Hundreds of thousands of Iranians gathered on Azadi Street in Tehran to bid farewell to Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

• A massive crowd gathers for the funeral procession of Iran’s slain Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Tehran with authorities estimating millions of people are on the streets.

• Ten Japan-linked vessels have begun leaving the Strait of Hormuz after spending months stranded in the Gulf because of the US-Israeli war on Iran.

  The ships include six oil tankers carrying 12 million barrels of Middle Eastern crude as well as two chemical tankers, a vehicle carrier, and a container ship.

• Israeli Defence Minister Katz threatens Iranian leaders

  Israel’s defence minister has claimed that his country assassinated Khamenei for allegedly leading a “plan to destroy” Israel and again threatened to “eliminate” any Iranian leader who tries to promote such actions, according to Israel’s Channel 13.

  Israel Katz made the comments in response to the ongoing funeral procession in Tehran, the Israeli broadcaster reported.

  Iranian official likens U.S.-Iran talks to Muhammad’s Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, ‘it paved the way for future victories’

  As The History of Jihad explains, Muhammad concluded the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah with the pagan Quraysh on terms unfavorable to the Muslims, much to the confusion and anger of some of his companions. A new revelation promised the disgruntled Muslims “much booty” (Qur’an 48:19). Perhaps to fulfill this promise, Muhammad led them against the Khaybar oasis, which Jews, many of them exiles from Medina, inhabited, and massacred the Jews there, seizing the promised abundance of booty. The Treaty of Hudaybiyyah only lasted until the Muslims were strong enough to break it. Now Mohammad-Hossein Saffar-Harandi is likening U.S.-Iran negotiations to the same treaty. The Trump administration should take careful note of this, and ponder its implications for the usefulness of the negotiations altogether. But it won’t.
