The Victorian government has not ruled out the possibility of transferring compulsorily acquired private property to Indigenous groups or establishing designated parliamentary seats for Indigenous members.

Treaty and First Peoples Minister Natalie Hutchins, speaking at the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee hearing about the state’s treaty process, stated that various measures, including reparations, were still being considered.

It would be overly optimistic to suggest that Germany is “turning right”. Germany is socialist from the bootstraps up. People believe in the authority of an omnipotent state. That won’t change anytime soon.

My first thought was that this was damage control by CDU apparatchiks. The CDU was complicit in taking Germany to the abyss and sees the writing on the wall.  However, the fact that this new party is headed by Chairman Hans-Georg Maassen, gives great hope for real change. Maassen is the former head of the German domestic intelligence agency (the BfV), who was forced out of public office (by Merkel)  in 2018, ‘under a cloud of accusations’ of providing information to the AfD and questioning ‘reports of far-right violence against foreigners’.

During the April 24 interview with “60 Minutes” that will air this Sunday, Pope Francis was asked his thoughts on the conservative backlash against his papacy, with many of his critics being American clergy members.

Pope Francis responded by saying a conservative is someone who “clings to something and does not want to see beyond that.”
“It is a suicidal attitude,” the pontiff said, according to a brief transcript excerpt made available by CBS Thursday.

“Because one thing is to take tradition into account, to consider situations from the past, but quite another is to be closed up inside a dogmatic box.”
Pope Francis has clashed with the conservative wing almost since he was elected as head of the church in 2013.

Moves conservatives have opposed include papal attempts to make the church more welcoming to the LGBT community and to give lay people more responsibility in the church.

Search teams have reportedly located the site where a helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, crashed on Sunday, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the state’s news agency.

There was “no sign’ of life, according to Iranian state television (via the Times of Israel).

European Union stood out among democratic West for sending “sincere condolences” for death of “serious human rights violations” president.

State-run media also declared that Raisi had died — or, rather, that he had been “martyred.”

The Times of Israel quoted Iran’s Mehr news agency:

“The president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi, had an accident while serving and performing his duty for the people of Iran and was martyred,” Iran’s Mehr agency says as other media outlets also reported the news.

Opposition groups were said to be celebrating, setting off fireworks and posting jokes on social media.

Iranians have been asked to pray for the safety of President Ebrahim Raisi after his helicopter went missing on the way back from a meeting Sunday with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan.

The helicopter was also carrying Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, among other officials. It went missing in heavy fog in the mountainous region of northwestern Iran.

Iran’s President Raisi has been confirmed dead. Iran‘s supreme leader says that “if we find evidence that Israel is involved in helicopter crash of president of Iran, we will respond beyond imagination of Israel and its allies” – Netanyahu has done it.

Iranian people are celebrating in euphoria, hoping for the end of oppressive barbaric Radical Islamic regime. Western Keffiyeh Karens are… mourning? But… aren’t they supposed to be against oppression? Wow, so confusing, so confusing. And probably horribly embarrassing.
