– from 1960 to 1973, US consumption of OPEC oil rose to 30% – the oil embargo of 1973 was instituted by Arab nations under the auspices of punishing those who support Israel, but in effect it destroyed the up and coming Iran (a non-OPEC Western ally)
– surely the Bush family had begun their relationship with OPEC before the late ’60s. By the 70s it was well established – the Alaska Native Claims Act of 1971 put 44 million acres of North Slope off limits for oil drilling
– at the same time that Iran was getting their oil cut off during the embaro, G.H.W. Bush was the UN Ambassador, 71-73,
– Bush was director of the CIA from 76-77,
