Sadiq Khan last night urged ministers to axe Donald Trump’s state visit, after the President stepped up his attack on the mayor’s response to the London atrocity.

President Trump received a rare rebuke from Theresa May yesterday over his jibe at Mr Khan on Sunday, which mocked the mayor’s statement that there was ‘no need to be alarmed’ by an increased police presence.

Mrs May initially ducked questions on the issue at a press conference yesterday, before saying: ‘I think Sadiq Khan is doing a good job and it’s wrong to say anything else.’

Police have confirmed the gunman was Yacqub Khayre, who was linked to the Holsworthy army barracks terror plot in 2009. Not clear how he got off, perhaps on some evidentiary technicality it’s been suggested.

Anyway, the rights of potential terrorists are more important than the rights of their next victims. Didn’t you know that?

Victoria Police confirm the Brighton siege is being treated as terrorism, as IS claims responsibility for Monday night’s deadly attack.

“We believe that this person was there with those sorts of intentions, albeit we don’t know whether it was something planned at this stage,” Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton told Seven on Tuesday morning.

“… We are treating it as a terror attack.”

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for Monday’s incident, that left an employee of the Brighton serviced apartments where the siege occurred dead.

Police have confirmed the gunman was Yacqub Khayre, who was killed in a shootout with police.

“The attack in Melbourne, Australia was carried out by a soldier of the Islamic State in response to the call for targeting the subjects of the coalition states,” the group’s Amaq news agency said.

Mr Ashton said Khayre had been linked to the Holsworthy army barracks terror plot in 2009.

He had taken a prostitute hostage and forced her to ring the Seven Network’s Melbourne newsroom on Monday afternoon.

She said she was in a hostage situation before man came on the line saying “This is for IS, this is for al-Qaeda”.

Mr Ashton earlier told Nine that the gunman had been known to police because of his background “in relation to terrorism matters, albeit some years ago.”

He said there had been no information that he had been planning an attack.

“He is someone certainly known to us from his background but certainly as of yesterday there wasn’t anything that we had that suggested that he was planning on embarking on this, that this was anything more than a spontaneous

The terrorist was shot dead by police after another man was found murdered, a woman was held hostage and Brighton was plunged into lockdown for two horrific hours.

Three police from the special operations group were injured in a gunfight which brought the Bay St apartment complex siege to an end.

Let’s discuss the links between refugees and terrorism again, shall we, but this time without the spin and the denialism.

VICTORIA’S Police Commissioner said investigators would probe whether the terror gunman who shot dead an apartment worker and took an escort hostage in Brighton last night was trying to lure police into a deadly ambush.

Mr Ashton said the gunman – confirmed to be Yacqub Khayre, as revealed last night by the Herald Sun, was from Roxburgh Park and lived with his mother.

Thousands of Londoners gathered Monday in a park near London’s Tower Bridge to express grief over the deaths of those killed by radical Islamic terrorists on Saturday evening.

The vigil, led by London mayor Sadiq Khan, saw a procession of Muslims given the opportunity to first, and separately, lay flowers at the scene.

While the group of men first laid flowers, other Britons and attendees were held behind barriers.

The group is believed to have been from the Bohra sect of Islam, perhaps best known for their adherence to the barbaric practice of female genital mutilation.

Mr. Khan was joined by several other major political figures including Home Secretary Amber Rudd of the Conservative Party and Labour Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott. Thousands of others also attended the event which started at 6pm in Potters Fields Park along the river Thames.

The Guardian reports:

More than 130 imams and Muslim religious leaders have said they will refuse to say funeral prayers for the perpetrators of Saturday’s attack in London.

In a highly unusual move, Muslim religious figures from across the country and from different schools of Islam said their pain at the suffering of the victims and their families led them to refuse to perform the traditional Islamic prayer – a ritual normally performed for every Muslim regardless of their actions. They called on others to do the same.

London Bridge attack: 2 of 3 killers identified

London (CNN)British police have identified two of the three men behind Saturday night’s terror attack in London as Khuram Shazad Butt and Rachid Redouane.

Butt, 27, was a British citizen who was born in Pakistan, London’s Metropolitan Police said. Police and MI5, the UK’s
counterintelligence and security agency, were familiar with him, but there was no intelligence to suggest the weekend attack was being planned, police said.

Butt briefly worked for Transport for London, the entity that oversees the city’s public transport system. He was a trainee customer services assistant with London Underground for less than six months, before leaving in October, a Transport for London spokesperson said.

Redouane, 30, who also used the name Rachid Elkhdar, had claimed to be Moroccan and Libyan.

The third attacker has been identified, police said, but his name has not been publicly released.

The assailants killed seven people and wounded 48 others by ramming a vehicle into a crowd on London Bridge and then stabbing people in nearby Borough Market.
