BERLIN —

Germany is considering a request from Turkey to prosecute a TV comedian who wrote a crude poem about the Turkish president, Chancellor Angela Merkel’s spokesman said Monday.

The request poses an awkward choice for the German leader as she relies on Turkey to reduce the influx of migrants to Europe.

Turkey sent a diplomatic note making “a formal request for criminal prosecution” of comedian Jan Boehmermann, Merkel spokesman Steffen Seibert said.

Boehmermann read the poem on ZDF television two weeks ago to illustrate what he said wouldn’t be allowed in Germany, contrasting it with another channel’s satirical song that also poked fun at Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Germany’s ambassador was summoned to the foreign ministry in Ankara last month to hear a protest over that song.

Mainz prosecutors told the dpa news agency late Monday that Erdogan had also filed his own complaint accusing Boehmermann of slander, adding that it would be considered as part of the ongoing investigation.

While the German government defended the song as legitimate free speech, it has strongly distanced itself from the poem. Seibert has said that Merkel and Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu agreed the poem was “deliberately offensive.”

Germany’s criminal code provides for up to three years in prison or a fine for insulting a foreign head of state. However, it stipulates that such offenses are only prosecuted if the country in question seeks prosecution and the German government allows it.

Seibert told reporters Monday that officials would take several days to decide whether to allow prosecutors to proceed in the case, but stressed that Merkel holds free speech in high regard. It is “negotiable neither at home nor abroad,” he said.

German officials have appeared at pains to avoid causing further friction with Erdogan, steering clear of direct criticism of the president in recent weeks amid Turkey’s sharp response to German satire. Merkel championed the European Union-Turkey deal for Ankara to take back migrants who travel illegally to Greece.

Seibert said he was stressing Merkel’s dedication to free speech “to counter the impression that the freedom of opinion and art … no longer has the necessary high value for the chancellor just because she, along with other Europeans, wants to resolve the refugee question in partnership with Turkey.”

In Turkey, Erdogan spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said that “this kind of attack, including insults and rude statements to a country’s president and also targeting a society, has nothing to do with freedom of expression or with press freedom.”

“It is an insult everywhere in the world, and it is a crime,” he said, adding that “those who publish this kind of ugliness … apparently are annoyed with improved relations” between Germany and Turkey.

A senior German opposition lawmaker called on Merkel to reject the Turkish call for Boehmermann’s prosecution.

Left Party parliamentary caucus leader Sahra Wagenknecht noted that in Turkey, more than 1,800 cases have been opened against people accused of insulting Erdogan since he came to office.

“If Merkel caves in in the Boehmermann case, he will be able to strike at will in Germany as well in the future,” she said.

  • Turkish government  furious about comedian’s boundary-pushing jokes
  • He could be prosecuted for insulting a foreign head of state
  • Last month Turkey complained about a satirical song about Erdogan on TV

In the poem Böhmermann also joked that Erdogan was ‘watching child porn while kicking Kurds’.

France: secularism is being forced into retreat….

(h/t Rev Dr Mark Durie)
Hebdo

This is the editorial that was published in ‘Charlie Hebdo’ on 30 March 2016, just eight days after the jihadist ghazi raid in Brussels that murdered 32 people and gravely wounded more than 300 others.  It is worth noting that it takes aim specifically at none other than Frere Tariq.

“How Did We End Up Here?”

‘For a week now, experts of all kinds have been trying to understand the reasons for the attacks in Brussels.

‘An incompetent police force?

‘Unbridled multiculturalism?

‘Youth unemployment?

‘Uninhibited Islamism?

‘The causes are numerous beyond counting, and everyone will naturally choose the one that suits best their own convictions.

‘Law and order fans will denounce the haplessness of the police.

‘Xenophobes will blame immigration.

Partly correct.  It’s not immigration as such that prepared the way for all those dead bodies in the airport in Brussels – and before that, in the Charlie Hebdo office, and the kosher supermarket, in Paris.  It’s Muslim immigration.  Got Muslims? – Got Jihad. – CM

‘Sociologists will rehash the evils of colonialism.

‘Urban-planners iwll point to the evils of ghettoisation.  Take your pick.

‘In reality the attacks are merely the visible part of a very large iceberg indeed.

And now we proceed to get down to tin tacks. – CM

‘They are the last phase of a process of cowing and silencing long in motion and on the widest possible scale.

Yes.  A process by which non-Muslims in western Europe – and many other places, too – have been and are still being ‘groomed’ for either Dhimmitude or, worse, conversion to Islam.  Submission. – CM

‘Our noses are endlessly rubbed in the rubble of Brussels airport and in the flickering candles amongst the bouquets of flowers on the pavements.

‘All the while, no-one notices what’s going on in St-Germain-en-Laye.

Last week, Sciences-Po welcomed Tariq Ramadan.  He’s a teacher, so it’s not inappropriate.  He came to speak of his specialist subject, Islam, which is also his religion.

‘Rather like a lecture by a Professor of Pies who is also a pie-maker.

‘Thus judge and contestant both.

Use of tear gas, rubber bullets condemned by Greek authorities

Around 300 people were injured Sunday when Macedonian police used tear gas, rubber bullets and stun grenades on refugees as they tried to break through the border fence with Greece, local media reported.

The violence was condemned by the Greek Refugee Coordination Crisis Management Body.

“The use of tear gas, rubber bullets and stun grenades from FYROM [Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia] forces against vulnerable populations, and even without force majeure, is a dangerous and reprehensible practice,” spokesman Giorgos Kyritsis said in a statement to ANA-MPA.

“We urge the FYROM authorities to understand the potential risks from the use of violence against refugees and migrants.”

The Greek Foreign Ministry said it had protested to Macedonia. The Greek ambassador to Skopje, Theoharis Lalakos, called on the Macedonian authorities “to rise to the occasion and exhibit the proper responsibility, self-restraint and seriousness”.

The violence began after a group of five refugees approached the frontier to speak to Macedonian police.

Around 500 people later gathered outside the refugee camp at Idomeni and approached the border, which is protected by a fence and barbed wire.

A spokesman for Doctors without Borders told ANA-MPA that 200 people were treated for breathing problems, 34 for open wounds and 30 for injuries caused by rubber bullets. The group said seven people were hospitalized.

More than 11,000 refugees are at Idomeni, hoping to make their way to northern Europe despite the closed border.

UK: The Political Class Is Deceiving The People

Elite political class has LIED to us about immigration

says LEO MCKINSTRY

Just as the ruling metropolitan elitists want to destroy our national independence through subjugation to the EU so they seek to obliterate our national identity through mass immigration and multiculturalism.

Slowly, the truth is seeping through:

Tony Bliar was a dangerous ideologue obsessed with the destruction of British heritage. No modern British prime minister has ever inflicted such irreversible damage on our society as Blair.

UK border
GETTYDavid Cameron has failed to protect the integrity of our country
The latest figures show how far they have succeeded in this gigantic social engineering project. The foreign influx is still running at a phenomenal level, with no fewer than 617,000 immigrants having settled here in the year to September 2015.
According to the Office of National Statistics there are now 8.2million people living in Britain who were born abroad, accounting for 13 per cent of the entire population. Due to uncontrolled immigration, large parts of our country have been utterly transformed during the past decade.

North-west Leicestershire, for instance, saw a 700 per cent increase in its foreign-born population over that period. It is not surprising that many British citizens now feel like aliens in their own land.

The Canard of Islamophobia

By Tom Jay

cair_Nihad Awad_executive director

After the bombings in Brussels and Lahore, brief, perfunctory comments of sympathy were made, and then non-Muslims were ordered to be nice to Muslims. Muslims are now what Stephen Krason has called a “favored group.” How did this happen?

In 2004, then UN Secretary General Kofi Annan made the grave diagnosis that the West is afflicted with Islamophobia. Annan soberly explained that “the weight of history and the fallout of recent developments have left many Muslims around the world feeling aggravated and misunderstood, concerned about the erosion of their rights and even fearing for their physical safety.” His remarks, astonishingly, suggested that Muslims were the real victims of 9/11. Anan went on to describe the growing concern among non-Muslims that Islam carries within it a strain of anti-Western ideology as a “caricature.” Christine Fair, Associate Professor at the Center for Peace and Security Studies at Georgetown University, almost explicitly blamed Belgium for the two attacks in Brussels on NPR, saying that Belgium should expect such attacks given its lax gun laws and an anti-Islamic bias which prevents assimilation. This, of course, is the result of Belgian Islamophobia.

Nagorno Karabakh: just another jihad for Christian land

But don’t wait for Newsweek to tell you. Strangely, the commenters seem to be better informed than the writer, here: WHAT’S BEHIND THE BIGGEST FLARE UP IN 20 YEARS IN KARABAKH?

And don’t wait for the extreme left Guardian’s spin on this:

Rights and wrongs in Nagorno-Karabakh

The Guardian tells us  what’s “in our best interests”

It is therefore in the best interests of both Europe and the wider international community to put pressure on Armenia to withdraw its armed forces from the territories of Azerbaijan, getting us closer to the eventual long overdue peace.–Tahir Taghizadeh
Azerbaijan ambassador, London

Here, some flashback:

In early June 1992 the number of Chechen mercenaries in Karabakh
totaled approximately 300. They had been recruited on the basis of a military agreement signed between Azeri and Chechen authorities
regarding the supply of human resources from Chechnya in exchange for military supply from Azerbaijan. After heavy losses Chechen fighters left Karabakh battlefields, partially in connection with Inter-Chechen and Chechen-Russian problems.

Following the defeats suffered by the Azerbaijani army at the Karabakh  frontline in mid 1993, Baku turned to the Afghan authorities for the supply of Mujaheddins to fight against the Armenian self-defence force of Nagorno-Karabakh.

American journalist Thomas Golz, while describing how US citizens, who were involved in the Iran-Contra affair whilst serving in the US Special Forces, brought mujaheddins to Azerbaijan while also training Azeri pilots in Texas for this mission.

Yes, its also about oil, pipelines, drugs, weapons, bin Laden, al Qaeda and  American finances that fuel this jihad. Its all connected and rather opaque.

The following case study on the Mujahedin who fought in Nagorno-Karabakh sheds light on several subsequent events linked to the Jihad.

Participants in the conflict  warned of the danger of turning a communal strife and ethnic conflict into a religious issue. Robert Kocharian, the then head of the State Committee on Defence of Nagorno-Karabakh stated his concerns in 1993: ‘The Azeris want to turn this war into a religious one, which we haven’t accepted from the beginning and which we won’t accept’.[6] Though Kocharian’s statement on Azeri motives must be viewed with some scepticism, it nevertheless illustrates the lesser role of religion in this context.

Many atrocities were committed during the conflict, including decapitations and the ritual mutilation of civilians.  Eyewitness reports have confirmed that villagers had had their heads sawn off by advancing Azeri troops.

Philippines: Abu Sayyaf Jihadists Murder 18 Soldiers

Al BeBeeCeera reports:

Philippines: 18 soldiers dead in clashes with Abu Sayyaf militants

Al Jizz would like you to know that Abu Sayyaf is basically no more than a social network and that only recently they resorted to criminal activities like kidnapping. They are obliged to lie for the cause.

The Philippines military says 18 soldiers have been killed in fierce fighting with Islamist militants in the south of the country.

It says more than 50 other soldiers were wounded on Saturday during the clashes with members of the Abu Sayyaf group on Basilan island.

Five militants including a Moroccan national were killed, the army said.

A Moroccan? Why would a Moroccan end up in the Philippines fighting jihad against unbelievers?

The army was reportedly targeting an Abu Sayyaf commander who has pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group.

The US government has offered a reward of up to $5m (£3.5m) for information leading to the capture of Isnilon Hapilon.

AEI: Elites Need to Talk to Populist, Nationalist in ‘Respectful.. Understandable’ Way

I beg to differ.

The Elites need to stop the genocide of their own people! There is no such thing as “Islamisme radical”. Islamisme radical is saying that only parts of the religion is radical, as in ‘radical Islam’ as opposed to not radical Islam.

ALL Islam is radical. ‘Radical Islam’ is simply those already acting on their religion’s beliefs.

Leon Aron writes at the American Enterprise Institute:

From Alabama to Denmark, Nevada to the Netherlands, and from Arizona to Sweden and Germany, Hungary and Poland, voters are flocking to right/left populist, nationalist, isolationist, and nativist demagogues, parties, and movements.

The trend sweeping Europe and the United States is broader and deeper than politics. The attraction of these suddenly popular phenomena appear to stem in a larger measure from an enormous gap between the beliefs of the “post-modern” and largely post-Christian Western elites (political, media, cultural, academic), on the one hand, and their countries’ hoi polloi on the other.

This chasm is not merely ideological. It is ethical, linguistic — almost anthropological.

For the elites, nothing, or almost nothing, is “written in stone.” Everything is fluid, situational, pragmatically determined. As the founder of existentialism, Jean-Paul Sartre put it, “existence precedes essence.” With “God dead,” as Nietzsche famously proclaimed, ethical absolutes are no more. Values are a matter of personal choice — and one is just as good as another. Nothing and no one is better or worse. Just “different.” There is no “truth” but multiple “truths.” And, following another postulate of post-modernism articulated by Nietzsche, “there are no facts, only interpretations.” Hence the on-the-one-hand-on-the-other-hand approach of elite media which gives equal credence to, say, democratically elected governments and unelected dictatorships.

[…]

The “cultural” difference between the elites and the “people” has always existed. But the size of the gulf today may have rendered populist demagogues on both the right and left dangerously more attractive.

Let us hope that the Western establishment sees the danger and starts adjusting its vocabulary and values to the point where it can talk to its people in ways that the latter will find credible, respectful, and understandable.

Sunrise Bats For The Halal Racket

This morning the Weekend Sunrise program looked into halal certification and the controversy these rackets create in Australia.

Kirralie Smith, our lead NSW Senate candidate and also the founder of HalalChoices, was invited to be the lone voice opposing a cabal of five, who’d happily sell us out to Islam and profit. All in the name of diversity, tolerance and community harmony.

Ignorance and stupidity  is killing us. O’Keefe and his equally dumb sidekick do their best to piss on the truth tellers. As usual, its 5 against one.  Australians should not be forced to pay a religious tax on their food, period. Halal is an extortion racket, it has nothing to do with exports.  Islamic “charity” means money for  jihad. “Dr” Jamal Rifi is a Mohammedan agitprop. Latham’s arrogant psychobabble is beneath contempt. Can you believe that this primitive swine once ran for the office of PM?

Allegedly, a “Radicalised Teen” did some carving…..

The scribblers from the drecks-media are twisting themselves into pretzels in order to obfuscate the jihad threat in our midst. This is from the state run, taxpayer funded extreme left ABC:

Radicalised teen allegedly carves IS slogan into cellmate’s forehead at Kempsey jail…

A prisoner and former Australian soldier has allegedly been bashed and had a jihadist slogan carved into his head by a radicalised teenager he was sharing a cell with.

No Aussie soldier should be forced to share a cell with Mohammedan savages.  The moonbats who did this to him should hanged for treason. And to call them “teens” is a disgrace. These are men of fighting age, not teens.(SY)

Key points:

  • Teenager and ex-solider were sharing cell at Kempsey jail
  • Corrective Services Commissioner has suspended acting manager of jail
  • Alleged offender sent to maximum security facility at Goulburn

The Public Service Association, which represents prison officers, said the 40-year-old former serviceman was sharing a jail cell with the 18-year-old when he was attacked last week at Kempsey jail, on the New South Wales mid north coast.

It is alleged the teenager bashed his cellmate, before placing a towel over the older prisoner’s face and pouring boiling water over him.

He then allegedly carved ‘e4e’ into his forehead.

‘E4e’ stands for the preferred Islamic State “eye for an eye” punishment based on an interpretation of Sharia law.
