Trump ‘cancels strikes’, says deal ‘approved’
- United States President Donald Trump says he has cancelled planned strikes and bombings against Iran after discussions were allegedly approved by the “highest level” of the Iranian leadership. There has been no confirmation from Iran.
- Earlier, Trump had warned that the US would hit Iran “very hard” tonight, adding that Washington will take over Iran’s Kharg Island and other oil infrastructure points.
- Iran’s Foreign Ministry has condemned the US strikes on the country, saying that it has rendered the ceasefire “practically meaningless”.
- Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) launched retaliatory strikes on US forces in the region, including in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan, according to Iranian news reports. Iran’s military also ordered the complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all vessels.

What Israel Hit in Iran
Iran, trying to force the IDF to stop hitting Hezbollah sites in Beirut, launched 11 ballistic missiles at Israel on June 7. They were all intercepted, causing no damage. But such an attack could not go unanswered. The IDF then responded, giving not as good as it got, but far better. IRGC commander says US ‘audacity’ will be met with ‘hell’
The IRGC’s Aerospace Force chief, Majid Mousavi, has commented on the latest US attacks, according to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, promising “hell” in the region.
Tehran targets Bahrain, Kuwaiti bases after new US strikes
- The United States military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) earlier launched attacks “against multiple targets in Iran”, saying the strikes were in “self-defense”, as well as in response to “Iran’s unwarranted and continued aggression”.
- Iranian media reported sounds of explosions in several locations, including the port city of Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island and the southern towns of Sirik and Minab. Air defences were also activated in western Tehran, according to reports.
- Iran’s Mehr news agency reports that Iran’s military has ordered the complete closure of the Hormuz Strait to all vessels, including oil tankers and commercial vessels.
- US President Donald Trump warned earlier that his military was preparing to strike Iran again, claiming: “They’ve taken too long to negotiate a deal that would have been great for them; now they will have to pay the price.”
- Israeli attacks on Lebanon continued on Wednesday, with multiple reports of casualties in strikes on the south of the country and in the Bekaa Valley region, as the death toll since March from Israel’s bombardments reached 3,696.
