Merz Cancels Trump Call After Trump Hails AfD Victory and Slams Germany’s Globalist Mass Migration Policy

Germany’s left-liberal, globalist Chancellor Friedrich Merz has postponed a planned telephone conversation with the US on Wednesday, days after voters in Saxony-Anhalt handed the AfD a sweeping regional election victory and a major defeat to Merz’s CDU.

The German government offered no explanation for pulling the call, the German press reported. Government spokesman Stefan Kornelius said Berlin had requested the postponement and that officials hadn’t yet settled on another date.

Trump’s social media posts added an international dimension to that battle. His administration and political allies have previously criticized the exclusion of national conservative parties in Europe, while prominent figures in Trump’s orbit have openly expressed sympathy for the AfD.

Germany’s sovereigntist, anti-mass-migration Alternative for Deutschland (AfD) party pulled off a historic result in state elections in Saxony-Anhalt at the weekend, pushing the country’s longstanding default party of government the Christian Democrats (CDU) into a distant second and leaving all other parties as also-rans. The result has sent shock waves through German politics and brought the leadership of national Chancellor Friedrich Merz into question, which seems to have sent the otherwise mild-mannered lawyer into a tailspin of despair, in which he has made increasingly outlandish threats and comments against the AfD, painting them as an outright threat to the German nation.

On Wednesday, Merz responded to one of the flagship policies of the AfD — that migrants who are in Germany illegally should actually be made to leave, rather than endlessly tolerated — to call it ethnic cleansing. The charge has obvious historic connotations in Germany and caused something of a firestorm. Merz said on Wednesday that the party’s “remigration” policy is “nothing other than ethnic cleansing based on skin color and origin”.

Merz further claimed that if deportations took place, German society would simply collapse. Speaking directly to AfD members in the German Parliament, he went on to say: “You are part of the problem we have in Germany — and we will resist that with everything at our disposal”.

Indonesia sentences Christian pastor 2 years in prison under Islamic blasphemy law

SURABAYA, Indonesia — A Christian pastor has been sentenced to prison for two years for violating Indonesia’s law against blasphemy and hate speech in a case that has drawn scrutiny over the speed of his arrest and trial.

A panel of judges at Banda Aceh Court on July 10 handed down the sentence to Dedi Saputra, 31, a former Muslim from Aceh Province who was serving as a pastor in West Kalimantan Province.

The court ruled that Saputra had “convincingly” committed a criminal offense under laws against blasphemy and hate speech, Article 301 of Indonesia’s Criminal Code, paragraph (1) of Law No. 1 of 2023, in conjunction with Law No. 1 of 2026 on Penal Adjustments.

Iran-Backed Houthi Terrorists Attack Saudi Cities; Women and Children Injured

The Iran-backed Houthi insurgents of Yemen launched drone and missile attacks against four cities in southern Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, injuring at least 70 people and inflicting significant damage on Saudi oil facilities.

The Houthis claimed successful attacks on an air base in the Saudi city of Khamis Mushait, plus oil facilities in Abha, Najran, and Jazan. Jazan is a Red Sea port located near the Yemeni border that hosts one of the largest refineries in Saudi Arabia. The Jazan refinery was targeted by Houthi attacks several times in August.

Satellite photos showed smoke billowing from the refinery in Jazan and the oil distribution center in Abha, but few additional details about the strikes were released by the Saudi government.

The casualty count stood at 73 people injured as of late Tuesday morning, with no reported fatalities. Saudi officials said women and children were among the wounded.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi privately expressed support for the assassination of President Trump.

According to Iranian MP Mojtaba Zarei, Araghchi was asked during a closed National Security Commission meeting about killing Trump in retaliation and responded that whoever carries it out, “I will kiss his hand.”

The remarks come as Trump’s campaign of powerful economic sanctions and the naval blockade has shredded the Islamic Republic’s economic and strategic capacity, choking its oil lifeline and increasing pressure on a system already struggling to sustain itself and its proxies.

Araghchi is portrayed as part of the Islamic Republic’s so-called “moderate” faction, yet publicly he has dismissed threats to assassinate Trump as the rhetoric of “extremists.” There is no real moderate faction.
