BERLIN (AP) – A German federal court said Wednesday it had rejected a woman’s appeal of her 14-year sentence for allowing a 5-year-old Yazidi girl she and her husband kept as a slave when they were members of the Islamic State group in Iraq to die of thirst in the sun.
The defendant, a German convert to Islam, was convicted in October 2021 of, among other things, two counts of crimes against humanity through enslavement – one case resulting in death – and membership in a terrorist organization abroad.

The rumors are flying on X: the Jews did it, the Americans did it, etc. It seems unlikely that any of that is true, however. Why would the Americans, who support Ukraine, mount an attack that Russia is almost certain to accuse the Ukrainians of masterminding or aiding?

(AFP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday vowed to punish those behind a “barbaric terrorist attack” on a Moscow concert hall that killed at least 133, saying Russia had arrested four gunmen who were trying to flee to Ukraine.
Kyiv has strongly denied any connection, and Putin made no reference to claims of responsibility by the Islamic State in his first public remarks on the attack.
