BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Hungarian lawmakers on Tuesday passed a law banning Pride events and allowing authorities to use facial recognition software to identify attendees, continuing a crackdown by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s right-wing populist party on the country’s LBGTQ+ community.
The measure passed in a 136-27 vote. The law, supported by Orbán’s Fidesz party and its minority coalition partner the Christian Democrats, was pushed through parliament in an accelerated procedure after being submitted only a day earlier.
It amends Hungary’s law on assembly to make it an offense to hold or attend events that violate Hungary’s contentious “child protection” legislation, which prohibits the “depiction or promotion” of homosexuality to minors under 18.

At least 342 Palestinians have been killed as Israel launched a massive assault on Gaza, shattering a fragile two-month-old ceasefire with Hamas.
The surprise attack shattered a period of relative calm during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and raised the chances of a full return to fighting in a 17-month war that has caused widespread destruction across Gaza and killed more than 48,000 Palestinians.

Hamas “repeatedly refused to release our hostages and rejected all offers it received from the US presidential envoy, Steve Witkoff, and from the mediators”.
“Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz have instructed the IDF to take strong action against the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip,” said a statement. “The IDF is, at this time, attacking targets of the Hamas terrorist organization throughout the Gaza Strip in order to achieve the objectives of the war as they have been determined by the political echelon including the release of all of our hostages, the living and the deceased.
Last month, Rasha Alawieh traveled to Beirut, Lebanon, to attend the funeral of Hassan Nasrallah— a brutal terrorist who led Hezbollah, responsible for killing hundreds of Americans over a four-decade terror spree. Alawieh openly admitted to this to CBP officers, as well as her support of Nasrallah. A visa is a privilege not a right—glorifying and supporting terrorists who kill Americans is grounds for visa issuance to be denied. This is commonsense security.

Houthis in Yemen: Dozens of people were reported killed after US President Donald Trump ordered “decisive” military action against Houthi rebels in Yemen this week, opening a new salvo against the Iran-backed group.
The Houthis started launching drone and missile strikes on vessels in the Red Sea in late 2023 in what they say is revenge for Israel’s war in Gaza. The group has targeted more than 100 ships and vessels, including with drones, missiles and small ships, significantly impacting global trade.
