The United States government has warned Australia to halt its crackdown on free speech following the election of a left wing government for a second term.

The U.S. State Department has formally criticised the Albanese Government for censoring Billboard Chris — a Canadian dad who speaks out against the chemical and surgical castration of children.
Yes, the United States is now warning Australia that it must respect freedom of speech — in a hint that this issue could affect future trade relations.
Here’s what happened:
Chris Elston, better known as Billboard Chris, posted on X in April 2024 about Teddy Cook, an Australian transgender activist appointed to a World Health Organisation panel.
His post quoted a Daily Mail article and included this simple message: “Children are beautiful just as they are. No drugs or scalpels needed.”
Australia’s eSafety Commissioner responded by issuing a takedown notice — claiming the way he used pronouns was “likely intended to cause serious harm.”

50-year-old Hamit Coskun was charged with acting with intent to cause “harassment, alarm or distress” against the “religious institution of Islam” by the UK’s Criminal Prosecution Service (CPS) this week after allegedly burning a copy of the Qur’an outside the Turkish consulate in London.
