The U.S. military launched a fresh wave of strikes against multiple targets in Iran on Wednesday evening after President Donald Trump warned Tehran would “pay the price” for dragging out negotiations aimed at ending the conflict.
“U.S. Central Command forces began launching additional self-defense strikes today at 5:15 p.m. ET against multiple targets in Iran at the Commander in Chief’s direction,” CENTCOM announced in a statement. “The strikes are in response to Iran’s unwarranted and continued aggression.”
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) says retaliatory strikes have been launched against US forces in the region, specifically mentioning bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, according to Iranian news reports.

SIDON, Lebanon (AP) — Christian religious leaders from Lebanon’s southern port city of Tyre called on the international community and Lebanese officials on Tuesday to act quickly to prevent Israel from attacking the Christian district of the city, as airstrikes on nearby neighborhoods killed eight people and wounded dozens of others.
The Israeli military has issued an evacuation warning for the port city, including the Christian quarter, which has been spared so far.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry said a paramedic was among five people killed in Israeli attacks on Zebdin in southern Lebanon on Friday, with at least a dozen people killed across the country by Israel’s bombardments despite a new ceasefire deal agreed with Lebanese officials.

A military adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, says negotiations with Washington to reach a peace deal “are at a deadlock”.
“The negotiations are at a deadlock and Trump must break this deadlock,” Mohsen Rezaei said in an interview with CNN in Tehran. “The ball is in Trump’s court.”
President Trump is criticizing Pope Leo XIV for hosting Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson at the Vatican.
“Someone should explain to the pope that the mayor of Chicago is useless,” Trump wrote after photos emerged of the meeting between the Chicago-born pope and the mayor.
Trump’s comment also came after months of tension between the president and the pontiff over Pope Leo’s criticism of the administration’s hard-line immigration policies and foreign policy.
Since 2017, Iranians have widely discussed reports that the Obama administration granted a number of U.S. Green Cards (variously reported as 2,500 or 2,800) to Khomeiniist regime leaders as part of a secret codicil to the 2015 nuclear deal, the JCPOA.
This allegation was first published on February 14th of that year by Amad News, an outlet founded by dissident Ruhollah Zam, who was later lured into a trap by IRGC intelligence, forcibly taken to Iran, summarily tried, and then executed in 2020. At the time, the story did not gain traction in the West, though it was covered by prominent outlets such as Al Arabiya.
