious questions not just about President Clinton’s ethics, but his judgment.]

President Obama’s trusted circle has been, if anything, even more problematic. For example, Mr. Obama has consorted with people who are revolutionaries, communists, liberation theologians and Islamists. Some have even been appointed “czars” in his administration.

At the moment, though, we must be concerned not only with who Barack Obama considers his friends, but with those who deem him to be one of theirs: The record suggests he must be seen as a “Friend of Shariah.”

• In 2010-2011 the Australian Government plans to spend almost $4.4 billion on development assistance to under developed countries.

And now Gillard will give nearly another  $500 million for Indonesia’s Islamic schools which are largely moderate in outlook but there have been pockets of radicalism that have produced terrorists in Indonesia, most notably the cleric Abu Bakar Bashir’s school in Ngruki, central Java, where some of the Bali bombers studied.

(This is absolute BS, and Andrew Bolt should know it. ALL Islamic schools are radical, otherwise they wouldn’t be Islamic schools.)

Muslim Brotherhood: “The revolution will continue until our demands are met”

Sounds just like the “peace process” – half a century of Arab demands on Israel to  self-destruct without any intention to compromise on anything.

Netanyahu on Egypt: “In a situation of chaos, an organized Islamist body can seize control of a country. It happened in Iran.”

“Egyptians can choose a state with secular reforms. However, there is also another possibility that the Islamists will exploit the situation in order to gain governance over the country and lead it backward.” The Muslim Brotherhood is certainly trying its best to do just that in Egypt.
