The end of the Cuban revolution?

Trump Hits Cuba With New Sanctions; Rubio Warns Of Havana’s Foreign Influence Ops

The Trump administration’s Cuba pressure campaign accelerated this past week, with Trump signing an executive order Friday that broadens U.S. sanctions against Havana and opens the door to severe penalties on foreign firms operating key nodes in the Cuban economy. On top of this, Secretary of State Marco Rubio made a very interesting comment, as if he or his staffers had read our late-2025 note titled “Is There A ‘Cuba Connection’ Behind The Radicalization Of America’s Nonprofit Left?”

Let’s begin with the next round of U.S. sanctions that target the communist regime, more specifically, individuals, entities, affiliates, officials, and supporters linked to Cuba’s security apparatus, corruption, or serious human rights abuses. It also authorizes secondary sanctions against parties that conduct or facilitate transactions with sanctioned targets, as this can only be viewed as maximum pressure against the Havana communists ramping up. Iran: the dogs are barking, but negotiations continue….

It looks as if Iran is just playing for time to regroup and to dig in. We will soon see whether they are serious or not re a peace deal.

Iran State Media Says Trump’s Optimistic Claims On Deal Are “Mix Of Truth & Lies”

Ghalibaf: “We have no trust in guarantees or words.

That’s a common tactic of these taqiyya gigolos. Being notorious deceivers, they project their villainy onto their opponents  to gain concessions. ‘Give us something so we can trust you’ might work with previous administrations, but Trump is not one to be fooled.

  • Trump repeats conditions on Iran for lifting US naval blockade, oil pushed lower. Fars responds: “Mix of truth & lies.”
  • Trump vows to ‘unearth’ and gain control of nuclear dust in ‘cooperation’ with Iran and/or China, says no money will be exchanged with Iran, and that it ‘must agree’ to never have a nuclear weapon (Truth Social).
  • NY Times reports surprising element of the Iran peace draft deal: a proposed investment fund for Iran – reportedly $300 billion.
  • Tehran confirms MOU stalled, but is being reviewed, amid lack of trust in negotiating with Washington.
  • The Revolutionary Guards said any renewed conflict would spread “far beyond the region,” threatening “crushing blows” and “utter ruin” in places opponents “cannot even imagine.”

Trump: Iran’s Uranium will be unearthed by the United States; Fars: Trump’s claims “mix of truth and lies”

These Truth Social messages are starting to appear uncannily similar to ones already issued weeks ago. But this seems more confirmation that there is no MOU which has been ‘finalized’ – but that some key things have been agreed to.

  • Trump is again saying the US will get the ‘nuclear dust’
  • Iran “must agree” to never have a nuclear weapon
  • No toll system for Hormuz
  • Removal of all sea mines
  • “No money will be exchanges until further notice.”

In the meantime, Iran’s ongoing threats of an escalated, protracted war happen to be very clear:

  •

The Revolutionary Guards said any renewed conflict would spread “far beyond the region,” threatening “crushing blows” and “utter ruin” in places opponents “cannot even imagine.”

Michael Steger: Donald Trump is remaking the entire Middle East in ways only comparable to Alexander the Great. From Turkey and Egypt to Pakistan and India, this is Alexander’s Empire. US attacks as Israeli forces cross Lebanon’s Litani River

Following Iranian media reports that a U.S. aircraft had been downed near Bushehr, Iran, U.S. Central Command has put out a release refuting the claims.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) accused Iran on Thursday of an “egregious ceasefire violation” for firing a ballistic missile at Kuwait and launching “five one-way attack drones that posed a clear threat in and near the Strait of Hormuz.”

U.S. and Iranian negotiators have reportedly reached a tentative agreement to extend the fragile ceasefire between the two countries by 60 days and launch negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear program, though President Donald Trump has not yet signed off on the deal.

US denies Iranian claims of aircraft interception near Bushehr

New American Strikes Target Iranian Military Site That Reportedly Fired Drones at US Cargo Ship

Iran says it has a new air defence system. How significant is it?

That means negotiating with Iran was a huge mistake. The US lost the momentum and can only regain the upper hand by sacrificing more men & materiel.

Iran’s claimed drone interception has renewed attention on Tehran’s military capabilities after months of bombardment.

  • The United States has carried out new “defensive” strike son an Iranian military site allegedly posing a threat to US forces and maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
  • In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps says it launched an attack on an “American airbase” and warns of “more decisive” action should US “aggression” continue.
  • The Israeli military issues forced displacement orders for the entire population of southern Lebanon – tens of thousands of people – with troops crossing the strategic Litani River and being confronted by Hezbollah.
  • Aid agencies warn of an “absolute catastrophe” in south Lebanon during Israel’s relentless bombardment and intensifying ground invasion.

“U.S. forces conducted self-defense strikes in southern Iran today to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces”

Update:

  • The United States has carried out new strikes on an Iranian military site allegedly posing a threat to US forces and maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, according to news reports.
  • Iranian media have reported that US forces struck near the Bandar Abbas port, causing no damage or casualties.

Iran Claims U.S. Talks Don’t Include Enriched Uranium Stockpile

Iranian state TV has published what it claims is a new draft proposal for peace with the U.S. — and it reportedly still clashes with several major American red lines. The proposal allegedly includes demands tied to Iran’s nuclear program and future enforcement measures, while also calling for $20 billion in frozen funds to be released as part of the deal.

Iran Claims It Downed U.S. Drone, Threatens ‘Devastating’ Response Next Time U.S. Violates Ceasefire

Iran’s terrorist Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) threatened a “very devastating” response to any future military activity by the United States on Tuesday following confirmation from the Pentagon that it had conducted “self-defense” airstrikes on Iranian targets.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the arm of the Pentagon responsible for Middle East activities, confirmed on Monday evening that it had conducted operations against Iranian targets accused of maintaining missile launch sites and maritime assets allegedly used to “emplace mines” in the Strait of Hormuz. Since Washington launched Operation Epic Fury to erode the Iranian regime’s ability to pose a threat to its neighbors in February, the IRGC has blocked regular commercial traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important economic transit points in the world and a major source of oil and liquified natural gas (LNG) heading from Gulf states to Asia.

More updates here:
  • Kuwait’s military said its air defences confronted “hostile” missiles and drones, without providing information on where the attack came from.
  • The Israeli military has issued forced displacement orders for the entire population of southern Lebanon, threatening them to flee north of the Zahrani River, some 40km (25 miles) from Israel’s border, as all areas south of the river are now “combat zones“.
  • Aid agencies warn of an “absolute catastrophe” in southern Lebanon amid Israel’s attacks and its intensifying ground invasion.
  • Washington and Tehran have issued conflicting statementson negotiations to end the US-Israel war on Iran with US President Donald Trump saying there would be no easing of sanctions on Iran to reach a deal.

Iran: Trump might be compelled to “finish the job”

Israel Intensifies Attacks on Lebanon

Iran says return to war unlikely, but Trump ‘not satisfied’ with deal

Iran said on Wednesday that a return to war with the United States was unlikely as the two sides inched towards a deal, though President Donald Trump said he was not happy with Tehran’s latest offer.

U.S. Military Launches Precision “Self-Defense Strikes” in Southern Iran – Neutralizing IRGC Threats to American Troops After Radical Regime’s Latest Provocations

The US leader warned he might be compelled to “finish the job” if a better arrangement was not reached, even as optimism for a peace deal that would reopen the crucial Strait of Hormuz trade route sent oil prices tumbling.

With fighting paused since an April 8 ceasefire, negotiations to bring an end to the conflict and resume trade through the blockaded waterway have stalled, leaving the global economy shaken by the tumult.

But senior Iranian Revolutionary Guards official Mohammad Akbarzadeh said the likelihood of a return to “war is low because of the enemy’s weakness”, but warned the military was “lying in wait with full magazines” in the event of an attack, Tasnim news agency reported.

Trump, meanwhile, said in a cabinet meeting at the White House that he was in no rush to reach an accord, despite saying at the weekend that one was close.

“Iran is very much intent, they want very much to make a deal. So far they haven’t gotten there. We’re not satisfied with it, but we will be,” he said.

“Either that or we’ll have to just finish the job.”

Trump Calls for Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Others to Join Abraham Accords

  • United States forces said they have attacked missile launch sites and mine-laying vessels in southern Iran
  • US forces targeted missile launch sites and Iranian vessels “attempting to emplace” sea mines.
  • Top negotiators from Tehran have travelled to Qatar to discuss points of contention in a potential deal to end the US-Israel war on Iran.
  • The US has described the attacks in Bandar Abbas as “self-defence” strikes to protect troops from threats posed by Iranian forces.

The US attacked missile launch sites and Iranian boats.

The US said they were defending their forces while using a great deal of restraint in the face of attacks from Iranians. No one on the US side has been injured.

There have been a number of skirmishes like this, particularly just after the start of the ceasefire. At the time, Trump said he didn’t consider these to be a breach of the ceasefire.

Trump Provides Update on Iran Deal and Options For Disposal of Their Enriched Uranium

President Donald Trump announced that Iran’s enriched uranium would either be “immediately turned over” to the United States or would be destroyed “in place” in Iran.

Soon Everyone Will Be Talking About The Cost Of Food

There is not going to be an agreement to end the war.

Everyone Talks About The Cost Of Gasoline… Soon Everyone Will Be Talking About The Cost Of Food

“The big story right now is oil… The next story is food.”

For most people, the price of gasoline is the most obvious consequence of the war in the Middle East. As I write this article, the average price of a gallon of gasoline in the United States is $4.56. Of course, in some parts of the country, consumers are paying much more than that. This is a big story, and the truth is that gasoline prices are going to go even higher in the months ahead.

But if you think that the price of gasoline is bad, just wait until you see what eventually happens to food prices. The price of diesel has been rising even faster than the price of regular gasoline, and fertilizer prices have been absolutely skyrocketing. Those costs will get passed along to the rest of us. It is just a matter of time. Meanwhile, our farmers are dealing with drought conditions that are unprecedented, and now a “Super El Niño” is coming.

What all of this means is that food prices will rise to very painful levels.

So even though everyone is complaining about rising gasoline prices at the moment, one prominent economist is warning that “the next story is food”

Iran Sends Negotiators to Qatar, Complaining That U.S. Demands Are ‘Excessive’

Back & forth, down & around…. the Iranians are playing for time. It’s not so much that they are playing the Americans for fools, but the Americans lost momentum. Not going in and eliminating the regimes revolutionary guards enabled them to regroup, which defeats the purpose of the exercise.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are in Doha, Qatar, as of Monday for negotiations with neighboring states in the service of finalizing a peace agreement with the United States.

The visit follows a series of public statements from President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio affirming that Tehran and Washington have made progress in their negotiations towards peace. Both have cautioned that the two sides still disagree sharply on core issues remaining unresolved and that talks will take time to yield results, but the tone of their remarks indicated an optimism absent from previous attempts at ending the conflict.

  • President Donald Trump says he has instructed the negotiators “not to rush into a deal” with Iran since “time is on our side”, adding that the US blockade in the Strait of Hormuz “will remain in full force and effect until an agreement is reached, certified, and signed”.
  • The threat of renewed war with Iran “still looms large”, according to Al Jazeera’s team in Washington, DC, as “the US president still leaves open the opportunity to launch military strikes”.
  • The development comes after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the next round of talks between the US and Iran would happen “very soon”.

A MUST watch of Senator Rick Santorum‘s forboding warning to the U.S. Senate about Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the rise of radical Islam, and the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran to the U.S. and Western Civilization.

The Senator detailed a number of reasons why the U.S. strategy with Iran should never involve negotiating. His prescience on this matter is unmatched.

Those who don’t understand why it’s imperative that Iran’s nuclear program is shut down for good will learn much from this eye-opening warning 20 years ago.

“We should NOT be negotiating with Iran…When we did, this Summer, attempt to negotiate with Iran, we told the people of Iran that we are not on their side, that we want to make deals with people who oppress them, who torture them, who enslave them, who abuse them, and who kill them….Iran played us along. They said ‘We’ll negotiate with you as long as we can continue to produce nuclear material and continue our nuclear program.’ And so we negotiated and we negotiated, and they developed and they developed.”
