At least ten people are dead and 19 injured after a car rammed into the Christmas Market in Guadaloupe, France.

Police say the suspect was detained at the scene.

Guadeloupe is a Caribbean Island in the West Indies, east of Cuba.

Elon Musk and Tommy Robinson commented on the massacre.

The Hindustan Times is one of the only news organizations carrying the story.

According to a report by Radio Caraïbes Internationale Guadeloupe, three victims are said to be in a serious condition. The tragedy occurred at Schoelcher Square, opposite the town hall and the church.

The cause of the accident is currently unknown, and an investigation into the matter is underway. According to witnesses at the scene quoted in the RCI report, the driver may have suffered a medical episode at the wheel. The theory is yet to be confirmed. The driver is said to have remained on the scene.

Donald Trump has begun the process of banning the Muslim Brotherhood. The US President asked his officials last week to investigate whether certain chapters of the group should be classed as foreign terrorist organisations, which would result in economic and travel sanctions.

Some are portrayed this as a reckless lurch into Islamophobia. In fact, it is overdue by at least a decade. The Muslim Brotherhood is not a benign religious association. It is a disciplined ideological movement with a century-long record of exploiting political systems.Its explicit objective is to work towards the establishment of a global caliphate – only by gradualist means, rather than the reckless confrontation and brutality favoured by its distant offshoot, Isis.

Its approach varies by setting, not by moral principle. Where the environment is permissive – in fractured states, or in countries with weak institutions or sympathetic governments – it behaves like a revolutionary vanguard. Where the environment is rules-bound and resistant, it burrows into student groups, charities, interfaith organisations, academic centres and even government institutions, steadily strengthening its influence. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople could in private have told him hair-raising stories about that “tolerance,” including the forced closure of the last Orthodox seminary in the country and the refusal of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to allow it to reopen. 

The pope might have visited Hagia Sophia, for a thousand years the greatest church in Christendom, that the Ottomans had turned into a mosque, and Ataturk had turned into a museum in 1935, and Erdogan has again made into a mosque. The pope could in that place have made a public plea to Erdogan to turn it back into a church, putting him on the spot and reminding Christians worldwide of how Turkey now treats Christians. But he chose not to embarrass his malevolent host. At least the pope did not pray when visiting the Blue Mosque, as his hosts had hoped.

U.S. Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy Sarah Rogers has ignited a diplomatic firestorm, condemning the U.K.’s Online Safety Act as “vastly overreaching” and a form of cross-border censorship disguised as child protection: “It’s not about safety. It’s about control, and it doesn’t stop at your borders.”

The Act compels tech giants like Meta, Google, and X to scan private messages and delete “harmful” material or face fines up to 10% of global revenue. The Under Secretary says this directly undermines the First Amendment by forcing U.S. companies to censor lawful speech inside America to satisfy British regulators.

This isn’t just about the UK. It’s about the precedent. If American tech companies bend to foreign speech laws, every authoritarian government on the planet will demand the same treatment. The EU already tried it with the Digital Services Act. Now Britain is pushing further. The Trump administration is drawing a line: American companies will not be weaponized to enforce foreign censorship regimes.
