A soldier killed three people and wounded 16 others before shooting himself to death Wednesday at Fort Hood, the same Texas base that was the scene of the worst attack on a domestic U.S. military installation five years ago, officials said.

U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul of Texas told reporters that the suspected shooter is Spc. Ivan Lopez.

Lt. Gen. Mark Milley, head of the Army’s III Corps at the post, said the shooter was a veteran of combat in Iraq who had “mental health issues and was being treated for that.”

“At this time there is no indication that this incident is related to terrorism, although we are not ruling anything out and the investigation continues,” Milley said.

Hevron Arabs Kick Out Leftist Activists near Peace House

Roughly 20 extreme-left activists and Arab protesters arrived at Hevron in Judea this week, but their plans to spark a confrontation with Jewish residents of the ‘Peace House‘ and IDF soldiers were upset, as local Arab residents kicked them out of the city.

The activists had arrived with cameras and the flags of the Palestinian Liberation Organization(PLO), hoping to spark clashes with Jews in Peace House, the Hevron building that in early March finally was recognized by the Supreme Court as having been duly purchased by its Jewish owners, after a six-year-long trial and a ten-year-long struggle.

To the activists’ surprise, within half an hour of starting their protest in front of the Peace House, several Arabs living in the area arrived and removed them from the area, claiming the activists were preventing them from leading normal lives in the city.

At least 15 senior Taliban commanders were killed on Tuesday in Ghazni province by a suicide bomber reportedly attempting to keep them from carrying out plans to disrupt Saturday’s elections, according to Afghan officials.

In addition to the 15 confirmed dead, nine other militants were wounded by the blast, which occurred in the Gelan district of Ghazni, according to the National Directorate of Security (NDS). Among the casualties were said to be Pakistani Taliban leaders.

Insurgents have publicly stated their intent to derail the elections, which will mark the country’s first democratic transition of presidential power in history. (Tolo News)

Bombing targets Afghan interior ministry building

A suicide bomber blew himself up outside the Afghan interior ministry building in the centre of Kabul on Wednesday, killing six and wounding several police officers, the ministry said in a statement.

“A suicide bomber wearing a military uniform … detonated his explosives at the main gate of the interior ministry,” it said.  At least four policemen were killed, a ministry spokesman said.

Egypt Muslim Brotherhood chief calls Sisi a “tyrant”

Speaking on Tuesday from a cage in a courtroom where he faces trial for inciting violence, Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie also dismissed accusations by the military-backed government that the group engaged in terrorism.

“The people will not accept an army tyrant,” Badie said in reference to Sisi, who resigned from the military in order to contest a presidential election on May 26-27.
