Last night we saw the decline of our democracy.

The Senate passed 32 pieces of legislation without so much as even a debate on them. The Upper House, charged with being a house of review, has become a rubber stamp.

It has become the house of approval.

If Senators are unable to debate bills, then they should not agree to pass bills.

But the government, with some support from the supposedly conservative Liberal coalition, pushed reams of legislation through with barely any scrutiny. Instead of democracy, we have autocracy. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague will begin consideration Monday of a host of proposed penalties the U.N. can implement against countries that defy diktats on protecting the environment.

Activists hope the legal opinion from the ICJ judges will have far-reaching consequences in the fight against “climate change” in a matter that first came before it in 2023, as Breitbart News reported.

ut others note the U.N.-backed request for a non-binding advisory opinion will have no impact at all– and it could take the U.N.’s top court months, or even years, to deliver as counties like the U.S. – which does not formally recognize the organization –  go their own way.

BBC Staff Resign from Union over ‘Hypocritical’ Call to Wear Palestinian Flag Colors, Keffiyeh

Several BBC journalists resigned from the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) after being asked to wear colors of the Palestinian flag or a keffiyeh, a scarf synonymous with pro-Palestinian and Hamas support, in a move deemed “hypocritical and antisemitic.”

A number of BBC staff members have quit the NUJ after receiving a directive encouraging workers to “wear something red, green, black, or a Palestinian keffiyeh,” according to aJewish News report.

The request, sent jointly by the NUJ and the Trades Union Congress (TUC), was part of a “Day of Action for Palestine” aimed at supporting a ceasefire in Gaza, a move that would undoubtedly cement Hamas’s hold on power.

Now I’ve heard it all. ABC chairman Kim Williams says the ABC should get even more taxpayer money because we need more patriotism. Yes, he really did tell the National Press Club on Wednesday that stressing “a set of common beliefs that can bind us together as citizens” – “all the ingredients what we used to call patriotism” – was a “national task” that “will necessarily fall mostly to the ABC”. The ABC! If that’s so, we really are stuffed.

I totally agree we face a national crisis. We’ve let identity politics, mass immigration, corrupt multiculturalism and a toxic retelling of our history tear Australians apart.

Yet when I once pointed out we were becoming a nation of tribes, I was denounced as “toxic” and accused of trying “to stir up hated”. Yes, by the ABC, of course.

But now its chairman claims we must trust this same ABC, and especially the ABC, to fix things.
